A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's chilly waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's paralyzingly cold for a few seconds before you're approached by the Lady of the Lake beneath the water's surface. She puts a vial of a vibrant, glowing red Everwarm* potion to your character's lips. The icy water doesn't feel so icy once consumed and you'll be able to move your limbs enough to swim to shore on your own. She can't stick around to explain, she's got to get this to all the new arrivals! Many of which you'll see plopping in around you.

If you can't swim, a handful of helpful ice turtles will scoop you up from beneath and drop you off at the shore. When not helping people, the turtles are going around and hitting the ice that keeps forming on the surface with their shells to keep the surface open for the falling arrivals or pushing personal items to the beach near the new arrivals they smell like (belong to). If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. If anyone with Animal Magic asks the turtles, they will give the full spiel, but very slowly, and they like to get off topic and gossip about other turtles you've never heard of. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones, a pair of earbuds, and a winter cloak** to everyone before getting them settled in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and give them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The rest of the universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out!

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

Everyone needs a little fun from time to time; the locals have put together the annual Snow Games. As with all things Avalonians plan, magic plays a part in the competition. There will be three separate tiers for characters to enter. Each Tier will have its predetermined track or ring, set up and ready to go.

A ⦿ Foot Races
The footraces will be run on foot, competitors will be tied together in a three-legged race-style competition... except this binding is magic! The only way to end it is to cross the finish line.

Along the route, racers can expect to run into minor obstacles such as snow bunnies, puddles that can’t be jumped, a flock of snowbirds giving hassle, trees that upend their own roots and move to confuse the pathway. Whatever the interruption, it will come in the form of either a small creature made of magical snow or some minor hindrance to the path. Competitors will have to use magic to overcome these obstacles. Whatever your magic class, find a way.

B ⦿ Sled Races
The sled races will be run on magically driven sleds requiring two drivers. Races will not run on one kind of magic alone so be sure to mingle with other classes for this competition. Whatever magic class a character is, they will be required to feed magic into the sled to keep it going; the more magic, the faster it will go.

On the path, obstacles will come in the form of wholly washed out portions of the track that need to be reformed using magic to pass. Use elemental magic to flatten rocky areas or wash away debris. Larger creatures such as snow deer and moose congregate in large groups blocking the path, so an animal magic user could be useful for asking them to move... someone with cognitive magic could try their hand at a little hypnotizing a fellow newcomer with big muscles to move fallen logs for them. Healing mages could easily use buffers to support their fellow magicians with temporarily increased speed or strength. Use light magic to sneak past living obstacles, or dark users can cast a love enchantment and make a love match between two moose even though it's far from spring. There are tons more creative uses of magic to help you get through the obstacles on the sled's pathway. Find a creative way to use magic and get through the obstacle; make sure you are faster than the other guy.

C ⦿ Snow Chicken
Snow Chicken, Magic Vs Yeti Style... This competition will differ from the previous two; it is not a race to the finish line but instead a competition to be the last team standing! Participants will pair off and one person will climb on the shoulders of the other and try to wrestle their opponents off without getting knocked off themselves. The field is full of snow, with more coming from the sky. Your opponents will be Yeti. Try to stay on, Yeti are no slouches so teams will have to work together using their magic not only to stay put but to knock your big-footed opponents to the ground.

Just... be wary, these friendly yeti are surprisingly big on hugging as a form of congratulations. It's much more challenging to escape from a yeti's embrace than it is to knock one over.

Trumpets hail an announcement by the town crier in front of the castle. More than a few people pull out their phones to record it and post it to the AOL network for all to see.

"Hear ye, hear ye! Our noblest of lords, King Arthur of Camelot, will host a tournament on this January the 20th on castle grounds. All are welcome to participate in competitions to determine those most skilled in both the physical and magical arts. In preparation for the upcoming tournament, we are sending envoys to Celliwig. In Celliwig lies the Magic Mirror of the South, gifted to Camelot by the Fae, and a means to communicate with their royal court at will. It is a vastly important task in your journey to become magicians and to show your good will toward the fairies. Parts of the mirror's frame have been damaged. We will need those brave of soul and pure of heart to retrieve the crystals needed to repair the mirror. Those interested, the party leaves at dawn."

