impressions of some weird kid?

ALRIGHT. Sagi is a funny kid who doesn't seem at all like the type that Hythlodaeus picks up. But then again, Hyth picked up HIM so maybe the trick is that Hyth's type is social misfits. If that's the case then Sagi fits the bill because he at times seems friendly and at other times socially awkward. Emet tolerates him because, well, he has no reason not to and it isn't like Sagi chatters like Hyth does.

He kind of wonders about the girlfriend but other love lives are none of his business. His own is complicated enough. Still, Sagi does seem genuinely smitten so he privately hopes it doesn't end in tragedy. The worst that can happen is someone grows jaded and bitter. Like himself.

Curious what he thinks after everything he's seen/heard

At first, Emet was a bit dismissive of her. Fashion divas don't really interest him and she would have certainly been dressed the part initially. But after seeing her shooting skills at the tourney, he realised there was more to it than that. Hearing that she was once a soldier thus came as little surprise to him - you don't get that good without serious practice or training.

He feels a measure of sympathy for her. He has often been forced to play another role whilst manipulating world events. He is one who gives orders rather than takes them, but still, he understands something of what it's like. And he has had even more cause to think about it as well with Gundham's discussion a while back on how culpable brainwashed soldiers are for their actions. It's kind of shocking to him actually how much he understands her situation.

Sadly he can't offer a solution. His own 'brainwashing' was something tangible that could be broken. Hers isn't. So all he can do is point out that she doesn't have to hide herself around him. He has seen them all kinds of deception by now and it almost hurts to see her wearing that fashionista front. If she keeps leaning on it in private, he may well just outright tell her to drop it around him.

That's sweet...! Ironically Mukuro's of the opinion he couldn't possibly understand who she was or what she's thinking- so she's completely misread the situation there. It's cute he can actually empathise with her situation.

It would definitely be sweet if he called her out on it- or even just called her by her name- she'd be massively blindsided by it.

Ur gross, Hyth

Okay no, Emet is secretly over the moon (lol) that Hyth is here with him in Avalon and he legitimately believes this is the happiest he will ever be. If he dies here, he won't regret much. He will do anything to hold on to his friend and to give his friend a chance to save their world before Hydaelyn and Zodiark emerge. Even though Hyth has said he will take Emet back with him, Emet is prepared to give his life to ensure their world survives.

Day to day, Emet is probably not as snappish as he once was - at least to Hyth. Because he has no idea when their time will end or if he'll even be able to follow Hyth home, he has a greater tendency to humour any ridiculous request Hyth makes. Whether that be a novel experience or just his usual shit-posting, Emet will have been easier to push over than Hyth is accustomed to - though of course, he simply complains louder to cover it.

He loves Hyth, silly man though he is. It has taken him many thousands of years to realise how much he took for granted, but he will do anything to keep his friend, his partner, safe. He'll endure the teasing, the terrible jokes, the horrid "concepts" - because he has already known a world without the people he loves in it and it's a cold and dark one indeed.

Forgive me, new covid wave completely upended my work schedule and plans and I've been in a funk.

Emet is not entirely sure how he feels about Darin. He's glad that the man understands his point of view but he is utterly confused to be receiving such empathy in the first place. He is far more used to people disparaging him or being disgusted - even horrified. Especially as he doesn't really sugarcoat the fact that he has killed so many for his end goal.

So he is cautiously optimistic about Darin. He'll give the guy a chance. It probably helps a bit that Darin is a blacksmith because it isn't as though a blacksmith can choose what his tools go on to do. But Emet is still very adamant about his opinions and therefore he's sensitive to disagreements. He will try and follow his friend's advice and be more patient though, especially when it comes time to explain more about his world and his people.

He still yearns for someone to understand him after all. Someone who isn't Hythlodaeus.
