Or maybe - juuust maybe - you wanted some existential crises and world-ending dread packed behind a cute art style? Well then! Final Fantasy IX is the right title for you! As the last game in the Final Fantasy series on the Playstation, the ninth installment has plenty of the past with a touch of the present by 2000, and a number of allusions to previous games while wrapped in its own little package to enjoy! Currently, we only have Zidane in game, but any and all of his friends or enemies would be welcome! Just maybe with varying arm lengths.
