SUMMARY: New arrivals drop into the lake and have to climb up a cliff to the Rent a Ride, where they are given their device and some headphones and can retrieve their personal materials. There is a small earthquake during this (shaking, some things may fall off of shelves, but no structural damage) that upsets the normal arrival creatures, limiting cliff-falling rescues and sliming the water. They travel to Camelot, which is a multiple day journey, so they stop at the Red Springs along the way and stay at an inn there.

A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival

KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's still chilly, but not enough that you can't manage on your own. The Lady of the Lake is swimming around under the water, helping to rescue any wayward travelers who look like they're struggling in the water. This month's helpers are giant pillow jellies, a species of jellyfish that is capable of ballooning itself at the surface to create bouncy pads for characters to hop across to the shore, should they choose or not be able to swim. They come in a variety of bioluminescent colors, but do not seem to be very talkative even to animal magic users. Those who try may find themselves being ignored, even if they hear the jellies talking amongst themselves about this and that.

In the middle of the new arrivals, there is a small earthquake that shakes the island and makes the waters choppy. The jellyfish are startled and release a glow-in-the-dark slime that may dye your characters' hair and skin until they can get a proper bath. The Lady of the Lake seems disquieted by the earthquake, but there isn't much to be done about it where they are now besides make sure that everyone is outside of the water as quickly as possible.

If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, as the earthquake has scared the cliff beast into hiding, meaning for July's arrivals, there is no safety net. They may need some serious help if a fall occurs!

*Reminder: Your character's familiar may or may not be with your character in their initial plunge. If the familiar isn't partial to water, it may meet your character on the beach or sit atop their head while they swim. Or if they are, they might splash about and swim alongside your character. Familiars have different personalities and body specs and we leave those up to the players.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot

Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones, sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses, and a pair of ear buds and tell them to "Check the Shit Box." The "Shit Box" refers to wardrobe more formally known as the Wardrobe of Finding, a hammerspace-like wardrobe that opens to each person's items and pets when the person touches the handle. It was enchanted by Merlin to prevent people from having to fish their waterlogged possessions and pets out of the water with them. From there, Archimedes directs everyone to settle in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and gives them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The rest of the universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service,

avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring

The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out!

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

SUMMARY: Camelot throws a carnival to combat the warming up weather featuring "cool" foods and contests, Queen Elphame sent gifts of aquatic mounts to practice in gratitude for the offering and peacemaking with Celliwig, and the clean-up for the carnival goes haywire as cleaning implements magically seek to clean everything.

Thankfully, not every minute of Avalon is adventure and trials and rituals. There are moments of respite, and moments to have fun. This July, for example, locals have decided to invite everyone to what they're calling the "Cool Down Carnival"!

Alpacapies: Cousin to the much more violent water horse fae the Kelpies, Alpacapies have been mistaken for baby loch ness monsters on more than one occasion given their penchant for sitting with just their hump and long neck above the waterline. They can be ridden in the water and tend to bond with people who are polite to them upon greeting. They will assist in combat by spitting water at their enemies or kicking with front legs, but they may shake you off if they need to deep dive to gain speed for an attack. They do not have back legs, only a dolphin-like fin. For some reason, they're really impossible to take photographs of.

Mossatees: You're familiar with the mossatee already. A special breed of manatee that grows flowers and moss on its back like a miniature garden. They blossom in the spring, and their backs can be very comfortable. They're a little clumsy and tend to run into things, both accidentally and on purpose, so it may be a bit of a derpy ride if you and your partner choose a mossatee. They also just had a lot of children, so part of riding with them will mean protecting their young on the journey. They're not good in combat and will prioritize defense.

Deinosuchus: A Cretaceous crocodile that gets up to about 10 meters long. It's huge and carnivorous and very well could eat you if you piss it off. It is fast, but has to take a lot of breaks. It will also terrorize in a fight. The fae recommend bringing it a goat or some other similarly sized meal to get it on your side if you want to go for this one. This pack is the only one left, transported by fairies to Avalon long, long ago, so you'd better not let them down.

C ⦿ Clean Up Chaos

As people head out for the second day of practice with their mounts or recover from a crazy carnival experience, things around town... seem a little off. It seems like someone tried some experimental magic after competing in the Margaritaville challenge feeling particularly benevolent. All around Camelot, cleaning utensils have taken on a life of their own. Brooms are sweeping customers right out of restaurants, sponges are scrubbing up dishes and chasing down patrons for the most public sponge baths of their life, and the local woodland creatures are assisting in picking up and taking away anything that touches the floor that ought not to be there. Some are even hopping up on residents to do their hair!

Whatever the source is, the only solution is to either destroy or scare the cleaning supplies off to the woods before they take over the whole town! A little magic should help, so why not test out the magic you've been working on since arriving in Avalon?

