Should she run? Maybe she could get away by saying this was an illusion or something? That would surely work. But then Medea would just be hurt even more. If she stayed here though, explaining everything, what would happen if she just disappeared all over again? So many questions and doubt plagued her mind, paralyzing the young shinobi. And all at the worst time, as Medea began to fall.
Hearing Medea's reaction though snapped her out of it. An even worse situation appearing before her now, one she hadn't even considered, brought the ninja back to reality. She raced forward, using kinetic and wind to push her as fast as possible. Just as quickly, she grabbed a sword from her back, and her familiar in another. The snake instantly knew the plan, coiling around Homura's arm and biting down the handle. In one quick motion, she stabbed it and stretched out, desperately reach out to grab her mom in time.
Except she missed. Her fingers had barely even grazed her mom's before she fell out of reach.
She had nothing but pure horror and guilt on her face. There was no way she mastered her magic enough to fly reliably, let alone at an altitude at this level. Again the doubt plagued her mind, her mother seemingly falling in slow motion. She was letting someone else get hurt, if not outright die, thanks to her own actions. Every failure flashed before her mind, as if to remind Homura of her own efforts gone wrong.
Her friends, nearly losing their lives thanks to the greed she was too blind to see.
A friend who sacrificed herself, all because of her inability to react in time.
A young boy nearly cut down by her own doppelganger.
And now, her own mother, all because she pushed her away.
Tears formed, all as fire flickered around her body, anger suddenly rising in place of fear and self-pity. And for the briefest of moments, even her hair burned with flames bearing the color of blood.
"I won't..." The flames raged again, her hand letting go of Tsumuji. "I'm not some sniveling weakling!" She darted off from the edge like a bullet, her hand suddenly coming to another sword, the nodachi she could never draw since coming to this world.
