What? Asriel - no, no. [Asgore takes a step closer and almost unthinkingly drops to one knee behind Asriel.] Nothing that happened was your fault.

[Asgore, naturally, connects this to the last time he can recall speaking to his son - his final moments. Asriel didn't last long, after he returned to the garden. No healing magic his parents could produce was enough. But he'd held himself together long enough to tell them what had happened. He said he was sorry then, too.

(It was the humans' fault. But Asgore can't let himself go to that place again.)]


I am sorry. We should not have left you alone.

[It all happened because he had to watch Chara die alone. They all should have been there - for Asriel, and for Chara as well.]
