[ooc: hello! this is my first time playing severus, so apologies if my characterization is off. I'm basing him primarily off the movies, as i haven't read the books, excluding some a couple of individual passages, which i will be taking into account nontheless! and just as a disclaimer, i want it to be clear that I do not support j.k. rowling or condone her transphobic attitudes in any way. as far as i'm concerned, harry potter doesn't belong to her anymore - but if you're uncomfortable with interacting with a character from the hp franchise, I completely understand! if I end up apping severus, i'll be making an opt-out post for interactions with him, so please let me know if you'd rather avoid writing with this account. thank you! ]
Arrival
[ The last thing he remembers is dying.
It was... painful. And lonely, in a way that he wasn't quite prepared for. But no, he wasn't alone... not at the very end, at least. He'd talked to Potter, hadn't he?
...So is this the afterlife, then? He can only assume. If that's the case...
Severus had dreamed of meeting Lily after his death many times, but… he had never dared to put any faith in that faint hope of his. For one thing, he's always felt that there's no way somebody like him could end up in the same place as her. Even so, though... he can feel his heart speed up a little at the thought of seeing her again.
But... what would he even say to her? It's not like there's any way he could ever make up for what he's done.
Once he’s on land, Severus realizes that he really… has no idea what’s going on here. There’s people around – the sheer number of them surprises him – here, but he doesn’t recognize any of them at all. If this really is the afterlife, he'd expect to see at least some faces from the war, surely? Though it's not like he has any clue how the afterlife works.
Did they win? Was everything worth it? Or did he manage to accomplish nothing, in the end?
...He doesn't know. That might be the worst part of all this.
With a composed expression, betraying none of his feelings at all, he turns to the person closest to him, and asks in a dull tone- ]
I don't suppose you know what's going on here?
RED SPRING | Training Grounds.
[ Having his magic taken away from him is... disconcerting. In more ways than one. It makes him feel vulnerable in a way that he hasn't felt for a very long time. His wand might as well be nothing more than a glorified stick, now.
Of course, it's been explained to him that he does have magic, still. It's just that it functions completely differently from the magic that he's known his whole life. It's... frustrating, and that's the least he can say about it, but by now he's come to terms with it, and the fact that accepting it is all he can do. So the first step is figuring out just what kind of magic he has.
He doesn't like the fact that he'll need someone's help for it, but he's not a fool. Going to the training grounds and asking around is probably the fastest way to deal with this.
And so that's what he does.
Once he's arrived, he takes a moment to look around, watching to see how everyone else is getting along with their magic. Now, who to approach... ]
