Carbuncle notices the King first, of course. It's not the Carbuncle, but it has familiarity with Noctis' memories none the less. So, seeing the regal figure of the King has it chirping from where it sits on Noctis' own shoulder, tail hitting him in the back of the head.
"Hey, watch it," he mutters, reaching up to swat at the tail and looking over where the Carbuncle is making excited noises. And that's when he catches sight of familiar shoes, familiar robes.
He freezes where he sits, blue eyes going wide.
"Dad?"
It's noisy around them but Noctis can't hear any of what's going on. Instead, he's just thinking about the last time he saw his father - sending him off on a journey that would be longer than ever intended. Walk tall, my son. And how later he regretted all the things he hadn't said.
He makes a lot of noise clambering out of his seat. Unlike his reunion with Lunafreya, he doesn't hesitate. He gets up, and runs over to his father, throwing his arms around him and squeezing him as tightly as he can manage in a hug.
