Monika finds Asriel totally adorbs, even though she is vaguely aware of his past as an omnicidal flower thanks to that mirror event. She's also vaguely guessing he may be from something that broke the fourth-wall thanks to the video game event. As the villain of a fourth-wall breaking game, she knows how tough that is. And she's pretty disgusted as whoever made his game because who would do that to a child. Sure someone did that to her, but at least she's eighteen so technically an adult...

Basically, Toby Fox is on her shit list.

Gotta protect the child! She's afraid Chara may be a bad influence on him, gaslighting him and all. ... She got experience, a former sociopath can recognize another. That said with recent threads, she's getting to the idea that ultimately, Chara is probably a victim in the grand scheme of things. So... Gotta protect the children?

The clearly ought to break out of dreamwidth to go tell Toby Fox and Dan Salvato what they think about their dumb games.

She thinks Griffin looks like a real nice person and she'd like to get to know him more... While she's not going through a mental breakdown. She absolutely hates herself for that first impression and she's going to over-compensate to try and completely erase said first impression whenever they next meet.

She's also considering telling him the truth, if only so he doesn't think she's a complete nutcase. She's told it to a few people so that's getting easier to say. She's just afraid he'll assume she's even more of a mental case after hearing the truth.

Sentient video game characters! That's madness, isn't it?

Yeah, that was a rough first meeting for sure! Griffin would never judge someone for having a bad brain day - when you're distressed, you're distressed! He gets it. If he ever realizes how hard she's trying to make up for their first meeting, he'll feel awful. As far as he's concerned, she was just having a really bad day. He was happy he was able to help, even though it also didn't feel like he'd actually done much.

That said, he would feel pretty honored if she decided to tell him the truth. He wouldn't lie and say he's not curious, but he's also not the kind of guy to pry. His main goal whenever he meets someone new is to get to know them on their terms, so whatever Monika wants to share or to keep to herself is alright by him.

She really does want to share, it's just so painful every time she has to retell her story. Brain bleach plox? That'd be convenient. If she forgets, she doesn't have to tell anyone!

And don't worry, she'll be very good at over-compensating so hooopefully he won't have to feel bad.

Their last thread was really sweet

It was! It may actually have been the cutest thread she's had all month considering everything else has been an utter and complete disaster for her ever since August's event. Considering their thread was forward-dated to sometimes after the 22nd too, that's probably been a source of comfort in the midst of the disaster that is her life.

She also feels totally cool sharing her true story with him— Which makes him one of the rare people she considers telling the story to without some kind of outside accident acting as a catalyst. She didn't tell him simply because she didn't want to think too much about it at the moment. She honestly wishes there'd be brain bleach somewhere...

But yeah, she'd really like to get to know him better and hang out with him some more. She feels he's trustworthy (which is something she really needs after the kipposhi accident) and fun-- She's just not looking forward to having to say her story again.

Embrace the Hate

She doesn't hate him! Sorta...

She's very angry. She realizes he's most likely just done what he thought was best and screwed up big time. She realizes he probably didn't have any bad intents. So she doesn't hate him. When she thinks about it rationally, she feels even her anger isn't justified. But she can't help it. Obviously ever since she's arrived in Avalon, she's been really anxious about finding a boyfriend/girlfriend. What with the video game event having traumatized her, it got worse.

Kind of like in DDLC, she believes that "love" will solve her problems. She knows it won't deep down, but believing that does help. On top of that there are insecurities linked to DDLC. Why was she the only non-dateable girl, why did the player betray her, is she not good enough, is there something wrong with her? So when he made her feel as though she was so close to finally get there, only for everything to collapse? That hurts on a lot of levels. It kind of amplified her every problem and made her wonder if maybe it wasn't the game stopping her from being dateable.

Maybe there's something fundamentally wrong with her that makes her unlovable? She doesn't want to give up though. And so Kipposhi finds himself as the scapegoat. He's kind of become the symbol of every single issues she has on a subconscious level. So it's less about hating him, and more about him having become the avatar for all of her fears, insecurities and self-loathing.

.... If she realized that, then maybe she could "forgive" him (and also apologize herself).

honestly that feels about right, and runs pretty parallel to his own feelings on the matter. like shit, what if he's genuinely not capable of having normal relationships, least of all romantic ones, any longer. every single "romance" in his life served a greater purpose towards his ambition, and he also realizes he feels permanently stuck in this adolescent mindset of "things will work out even if i don't follow common sense" and boy sometimes it don't

They really need to talk! It's more like a big misunderstanding than genuinely hateful feelings. And she does think he needs help, too.

..... But she's still too angry for that. It may take a lot to pierce past all the scapegoating she's put on him.