SUMMARY: The earthquake busted some of the Land of Rot wards and zombies are attacking Camelot's farmland. Save the farm, restore the wards, fight a giant worm, and then find a mysterious marsh before getting transported back home just as mysteriously.

The earthquake on arrival day was a little frightening, but ultimately didn't seem to cause too much trouble around New Camelot. That is, until a few days later when the farmlands seem to be under attack.. by the undead!? It seems like the wards surrounding the Lands of Rot were disrupted by the earthquake near Camelot's northeast farmland. '

First zombies, then a giant worm... today's been exhausting! And now you're.. somewhere in the middle of the Land of Rot and you seem to have run into some kind of marsh that you don't remember passing on your way in. The water itself is murky and the only creatures around seem to be bugs, bats, snakes, and frogs. Everything seems sickly, rotting, and is pretty awfully stinky. But none of it is quite as terrifying as when you and whoever you wandered into the Land with stumble upon what appears to be some kind of old hag.

What happens next? Who knows. She screams and both you and whoever you're with pass out and wake up snuggling in an inn room. You were definitely in that marsh though, because your pants are still sopping from trudging through it... Well, enjoy the panic, maybe interrogate your neighbors, and try to find out where in the Land of Rot you were! It sure doesn't seem to be on the map... What a mystery!

「i. beat the summer sun」

( Arrival was... annoying. Traveling was... also annoying!!! The fact he has a talking cat— bakeneko, he corrects himself, because it's extremely stubborn about the difference...

That's also a little annoying, but he has a soft spot for kitties. Shiro's content as long as he gets the white bakeneko a shaved ice here and there to share, and Yuki idly pets its head as he strolls around the festival. One of these treats is a little more on the magical side though, and while Yuki doesn't partake in it...

His familiar isn't so lucky, and it also has claws, actually, so mind the fairly large white cat with the extra long tail sailing down the slip-n-slide with its sharps out-stretched, yowling happily(?). Yuki's on standby at the bottom with what rudimentary healing magic he learned he can do while on the way here, though he looks so Done as he moves over to the next injured-by-his-familiar person. )

Can't you guys just get out of the way...? ( it isn't that easy, and he knows it, but hello! ) I swear, everyone that goes down this slide is useless.

( ...he's complaining but he's still healing you so ? you know. )

「ii. quest: summer fever」

( ...The quest doesn't seem too hard, and yeah, Yuki saw "teddies" and immediately hopped over. Shiro is resting on some fabric he isn't using for now, and instead of delivering them, Yuki is... making them look Much Cuter.

But you are going to be delivering them to patients, so as soon as he's satisfied with the accessories and outfit on one of these cute little toys — the rare Yuki Smile of approval, even — he's shoving it some poor quest-goer's way. Not with a smile, because only kids and cute things get that. )

Here. ( :/ ) Don't keep the kids waiting.

( ...of course, if you want to help out with sewing then that's perfectly okay too!! He has extra materials. You may just need to fight his familiar for them, because Shiro is preeeeeeetty comfortable where it is. )

[ Juza is a big, strong lifter-carrier, even though the teddies don't weigh that much. Without healing magic, his purpose and help is better served carrying supplies for those that can make use of them. He's just fine to, and stops for anyone who's got a carrying task for him. Yuki is someone Juza recognizes and someone he won't talk back to. ]

'Kay.

[ He doesn't smile either—only kids get that, right. But someone who knows him has a chance at catching a spark in his eye. He's happy that he guessed right, that more people from MANKAI would come and soon too. Even if that leaves him postponing his delivery-man-purpose for a moment. Again the teddies aren't heavy, he can hold them for a while. ]

You got here, already.

( ...Well, if it's another actor from MANKAI, he can allow them a little bit of a pause. )

Could say the same for you. ( Yuki carefully places a flower pattern over the next teddie bear, pursing his lips before he sets it aside and looks for another. Maybe a cloud design would look nicer with its eyes...? Or something purple — he finds a nice deep lavender and sticks some pins in it to keep it in place. ) How long have you been here already? 'cause I gotta say, I met up with Doggie earlier, and if you've been around as long as he has then that explains how he's managed to stay alive.

[ Juza thinks the purple looks good, but that's probably just intuition. ~~Why else?~~ Though, he doesn't say it and he's learning to not just throw his thoughts around for anyone else's mind to net them; can't imagine Yuki'd give him as much of a break for that. So he just does his broody stare at the teddy. ]

Just for a month... [ It doesn't feel that long. That's something he hadn't considered after just getting here...... without Omi to feed him sweets to refuel him after his unfortunate hike. It wasn't the only thing he and Taichi bonded over, though. ]

Taichi got here way before I did. [ He survived all on his own. And even more: ] He helped me out a lot.

