"This sort of arrangement is more suited to the deeper wilds, but how they came to be must be a bit unusual," Zhongli mused, entirely oblivious to any potential dangers. "According to some legends, elemental trials such as this were placed by the adepti, in order to encourage those who ventured out into the wilderness to hone their skills and develop critical thinking. Some scholars even posit that Rex Lapis himself began the tradition as a way to encourage finding new markets -- new uses for old items, as it were. But even if all these are true, why would they be found here?"

Apparently, the task of locating these items came with history, or at least mythology lessons.
