What Draws You To Your Character?
Hey, it's a not-meme.
One thing I always find fascinating in this hobby is what draws people to the characters they play so this is me asking you that.
Read, converse, ask questions!
You can answer in list form, prose form, whatever form you're most comfortable with and with as much or as little detail as you want.

What drew you to your characters? What do you find fun about them? What aspects of them do you find easy or difficult?
For OCs, talk about how you came up with the idea for them and why you wanted to give them a spin in this hobby.

maruki~ (major P5R spoilers be here)
And then the reveal happens and... yeah, my "I like him because he's cute and helps the main cast" feelings bumped straight into "I will obsessively watch every piece of meta about him and talk a lot about his descent into well intentioned villainry". I love the ethical / moral questions which come with his choices - would you accept this deal? Is living in Maruki's world really living? How necessary is pain to the human experience? - and the sinister twist everything he does takes on when you really look at it. (For reference, if anyone wants a really good look at Maruki's character and actions in game, I recommend checking out ThoughtBubble on YouTube who analyses Maruki's counselling sessions from the POV of a counselling student. He makes excellent points that really help you pinpoint some of the creepy ass layers that are added to Maruki's actions pre-semester 3).
What I find fun about him is that he is genuinely, in intention and (most) action, a good person. Everything he does comes from a place, in his mind, of trying to help others. But his beliefs have been so twisted by the things he's seen and the power he received back home that he's just no longer in a place to be able to help people in the area he specialises in (psychology) and is unable to see it. I love that tragic contradiction his pain causes within him.
The hardest thing about him... YEAH if you didn't get it from all of that. Bitch is difficult to write if I'm tired. He will ramble so much about psych if allowed to, and if I'm allowed to get going, I will also happily go on tangents about him in tags. It can take a lot of brain power to get going with him and having to balance not writing TL;DR every time while still showing off the facets of who he is... He's definitely my most challenging character but I also love that a lot.