A ⦿ Brave of Soul
The first stop on the trip to restore Celliwig's Mirror is to a cave just north of Albion's White Cliffs. No longer a part of the cliffs themselves, this outcropping goes underground and to a dank, dark cave. It is the only place which a special prismatic crystal grows. The crystal itself is hidden deep in the cave, which can only be passed by passing into a zone in which magic cannot be used. Characters will enter the cave and must face an illusion of one of their greatest fears. Those frozen in fear will pass out and wake up outside of the cave with no crystal. Those who run will find themselves turned out of the cave as well. Only those who recognize and face that fear deep in their soul will find the path forward. The fear will turn into a small light spirit, which will smile and reveal to them the crystals they seek.

B ⦿ Pure of Heart
The second stop is past a shanty town and at the bridge north of it. The bridge itself is broken, only the ends in existence. The water itself is impassible, white rapids sweeping away anything that steps into it. Silver crystals are on the other side of the bridge, visible in an outcropping from where they are, but it appears there is no way around as magic does not work on the bridge. The only clue as to how to get across is a plaque in the dirt before the bridge.

"The pure of heart will form the bridge with a leap of faith."

Since everyone has gone as a group, it will be possible to see others walking over the water once one person figures it out. Though the clue may seem challenging, it is quite straight-forward. Characters who are pure of heart will find that if they believe in themselves, they will be able to step off the bridge and hardlight will form beneath their feet to allow them to step over the water. Those with ill intentions or those who are willing to harm others to get their way will slip into the rapid waters and may need to be saved by other characters. At least you're off the bridge, so magic will work to that end.

C ⦿ Celliwig, the Splendored Court
As the travelers leave the bridge, they turn toward the shanty town-- wood shacks and failing farms. Not a place anyone would want to visit. Those who try to run ahead will find that it disappears as if an illusion, and they will find nothing. Those who stick with the party will wait a fair distance away until the sun sets. Once the sun begins to fall beyond the horizon, the small town will begin to shimmer brilliant whites and colors-- a glamour hiding its true glory, a city made solely of crystals and glass: Celliwig, the Splendored Court. Though smaller than Camelot, every part of the city is beautiful and glistening. The population is small and it's very quiet and serene for a city. The people of the city don't seem keen on speaking to outsiders, and will typically scatter before anyone can really engage them. They seem humanoid in nature, but not entirely human. Even the animals around the city seem to be ethereal in nature, gliding more than walking.

The party is led to a hall at the center of the city-- the hall of mirrors. Those who have succeeded in obtaining crystals need to bring them and set them on a table placed before a mirror at the end of the hall, which appears to have a number of empty settings. It's unclear what happened to the mirror previously, but now it's necessary to restore it to garner the favor of the fae.

Once crystals have been delivered, people will be free to explore the quiet city, but it seems most of the city is closing shop while the visitors are around. There is a restaurant that will serve visitors food, though all of the dishes are of the molecular gastronomy variety. Alcoholic drinks seem to come in vapor form and flashes of light if ordered, but seem effective nonetheless. The local general store seems to be willing to sell supplies to weary travelers as well, but that's about it.

...That said the inn doesn't seem particularly keen on allowing visitors in strangely, so you're either going to be sleeping on the iridescent streets or camping just outside the city if you prefer the soft grass and the darkness of night. Just be aware, if you leave, you won't be able to get back into this mysterious city so easily.

MOD NOTES:
• All test drive prompts are open to anyone in the game at any time to create your own logs with, but this post should have top-levels by potential new characters only. Current characters may reply to any threads, but should not top-level comment on this post.
• If your application is accepted, you may accept TDM threads as game canon as long as both players consent. Characters may begin threading as soon as their journal is accepted to the communities.
• If nothing here tickles your fancy, try one of this month's Quests for your TDM prompt.
Note that the third prompt in this TDM will have consequences on the game's progression. After the application round, a poll will be put up to see how many characters who are in the game, both new and old, are able to obtain the crystals from the Brave of Soul and Pure of Heart prompts.
• The first "Arrival" prompts are present on every TDM, but may contain seasonal tweaks for flavor. All other prompts will change monthly.
• Questions about this TDM's content? Comment here! If you have a question about the game at-large, please head over to the FAQ.

