When Lan Wangji pulls his companion up against his side, it's enough to make Nie Huaisang glance at his face, briefly. The disapproval is almost expected at this point; most of the glances he gets these days are either that or pitying. Though this is quite different situation altogether, it wouldn't do to break any sort of character. At least he's fairly certain that he's safe in Lan Wangji's indifference towards him.
Then the woman speaks and he startles again, gaze jerking back to her--there is, perhaps, a split second where there's a particular look on his face, before it's quickly replaced by an uneasy laugh and something that looks like sheepishness (though certainly still tinged with confusion) as he scrambles to his feet, maybe attempting to dust himself off a bit.
"Of course, of course. You're right." He brings his hands around to the front, crossing one over the other to give her a bow. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Klaudia-guniang." He straightens a little, giving her a smile that is a bit more friendly, if still a little uneasy. "I am called Nie Huaisang."
