the tl;cr meme

the tl;dr character relationships meme

It's exactly what it sounds like! tl;dr about your character and their current relationships with others in game, or use it as a sounding board to talk about how potential cr might go down in future.

steps:
1. leave a toplevel with your character's name
2. comment to others' toplevels with the character relationship(s) you'd like them to tl;dr about
3. reply to their response with your own characters' thoughts on the cr!
4. gush/commiserate/poke fun at/meme on all our dumb characters and their dumb interactions idk
5. feel free to use the responses to throw together a cr chart, or link one if you already have one!

so basically everything Hawk thought would turn Chris off him she's just gone "so what?" like the Monstrum/Clone thing. How much of a surprise has that been for Hawk to deal with?

He's very confused because he's used to people outright hating them. While we don't see it in canon, his comments to White Cat at times indicate that from the moment they appeared on the scene they were treated as criminals before any of them did anything wrong, which appears to be true considering how fast Crimson King got a price on his head and that the more "harmless" Monstrums such as Raging Bull who didn't even do much more than show up to the Nox battles before she joined the party still had a huge price on her head.

He's also used to public opinion of them being generally people piss or shit themselves at seeing a Monstrum. This actually happens a lot in the game and even generally exploring the city you can hear random screams of "Eek, it's a Monstrum!" as you are just jumping from rooftop to rooftop. The people of Balduq are downright frightened of the Monstrums and Hawk is very much the one who is the cause of a lot of that bad rep. While I definitely run with he's never killed for a reason besides self-defense or the protection of the defenseless, their bad rep has grown to the point that most people think otherwise.

Then to add to that, his canon point comes right after he left the party because he thought they were horrified by the change to his berserker ability. Chris has seen both incarnations of it now, though no one has gotten the incredibly disturbing version of it yet in game that the Monstrums saw and he doesn't even remember all of it and is working off assumption on why they reacted the way they did. I don't blame the party for their reaction, he was incredibly disturbing. But I think their reaction was more shock than disgust because who wouldn't be shocked to see someone who they'd been hanging with suddenly got that bad off and they failed to notice a thing? It's definitely a huge misunderstanding that happened because he's so inclined to think the worst of everyone.

So yeah, he's pretty damn surprised to see someone who isn't disgusted when he thinks everyone has outright hated him just for existing. He's completely baffled as to why she doesn't think he's worthless and a terrible person like everyone else does. People here are weird and confusing to him.

Well the short version is that damn Yuber makes him look sane and rational and that's saying a lot of someone who is pretty bloodthirsty themselves. He's always going to appreciate that Yuber is a good opponent and that won't ever truly go away because a person doesn't need to be good or decent company to be a good opponent.

But it is starting to move in a direction of well Yuber isn't the sort of company Hawk would want to keep. He definitely is starting to feel a lack of trust. His feelings towards Yuber are probably more akin to what Hawk feels for Chatelard in canon. Since I know you're canon blind, Chatelard is one of the villains of Ys IX and Hawk considers him a worthy opponent deserving of respect for his skill and every chance Hawk got he'd want to duel Chatelard. Definitely think Hawk and Yuber are moving towards a similar relationship. Yuber is intolerable as a person, but still deserving of respect for fighting skills and Hawk definitely respects him as a worthy opponent.

tell me how Hawk feels about Bennett

After the event, Hawk is starting to think Bennett is a bit like a younger version of Adol/Crimson King. Both have a similar curiosity and a similar sort of messed up luck. Hawk could totally see Bennett ending up at crazy places by getting shipwrecked and randomly losing ultimate weapons and such. That and Bennett is definitely the people pleaser type like the rest of the Monstrums. This isn't a bad thing but Hawk being wary like he always is, expects that at some point Bennett will find out how terrible of a person he is and be horrified like the others were.

But until then they should totally share stories of adventures if you don't mind spoilers. Breaking into prison is fun times after all and there's plenty of weird shit to share. I just hesitate to give too many spoilers since I know you'd like Ys a lot.