*This Everwarm does not count toward your potion collection for those who wish to take up potion brewing. You must obtain Everwarm from the Elphame Trader's to count.

Colette Brunel l Tales of Symphonia

[personal profile] angelolatry 2021-01-01 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: I'm waffling on options in who to app so it might or might not be Colette I go with and possibly not quite this app cycle yet. Also I'm debating in regards to canon point on when to take her from which miiiiight be just before the Tower of Salvation for those familiar (which means. She is basically losing her humanity, including her ability to speak/feel/taste and such. She accounts for this in 'speaking' by 'writing' on her friends hands in canon, but I guess with this game, she could use the phones to text to communicate too!)]

Arrival:

A: [Colette, for her part, is used to falling. She did it all the time in tripping over a lot. It just isn't usually quite so huge a fall to hit the ground from where she stands. Not like this. She flails, attempting to use her pink angelic wings in attempt to have a better landing but still ends up splashing and hitting the water regardless.

As she emerges from the water, she makes some half-hearted attempt to wring out her hair and dress, but doesn't seem to feel the chill from being so damp, really.

She's. Also definitely that one that keeps slipping heading up the path to the cliffs. Because of course she is. Pity the poor Cliff Beast in dealing with this clumsy girl.....]

B:

[Colette has never seen anything resembling the phone before that they are handed once they arrive up the top of the cliffs. So she might seem rather confused and fascinated by it. Poking at it or shaking it in figuring out how to use it. Yes. Shaking. She has no idea about technology for the most part, given Sylvarant was the declining world and less prosperous and advanced in comparison to Tethe'alla.

Or perhaps she might offer her cloak to someone else, given she doesn't feel the cold as part of her Angel transformation and all. Or at least. She might be attempting to wordlessly offer it to people until realizing everyone is getting one that it doesn't seem to be an issue in supplying them all. That's when she'll put hers around her shoulders anyway.

She does at least seem thrilled in greeting the animals. Particularly with her own dog familiar. Petting it and nuzzling into its soft fur, her expression basically akin to pure bliss at getting a dog of her own.]

C:

[Colette tries to get the layout of the inn where they stay and all. And she might.....accidentally end up tripping over....her own feet? And uh. Accidentally leave an impression of herself in the wall as she trips in the bedroom she shares. And yet somehow she barely seems to react at all in regards to it happening. Let alone seem to react in being in pain even if she might actually be bleeding.....?

And for anyone that sees her at the obstacle course? Somehow she is actually. Pretty good about getting through it. Even if she does trip, it seems like a good thing in helping her somehow? There's a reason others claim her clumsiness as blessed or some such, back home.

Or perhaps she is learning her light magic. Which. May or may not be going the smoothest.....]

Snow Games:

A:

[Colette is clumsy so a foot race is probably. Not the best idea. But. Well, she is nothing if not optimistic and determined? In wanting to help somehow? So of course she wants to try. If they get to the snow bunnies she might pause in admiring them in thinking them adorable. Or perhaps she attempts to fly over the puddles with her wings only to......well, be reminded she is still attached to someone else. Who may or may not also be able to fly in flying over the puddle? Oops.....?]

Mirror, Mirror:

A:

[Colette's fears. She has so many. Mostly around failing everyone back home. Everyone expecting her to be able to succeed in her Journey, in saving Sylvarant. Being raised in believing this was acceptable. For them to put this pressure and expectation, this responsibility for a whole world, on one teenage girl. Let alone in knowing if she does fail, she would die.

Her fear that in the end, in knowing she has to give up her heart and memories. Giving up her humanity. Colette, when she heads into the caves for the crystal, freezes up in seeing Sylvarant continue to suffer. The crops dying, food shortages from the lack of mana. All because she failed. She shakes her head, raising her hands to her face as she stumbles in stepping back.]

