( the further they walk, the more foreign the landscape becomes for someone who is used to the Light Kingdom's fog covered bamboo forests and mountain borders. the trees are dense and block out the summer sun, and though the encroaching darkness brings with it the same ache it always does, it also makes it easier for Century Egg to see his surroundings with better clarity. his familiar — a spirit in and of itself, though not resembling a human in any way, shape or form — hovers by his ankles and bristles at the ghosts Century Egg and this woman seem to take in stride.
they could be going anywhere, but Century Egg doesn't seem perturbed by the detour and it cannot understand why.
but soon enough they're here, in a quiet place, covered and secluded. he stands for a moment, taking in the shrine, the creatures insisting they rest here, and frowns. )
