kaede likes kate a lot and he trusts her a fair amount! probably more than she trusts him, which is fair. he's kind of latched onto her as someone who knows what's going on and actually cares to explain things to him, even though she doesn't know basically anything about him or what made him the way he is. that's part of why he's not prying into what kate's deal is, because like.... he cares about her but he doesn't see why her past Matters if she or him don't want it to matter. the past should be in the past, as far as he's concerned.

kaede doesn't understand maruki at all LMFAO. the man seems nice and compassionate and it's not something kaede is used to, at all, but he doesn't... understand it. he's willing to try what maruki suggests and he's definitely on board with working on him and whatever this """"therapy"""" thing entails but he doesn't really Get It. therapy isn't a thing back home!!! (at least not that he knows of)

but also maruki is nice to look at even if kaede would never acknowledge that

it's nice seeing there's another person who doesn't understand what the fuck is going on and who sees everyone else as fucking weird, even if he also doesn't understand whatever the fuck ledo is going on about. ledo seems like someone he can trust, though, because he seems so straightforward and not like the kind of person who's going to make a big deal out of nothing or be anything less than 100% honest and blunt about his feelings and he appreciates that as someone who doesn't get Nuance.

BUT FOR SOME ACTUAL TL;DR rei is.................. rei just had the bad luck to be associated with people kaede really hates LMFAO and, like, he leaned into that really hard and kaede doesn't know what to DO with all of these emotions he's feeling. He Does Not Like Them, and he doesn't like feeling them, so rei has become the target of every rational and irrational negative feeling he has because that's... easier than trying to process them on his own......... maybe some day he'll be less 🔪 but. we'll see.