C:

[For her part, Colette doesn't seem bothered by not having somewhere to sleep. Probably because she doesn't. Not anymore. She seems content enough staying awake in standing in the grassy area outside the city itself, gazing up to the stars. She has her hands behind her back as she gazes up at them, as if searching for familiar constellations. Or perhaps just in admiring them or counting them as a way to pass the time while most everyone else is likely asleep.]

Elsa l Frozen

[personal profile] liberee 2021-01-01 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: Not sure if I will go with Elsa or someone else, and probably next app cycle if I do once I decide. But. I'm figuring to take her from after the Forest of Shadows novel, which leads into the sequel film, in regards to canon point. With elemental magic, and Olaf with her in this but that may or may nor change yet.]

Arrival:

B:

[Elsa is decidedly. Not taking this the best. She at least doesn't seem bothered by the chill regarding being drenched, or seem too concerned on accepting one of the cloaks. Not does she seem to have any idea about the phones but that is hardly her priority right now as she sets to asking around regarding her sister, Anna. Sticking together with her sister, if indeed Anna was around here among the crowds, was obviously the priority first and foremost, along with getting back home. Somehow.

Along with her seeming to consider the...walking snowman? Talking snowman?! with her perfectly normal. The snowman introduces himself as Olaf, accompanying the blonde as Elsa mingles, flittering among the crowd of new arrivals in asking about Anna.]

Olaf. I don't think everyone here is as used to you. To....talking snowmen. Maybe it'll be easier if I do the talking in trying to see if Anna is here. But...I do wonder. About the magic. Back home, I was the only one.....

C:

Magic teachers? People here that could teach me about magic? I suppose it's worth a try....

[Elsa. Still might be somewhat (read as: very) nervous. Given how powerful her magic is back home and what had happened regarding her using it in hurting Anna like that. But....she has to learn? Right? She's by now figured that her abilities here seem different somehow. In at least. When she's been startled, she hasn't just outright frozen whatever was near her, for example. So this might take some adjusting to, as she heads to the training grounds and attempts to learn about her new abilities in controlling the elements.]

Mirror, Mirror:

A:

[A lot of Elsa's life has been about fear. Fear of her powers. Her responsibility as royalty, in failing her people. In failing her kingdom of Arendelle somehow. Whether she made the right decisions as Queen. She had only recently been faced with dealing with all of that back home thanks to the Nattmara she unintentionally set loose in her fears manifesting. So Elsa, while she is evidently nervous and tense, is able to face this.]

No. No. I can do this. I know I can!

[She ignores the illusion and keeps pushing on. Reaching when she finds the crystals, thanking the little light spirit for their help.]

B:

Pure of heart....with a leap of faith. Hm. A leap of faith.....?

[Elsa frowns, glancing ahead at....well. Nothing? Or at least it looks to be nothing underneath. Nothing underfoot. She considers the clue for a moment, wondering at the hint and whether it was as easy as having faith something would catch them if she did step forward. Was it that simple? The way Anna had complete faith in Elsa to catch her all the time as a child when they played and Elsa made snow banks for Anna to jump to. Or was there more to it? How did one know if they had a pure heart?]

Sherry Birkin | Resident Evil 2 Remake

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival A: Kerplunk!

Sherry had just enough time to let out a shriek of surprise before she hit the water, the shock of the impact and the freezing water causing her to black out for several seconds. Long enough that the next thing she knew she was being held above water by a woman forcing her to drink...something? She would have yanked away if she'd had the sense but by then it was over and she felt...warmer?

Of course, she still couldn't swim but details, details. Before she had time to sink she found herself being hauled through the water by an ice turtle and deposited unceremoniously on the beach, sitting there in the sand with her knees pulled up to her chest, looking as bewildered as a soaking wet, freezing, confused twelve year old could. What the heck?

Of course, she hadn't noticed the large, froglike creature hauling itself out of the water nearby just yet...

Arrival B: Caravan!