( ...Huh. Yuki pauses in finding a good thread (white? no, he's almost out... he'll ask someone to grab him some more; black will just have to do for now), glancing up at Juza, then returns to his work. )

Alright, then colored me surprised you're not both dead. ( Still... Taichi, all that time... No wonder he'd been so happy to see him. Maybe he should've been a little nicer. ) Make that delivery quick and I'll let you help me pick out dress fabrics. We can catch up more then, but you shouldn't keep children waiting.

When I got here, he said he missed all of us. Been some time. [ So, that's harsh. But probably true enough. The reason for Juza's survival, at least at one acute point, is really Sakyo and that'd be a better fit for the argument too. There's no debating with MANKAI's costume specialist, though. ]

's... I'll go hand 'em out. [ Then catch up, they've got to. Even though it hasn't been that long on one side of this place.

Despite Juza's face, there isn't a whole lot more crying in his wake when he returns. ]

( That's good — seems like some things have improved, or maybe the kids here are just a little sturdier than the ones back home. Yuki's laid out several different patterns in the meanwhile, from plaids to polka dots to more simple gradients. There's a few plain blocks of color too, of course.

Juza gets a look when he returns, and Yuki motions him to sit down. )

[ Completely unstopped by the bakeneko thanks to his own familiar, a red slime that jumped up to make a slide right over the cat (and probably drip the feline in goop on the way), Taichi Nanao comes flying out at Yuki across the water slide with bright eyes and arms outstretched, yelping as he slides right over the slime and cat into an aerial maneuver. He doesn't seem too bothered though, because that's Yuki there!? ]

YUKI-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

[ ...he hasn't had any slushie, he just saw a slip and slide and who wouldn't want to jump in??

Though, mid-air, his landing is precariously heading right for Yuki if Yuki doesn't move fast... ]

( It's surprising and yet not surprising at all to see Taichi here. "Here" as in the water slide area, not the world as a whole, he's still unpacking that part of this. It feels like it's just some weird dream born out of working too hard on KniRoun costumes, except that play's been over and done with so he has no reason to dream about it—

[ Akapoyo-kun Jr. seems just as pleased as Taichi does too be batted around by their grumpier counter part right now. Taichi is decidedly messier than the jovial slime, though, and grind sheepishly at Yuki before realizing Yuki's kneeling next to him. He thought he would just moved out of the way and let him wallow!! He looks surprised for a second, then flattered, then flustered and worried. ]

( What a flurry of feelings... but that just means this is definitely, 100% Taichi Nanao. How nice. How weird. Taichi is also 100% right, and Yuki very, very seriously debates standing up and just leaving him there. Very, very seriously debates it.

[ He does get up though, laughing as he tries to push some of the mud off of his clothes onto the floor. Sometimes boys have to get messy! Well, boys like Taichi anyway. He wouldn't dare get Yuki messy. ]

[ Even though Sakyo is still adjusting to the whole quest system put in place in the world, it's the easiest way to make money, so he supposes until he can figure out a stable job for himself he'll have to settle with this odd errands once in a while. At least this one isn't too difficult. Having healing magic, he's able to at least tend to certain patients until using too much of his magic exhausts him, and so he moves over to a different errand. He's helped out at the cafeteria, picked up supplies, and now he's being ushered to pick up teddy bears for some of the younger children who have fallen ill.

Little does he expect to walk into a room full of teddy bears in surprisingly well-made outfits, and a crass young woman that is not a woman at all. He waits until the individual sulks and walks away after being told off by such a "cute girl", then Sakyo sighs as he leans against the doorway. ]

I'm getting real tired of picking you lot out of the city like this.

And I'm getting real tired of seeing the mugs of you Autumn Troupe members.

( His smart mouth never misses a beat, though he spares Sakyo a glance. Give him a moment, he'll finish the little slime decoration on this bear's skirt and set it aside. His bakeneko familiar immediately claims it as its toy to snuggle, but Yuki pays no mind to it for the moment. As long as the claws aren't out, it's okay.

...And you ke says that, but it's good to have people he knows already around. )

Are you gonna make yourself useful, or are you gonna stand in people's way?

Sorry to say there's at least three of these mugs, so get used to it.

[ He watches idly as some strange looking cat just kidnaps that last bear Yuki was working on, yet strangely enough, he doesn't seem to retort about it. Huh. Must be his familiar then.

With a click of his tongue and a heavy sigh Sakyo steps right on in. ]

If you want help then at least ask. Is there even a point to dressing these bears up?

