Great—! I mean, it's better than before! Now, if you lead with your head, and kinda push your chest out when you push forward, and kind of wiggle-kick your butt and your tail up-and-down, instead of side-to-side... you can dive.

[ It's a hard thing to explain in words, but he gives another example, and descends a little ways. Moving forward is one thing. Changing directions vertically is another. He waves her down the few feet he'd swam. ]

C'mon, if it's your first time making the Change, don't think too hard about how it happens! Just go with the flow— get it? Now follow me!

[ He dives down a little further, but he's checking over his shoulder to see if she's gotten the hang of it, too, keeping his pace slow and leisurely for her sake, pausing after half a moment. He's not the best teacher... but he's not the worst, either. He's never had to teach another sea monster how to swim, so it's a pretty weird moment for him, too. Walking, he taught himself; he could explain that. Swimming, well... that'd be like a human trying to explain how to walk! ]