Once she had most of the...everything...explained to her, and had stopped freaking out about the frog monster hat was following her around, Sherry had made her way to one of the empty carriages. It wasn't that she didn't want to be social, exactly, but after the last few days in a zombie infested nightmare, well...people made her a little jumpy.

She'd found an empty carriage and claimed it as her own, hanging her soaked much-too-big jacket she had been wearing from one of the door handles to dry before putting on the winter cloak. But instead of sitting inside the carriage, she'd left the door open and was seated in the doorway with her feet hanging down towards the ground, letting the heat from inside wash over her as she took the time to fiddle with her smart phone. She knew how to use a computer and this seemed...similar, right? She could figure it out.

Eventually she'd look up, and when she spotted someone looking at the carriages, the kid would offer them a somewhat uncertain smile. "This one has room. Uhm. If you need one."

Arrival C: Training Grounds

After they'd reached the inn and she'd gotten a bath and dried her clothes and felt not dirty and not freezing for the first time in what felt like forever, Sherry had gone exploring. Eventually she'd found the training ground, but with so many other arrivals she hadn't wanted to just...demand attention, so at the moment she was just sitting off to the side, watching some of the people trying to learn their magic. Occasionally she'd glance down at her hands, studying the tips of her fingers as if she was expecting them to suddenly start glowing.

So far, no glowing. But eventually, maybe? Someone should probably drag her over to try and figure out what she could do...

Sled Races

To say Sherry had never been sledding would have been pointless. The list of things she hadn't done in her sheltered life far outweighed the list of things she had. But she had seen them on television, she knew the basic idea. Even if apparently these required magic and a partner. She had the magic part down, kind of, a little bit. She could make it work, at least, which was...something? A partner though, that was going to be a problem.

What would Claire do? Probably be bright and friendly and outgoing, wouldn't she? Not that Sherry was great at any of those, but she could try! So she'd settled into the sled though, and when someone else came by looked up with what she hoped was a friendly smile.

"Do you want to try it? Worst thing that happens is we lose."

Pure of Heart

Was it impure to think you were pure? Sherry stood on the edge of the missing bridge, shifting her weight silently from foot to foot as she looked out over the emptiness. She hadn't really done anything bad...well, ever. Being twelve and having lived a ridiculously sheltered life didn't really lend itself to impurity. Although, did sneaking out of the house during a zombie apocalypse count? Or getting infected with a horrible virus that had almost turned her into a monster?

Maybe it was a metaphorical purity. Hopefully it was a metaphorical purity.

Right. Okay. She balled her hands into fists and then turned to someone else standing nearby, offering them a weak smile. "Hi? Sorry. Okay. I'm going to try this?" She gestured at the emptiness with her gloved hand. "And I'm pretty sure it'll work but if it doesn't can you grab me? Before I fall into the freezing water." She paused. "Again."

Wildcard

Sherry is around, at the inn, in the town, wherever! We can make this work!

[ooc: Prose or brackets are fine, I will match whatever! Her familiar is a hunter from RE games, so a six foot tall frog creature with nasty claws and ugly teeth and it's...around...but feel free to pretend it isn't nearby so as not to have people be scared of it. [ ooc: Still voicetesting this good good boy! Not sure if I'll app him this time round but we'll see. ]

ARRIVAL
The Caravan to Camelot
[ This is a whole lot for one Victorian to handle - even one as used to dealing with the bizarre as Jonathan is. The carriages aren't like any that he's seen and now they've all been given devices he's never seen before and which he hasn't the faintest idea how to use. Even after the explanations they're all given, it's still a lot to process.

Somehow, his device has landed on a link to a moving image of a cat which appears to be playing some kind of very small piano.

It's fascinating. For about 30 seconds. But now he can't seem to get off it.

He turns to his fellow carriage passenger. ]

Excuse me. I am sorry to trouble you but- [ He gestures to the screen. ] Do you know how I can get this to stop?

The Red Spring
[ Every room that Jonathan has checked so far in this inn seems to be fully occupied, by fellow new arrivals and their familiars alike. He's not sure how any prospective roommate will feel about the large griffin that has been accompanying him on and off since his arrival but it would be cruel to try and dismiss the creature when it's being so loyal. And despite the creature's rather intimidating appearance, the company is welcome.

