To paraphrase one of my favourite lines from Mass Effect 3, there is no von Hresvelg without Eisner. Byleth gives Edelgard hope for the future, the idea that there is a life after her work is finished. She's daring to dream big here, and that's all because of her teacher. The few months in Avalon have been among the happiest in her life, recent events notwithstanding because no huge responsibilities have been placed on them, nothing is expected. They can just be.

The biggest thing she's become aware of (as has Byleth) is that while they are super in sync with each other, that's not always necessarily a good thing. It's caused Edelgard to think that they need to step back more and really think outside their normal comfort zones, at least in big, important matters, as they are so similar in thinking and temperament there's likely things they're both missing. So in a way, Byleth is still pushing Edelgard to grow and learn, which is a positive, and says something about how even the downsides to being with Byleth can still be made into strengths. That's the strength of their bond with each other. Damn near unbreakable.
