What Draws You To Your Character?

Hey, it's a not-meme.

One thing I always find fascinating in this hobby is what draws people to the characters they play so this is me asking you that.

What drew you to your characters? What do you find fun about them? What aspects of them do you find easy or difficult?

For OCs, talk about how you came up with the idea for them and why you wanted to give them a spin in this hobby.

I have a fatal weakness for 'what's grief, can I eat it' stories. (No really, I'm that weirdo who LIKED As I Lay Dying. XD) Persona 3 is... Very Much one of those, though I admit I didn't click with it when I tried an FES LP. It took Portable, and specifically FemC, to get me to care.

Shinji basically just barged into my headspace and demanded some attention, and who was I to argue? XD He's specifically here as CRAU for a few reasons: one, so Shiro isn't the only one explaining Syn's Everything; two, because he got dragged kicking and screaming through a little character growth that was worth keeping; and three, because he actually undid some serious immune-system damage of a degree that would've left him with pneumonia from BEING DROPPED IN A LAKE FIRST THING.