He thinks he's finally found a free room at the end of this particular corridor as the door's been left open but- nope. ]

My apologies, I should have knocked. The door was open so I thought this room was unoccupied.

SNOW GAMES
Snow Chicken
[ This.... Seems like a bad idea. But at the same time he isn't one to shy away from a challenge and the last thing that he wants to do is to possibly offend these yeti creatures by not taking part.

Jonathan turns to whoever he's being partnered with for this strange event. ]

Please, allow me!

[ He kneels down to allow the other person to be able to climb up onto his shoulders.

He's 6'5... so it's probably for the best that he's the one doing the carrying in most cases. Even in the unlikely event that the other person is taller than him, he'll still attempt to do the chivalrous thing and offer to carry them. ]

MIRROR MIRROR
Pure of Heart
[ "The pure of heart will form the bridge with a leap of faith."

A leap of faith is a gamble and one which, in this case, could lead to JoJo's fellow travelers plunging into the rapid flowing waters below. It's not a risk that he wants anyone else to take first and that's why he won't hesitate to take that first step - even without his hamon to aid him. It seems like pure foolhardiness to step over the edge but- that clue... If he's interpreting it correctly, well-

It's a shock at first, finding that instead of falling into the water below he's stood, suspended above it, his feet finding solid light instead cold depths. He still isn't sure what exactly is happening here but- he turns to look back at anyone still stood on at the edge of the drop beside the remnants of the bridge. ]

Take this carefully, I'm not sure if this effect is permanent!

[OOC: Spoilers for Season 2 will be present. Also very much a test at this point]

[A - Arrival]

[He lies on the beach, looking up at the sky. That had been highly unexpected but at the same time, he's definitely been through worse. The water and his beskar armour had probably absorbed most of the impact but what's more disconcerting is that he has found himself on a planet and not an Imperial Warship. He must have blacked out at some point.

Eventually he gets up, looking around and taking stock. Surely someone else must have shown up with him. It's just weird, being on his own again.]

[B - Foot Races]

[How does he gets himself into this situations. Still, if the only way out is through then, that's how this will go, he supposes.

He looks at his partner.]

Ready?

[C - Network]

I don't suppose anyone's seen a kid? He's on the small side with large ears.

He likes to get into places he's not supposed to.

And if he ate anything of yours, I'm sorry.

[Sherry looked up from her hands in surprise, staring at the boy for several seconds before smiling faintly.]

Sorry. Yes. I'm okay. Still trying to understand this magic stuff.

[She raised her hands a bit, her expression sheepish.]

Guess I was expecting them to start glowing.

Arrival, on the beach

[personal profile] cameprepared 2021-01-01 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Claire had been waiting for the drop, hoping that maybe someone she knew would show. Sherry and Chris were at the top of that list, with Leon just beneath, so she was waiting, ready to go vaulting into the ocean if anyone of the newbies had trouble. Her familiar, a huge black dog with sullen coals for eyes, paced alongside her, a bulging pack on his back with towels, blankets, and general other necessities on hand.

So naturally, when a young girl is left on the shoreline by one of the turtles, probably confused and dazed, Claire makes a beeline for her. The dog bounds after her, tongue lolling out happily.

"Sherry!" she yelled out, charging across the rocks and gathering the girl in a huge hug. Lifting her, spinning her, she held onto the soggy child for dear life.

"Oh my god, Sherry, I'm so glad to see you!"

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It was the sound of a dog approaching, more than anything else, that had Sherry scrambling to her feet. She'd seen the dogs wandering around Raccoon the last few days and even though she wasn't there, it wasn't an easy thing to forget.

But she'd barely stood up when someone was shouting her name, and she turned in surprise. "Claire?"

And then she was swept off the ground and into a spin, grabbing at the older girl to keep from falling. She would have laughed if she had any breath in her lungs, instead just smiling as the spinning stopped. Woah>

"Claire!" She echoed, giving her would-be rescuer a hug. "What's going on? Where are we?" A beat. "How come you aren't wet too?"

