Name: Leo Belgicus
Species: Lion
Why did you pick this familiar for your character?: Got the idea from the Benelux lion caricature, basically when you look at the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxemburg on a map they look like a lion. That's, of course, an oversimplification of it. But! Wiki entry. The lion is also part of the Coat of Arms of Belgium. So it just made sense to me at the time.
Special features: It's a lion. A large, male lion with an incredibly fluffy mane. Probably stronger than your typical lion, and a bit more lazy. Most likely sentient as well.
How do they communicate?: It's a lion silly, it can't speak! But she's really good with cats, and with the lion having human-level intelligence communication is possible!
Personality: Lazy, protective, tends to sleep most of the day and eat a lot. Tends to be pretty territorial, especially towards male cats and any canines around.
Relationship with your character: Of course they get along, she feeds him and he sometimes carries her stuff and helps her out. When he isn't sleeping. By and large, since the idea is that he's the Belgian Lion and all they're pretty close on a near spiritual level~!
The FAQ says familiars have "shit to do" when not attending their bonded character. What does your familiar do in its off hours?: Sleep, eat, chase cats and dogs away from her little flat. Sometimes goes out and hunts when he feels like it.
Does, or would, your familiar get along with other familiars?: He doesn't really care much for other familiars, so long as they don't bother Belgium or himself. Is a lion. A fluffy lion. A semi-pudgy lion that needs to go out and about with her more.

Why did you pick these types for your character?: It's a bit meta, but they just seemed like they would make brewing beer easier.
How does your character cast their magic? Not flashy at all! Just kind of happens.
How does your character feel about their magic?: It's neat, but she'd rather have the modern conveniences from home.
How skilled is your character with their magic? Pretty skilled at this point! But could get better!
