Hmm... I'm not an instructor, so I'm honestly not sure how to best go about it. Some types are easy, I guess - if you can suddenly understand random animals you're probably an animal mage, and I think healing is also pretty intuitive, but stuff like siphoning or bargaining can be a lot trickier since you'll need a magical item or creature to apply those to.

Maybe try to channel your magic, whatever it may be, up into the air? But I know even that it can be hard for some people, especially if they've never had any such abilities before.
