Zidane might actually be one of Darin's best friends and I have no idea how it happened. In their short time together they've been swept up in so much dumb crap!

But seriously, Darin actually really enjoys Zidane. He knows how to have fun, when to get serious, and he lets things roll off his back probably even better than Darin can. I absolutely love how they can be serious at one moment, then completely be ridiculous the next. The fact that they can both go with the flow really lends to their dynamic!

So, being one of the first people that Darin met and told about his BIG, DARK SECRET, he obviously trusts Zel a lot. Darin wishes Zel wasn't so gloomy though, and he wonders what his old traveling party was like to make him so completely cynical.

He's also really interested in his experiences with Shabranigdo and Rezo and all of that crap because after he hulked out, he wants to be able to actually control that power. Zel will probably think that's a super bad idea! But Darin will keep annoying him until he helps him figure his powers out!

okay, so first off? Darin has a crazy amount of respect for Barbara. Fighting side by side with dragons? In his world, dragons are like forces of nature and no one's managed to tame one, let alone do the things Barbara can. He absolutely trusts his back to her; loyalty is absolutely not a question to him when it comes to her.

But he also empathizes with feeling like an outsider and he hates that Barbara feels that way. He wants to help her understand society more, but he'd never want to change her. He likes her just the way she is.

He might also be sourcing materials to make her a spear as a present shhhh

So here's the thing. Darin really cares about Caster. Like...a lot. He sees someone who is so much like him, in so much pain, so miserable, and he gets it. He knows that the only real difference between Caster and himself is...well...he's surrounded by people who care about him and not trapped in an eternal war.

In a way, saving Caster is synonymous with saving himself, and that's why he's not going to give up on her. With Souichirou gone, Darin is going to be doing his best to protect her from the people who might want revenge on her but also convincing her that maybe living in Avalon could work out for her. And he's going to give it his all to give her something to live for!

Dariiiin he's so good I swear- and the sad part is he's right on the money about her, however much she hates to admit it. She's convinced he'll give up on her after all this- but darn those stupid stubborn shounen protag sorts! So stubborn!

So, Darin is insanely protective of Mukuro (like any good big brother, really). Even though he has no idea why she dresses up the way she does or what her 'mission' is, he has no doubt she'll trust him with the details in time. Until then, he wants to give her the space she needs to trust him while also learning about firearms from her.

He does hope that she'll be able to tell him the whole truth eventually. And he wants her to be able to depend on him.

....So Darin has a lot of complicated feelings about Allura.

On the one hand, he is insanely attracted to her. Like, holy crap, he thinks she's hot and he can't stop thinking about her. But the fact that she doesn't seem to have any sense of...well, self-preservation? Beyond saving everyone around her? It makes him almost feel bad for her. He has no idea how to cope with this attraction to her but her insane desire to sacrifice her own happiness and well-being at every turn.

He wants to make her happy. Among other things.

Okay so, at first? Darin couldn't really stand him! He had a sort of holier-than-thou air about him, especially the way he looked down on people for having faith in heroes. Mostly because, once upon a time, Darin was one of those people with faith! But after their talk, Darin...actually feels kind of bad for Emet-Selch.

Like, he clearly isn't without compassion. It's just that what he knows of the world doesn't jive with what everyone else knows. It's like he's cursed to know what life was like before the worlds were fractured but repairing it would murder billions of people.

Darin wants to learn more about him and the world before everything went to hell and maybe he can show him why heroes are such a big deal!