Duh. Every bear deserves to look cute for whoever they're going to, right? And it'll make people happy to see them all dolled up. ( And because Yuki didn't want to go running around delivering them, but he didn't feel confident enough in healing people, either. He's good at sewing clothes; why not dress up the toys a little? ) Anyway, was that creepy looking cat your familiar?

[ Sakyo just crosses his arms and gives a dismissive hum. Honestly it just sounds like a waste of time to be dressing up toys, but he supposes that Yuki's got a point, and at least he's using his own natural talent to his advantage while still helping around in the hospital. Still, it's pretty lazy work. ]

That thing? Either it belongs to someone in this hospital and its wandering around, or its definitely yours. My familiar's accounted for. Oi, Tora.

[ Suddenly Sakyo's familiar appears right beside him, a huge komainu that gives a shake of its fur before doing a large yawn and a stretch. Once it processes that there's another individual in the room that it doesn't recognize it quickly begins to growl in defense— until it stops with a whine as Sakyo gives it a hard whack. ]

( one of the downsides of living at the inn is that... well. it's an inn. you're not supposed to live in it. you're supposed to take a few days off, avoid cooking for yourself, etc.

man, she really needs to finish saving up for a deposit on a place. it's going to be weird living in an apartment again after a year of the Mankai dorms and months in this inn, but maybe it'll be nice to have her own private place? unfortunately, saving is going to have to wait a little bit because she's starving and any leftover feast curry has already been eaten. or given to Taichi and Juza.

so, as a result, she's passing through the foyer on her way to get dinner when a very familiar head of green hair stops her in her tracks. )

Eh? Yuki-kun?

( she was at the lake to find her actors! how did she miss this one? )

( yuki looks up at the same time as his familiar does — though this only means the bakeneko, upon noticing yuki doesn't look back down, snags some of his food to throw onto the ground and play with. yuki shoots the white, long-tailed cat a look, but there are more important things here. )

Invading here too, Currian? ( this is said only with love, but just, yuki's brand of love. lemony. ) ...Hi.

Of course! ( Currian really is a compliment, okay?! Izumi believes so, anyway. ) I go wherever there's curry.

( Izumi laughs, glancing at Yuki's familiar as her joke subsides and her smile takes on a softer, warmer touch. her boys are all arriving, and relief washes over her when she sees each of their faces, safe and whole, in front of her.

the part of her which itches to get back to theatre, in a way beyond the odd backstage jobs she's been doing since she got here, also grows louder. it may still take a while, she thinks, but the growing presence of the Mankai Company's actors reassures her that it's possible. )

( but most importantly... it's been a long arrival process, hasn't it? she remembers learning way too many strange things, how overwhelming it all seemed, and she doesn't want to leave Yuki without a chance to talk, if that's what he wants. )

Could've done without the impromptu swimming lesson, but the jellyfish were cute, so I guess it wasn't that bad.

( Translation: it was "tolerable". )

There was an earthquake too — I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that doesn't usually happen. ( That Lady of the Lake seemed a little... uneasy about it. ) Way too much walking for my taste though. I'm young, so it's not like it was that much of a struggle, but still. You'd think they'd have an elevator or something.

Not usually. ( well, at least, not when she arrived. it's enough of a task to get through the arrival as it is, nobody needs an earthquake on top of that. those stairs? ugh. her legs burned for hours after that. even picking jogging back up wouldn't have made it any easier. )

[Hikaru was really over here for his instagram. Being rich doesn't usually lend itself to Hikaru doing this type of volunteer work but people like to see a sort of idealized life and really, Hikaru needs to come off as nice as possible. So he's here to 'help'. Really, he's doing the bare minimum which was delivering the teddies to kids.

He is distracted by Yuki's sewing. It isn't unheard of to find other people who sew but it's still interesting. Not in a shared interest sort of way but Hikaru likes to see what the competition is. Yuki isn't bad, he can tell that much, but any other positive thought he could have had is ruined when Yuki just hands him the bear.]

And what will you be doing? Going to keep wasting fabric on toys?

( Yuki's look turns venomous, and he goes back to doing just that: "wasting fabric on toys," fingers skipping over patterns until he finds one he likes and setting it against the next bear he has. )

It isn't wasting fabric. Kids like it when you put a little extra effort into their gifts — 'sides, they're cuter this way. No one'd be mad getting something this cute. ( Despite his heated look, his voice is carefully controlled; he's more focused on his task at hand than some older brat who wants to give him lip on his life choices. ) Either stop running your mouth and start running that bear out of here, or make yourself useful. No one's paying you to take pictures, Pretty Boy.

( "Pretty Boy" is Not said like a compliment. )

[Yuki is right, kids aren't dumb. Although he doesn't think any kid would be happy with these bears but he's biased in his own ways. As a kid, him and his twin are been creative.
