Yeah, that's pretty much the gist of it. The Lady of the Lake told me they eat human souls, and I've got reason to believe that they eat the bodies too. A book I read at the Archivist's holds a historical anecdote of that happening, anyway.

[Who really knows, though? Someone might well just have made that up.]

No one said anything about them using magic, but I'd brace for water magic anyway, just in case.

[He really, really hopes they don't use death magic... he knows that they can devour just part of a soul, too (after which it will luckily recover and regenerate); how does that work if not through something akin to an exorcism? But no book or person could give him a conclusive answer to that question.]