Why would you say that? Do you know what kind of magic you have?

[While he was only here for a month, there was still a lot he didn't know. What kind of magic required glowing hands??]
littlemissgvirus: (Uh)

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. I haven't figured that out yet. They're awfully busy.

[She nodded towards the people who were helping newcomers. And then her expression narrowed a bit.]

I don't know. I don't know anything about magic, it...people's hands glow in movies?

[Look. She is having a weird week okay?]

[The entire phrase of it only served to make Abbacchio irritable. Pure of heart, yeah okay, and just what the hell was he supposed to do? Abbacchio is as far from pure of heart as he can be in comparison to several others.

So he pondered what he assumed to be a riddle, scowling to himself, and then the guy somehow even taller than Abbacchio has made his way over so far anyway.]

Are you nuts? How do you know it's even gonna work for me!

[A - Sled Races]

[Terra stares at his sled with a considerable amount of consternation. He really should have read the part where magic was involved, and if he had, then he wouldn't have gotten involved with this. If it was the magic he was used to, that would be fine but what he's been saddled with here just makes him, well, he's not thrilled.]

I'm still learning my magic so I don't know how much help I'll be. I can probably steer at least though? If you want to handle anything that comes up.

[B - Leap of Faith]

[Everything in this world feels like a trial.

He stares at the water, his fists gripped tight, trying to drum up the belief in himself. He can believe in others well enough, but his experiences have left him with a lot of confusion as to how much he can trust himself. It's a lot scarier than it probably should be.]

Alright, so, who's going first?

"It's a long story, but yes, it's me!"

Squeezing Sherry gently one more time before finally setting her back down, Claire stoops down to eye level. Grinning, one hand reaching up to wipe away some grime from the girl's cheek, she nods. Some sort of affirmation.

"Right now, we're in a place called Avalon. And it's kind of weird, but I promise I'll explain after we've gotten you dry."

She waves a hand at the dog, and it trots over, giving her the chance to fish around for a towel from it's back. The barghest, it's proper species, looks from Claire to Sherry, tongue flopping around in a friendly way.

"He's mine. He won't hurt you, even if he looks a bit spooky, I promise."

Sherry tried to respond but between the whirlwind of information and the hand wiping her face clean there wasn't really a chance, and then she was suddenly face to face with a dog nearly as tall as she was.

"Hi?" She said to the animal, her expression uncertain. It was a dog, clearly, but not quite like one she'd ever seen before. And dogs were still definitely on her 'avoid' list. But he did seem friendly. If kind of dopey.

After a few seconds she tentatively reached out to try and scratch him on the head.

"He's so big." She managed to say.

He bobbed his head, making a gentle 'whuff' sound before shoving it under her hand so she could get a few good scratches in.

Claire, on the other hand, busied herself with freeing that towel and wrapping it around Sherry. She held it tight, soaking up what she could of the water that probably clung to her doubtless grimy jacket and tried to get more of the wet, exposed skin toweled off too.

"He is. He's a friend. And he'll protect you, just like I will."

His snout turns to start snuffling at Sherry's belly.

"Not a zombie. Just...special. He's from this place. So trust him, okay?"

It doesn't mean you shouldn't ask, I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

[Although, if he were in her shoes, he probably would have done the same thing. But as he looked down at her hands, he gave a small shrug.]

I know they do but maybe you can do healing magic? It seems like glowing hands and magic could be related?

[¯\_(ツ)_/¯]
littlemissgvirus: (Hm.)

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to be a bother.

[Sherry had spent most of her life making sure she wasn't bothering her parents. It was a hard habit to break.]

You think? [She looked down at her hands.] How would I tell? [And then she looked back up at him.] Have you figured your magic out?
littlemissgvirus: (So you're nuts right)

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sherry nodded, gently scratching the dog behind the ears until she had to stop because of Claire toweling her off. It was a little strange to have someone doting over her like that. Her mother had rarely had the time, and her father hadn't ever done it. So it wasn't really something she was used to. But it was sort of nice?

"Okay." She answered with another nod, bringing her hand up once she could to pat the dog on the nose as it nuzzled at her stomach.

"What's his name?"

Mickey Mouse | Mickey Donald Goofy : The Three Musketeers

[personal profile] souris_keteer 2021-01-01 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival - A

[ Once he's on dry land, Mickey is quite anxious - quite understandable, given all that's happened! - but when one of the turtles returns with his hat, he does seem to calm down a little, and graciously thanks the turtle. He gently wrings the water out of said hat before popping it on his head, and begins to walk around, calling out. ]

Pluto! ... Goofy! ... Donald! ... Princess?

[ Obviously, he gets no answer. He sighs, but then straightens up. Well, moping isn't going to solve this mystery! He rolls his shoulders, and heads for the White Cliffs. All the while, he seems oblivious to his familiar...

... It almost looks like a very small fairy, except it wears tattered clothes, the wings are bat-like , and it seems to be having an amusing time holding onto Mickey's tail like a man walking his dog. ]

Arrival - B - AOL

[ Mickey's world is woefully behind when it comes to technology, so a 'smart-phone' makes no sense to him. As such, he has no idea he has turned it on and is sending out a video! ]

What a funny-lookin' mirror... Welp!

[ With that, he begins to pick at his teeth, nodding a bit to his familiar that is now sitting on his hat. ]

Princess could show up any minute now - gotta look good for her, y'know! ... Hey, what's this funny light mean?

Arrival - C - Training Grounds

[ Gosh, who'dve thunk magic was real? But Mickey finds himself a little sheepish watching all these people with special powers and... so far, he doesn't seem to have any. He still has his sword, and decides... well! Until he can find his magic, he may as well train what he's used to! ]

Say, uh! Anyone mind sparring with me? I promise I'm real good!

Snow Games - C

[ Mickey's not 100% sure how he got roped into this, but he's not complaining! He could really use some fun. He glances at his nearby... partner? ]

I think I ought to be the one on top. Can't see us really winning the other way around.

[ He is fully aware he's short. 99% of the people here are taller than he is. ]

Mirror Mirror - A

[ What stands before Mickey is a large cat, who takes one look at Mickey and lets out a harsh belly-laugh. ]

You? A Musketeer? BWAAAAA HA HA HA! You're WAY too small, Mouse! You ain't got what it takes!

[ To an outsider, this seems like a fairly juvenile fear - but to Mickey, being told the one dream he's had since he was a child is impossible hurt like a dagger to the heart. Even now, recalling that moment, Mickey closes his eyes, and his fists shake. ]

... No! I proved myself to you! We all did! I know we did!

Mirror Mirror - B

A leap of faith, huh? ... Gosh, I wish Goofy was here. He was good at this kinda thing.

[ Not the faith part, all three boys had plenty of that. It's the leaping part that worries him - as Mickey is taking the clue quite literally. With a gulp, he begins backing up to ready himself up for the jump, trying to remember how Goofy had done it back at the tower. ]

Ready... steady...

Wildcard

[ Make your own prompt! You are free to fourth-wall him, but expect a lot of confusion from his end. ]

"Doesn't have one."

Claire chuckled, and finally pulls away the towel, ruffling it through her hair a couple of times real quick. Just to make sure that she doesn't get a cold or anything after, presumably, a very...very...bad day.

"We haven't picked one out yet. He hasn't liked any of my suggestions. So...maybe you can help me with that sometime. "

A doggy sneeze followed, but he good-naturedly said nothing.

"I know this might feel overwhelming, and I'm sorry. But, there's something important about my dog. He's a familiar. That means he's magic. Something about this place gives people a bond with a creature, and that means you'll get one too. So before we go, we need to look around and see if there is anything you feel tied to."
littlemissgvirus: (Uh)

[personal profile] littlemissgvirus 2021-01-01 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Sherry giggled softly when the dog sneezed, giving him another little scratch before she let her hand drop back to her side. "I can do that," she agreed, sounding a bit more cheerful than she probably had...well, the entire time Claire had known her. She'd never had to name a dog before!

This was going to be a lot of responsibility.

"A...familiar?" This was definitely a lot. And overwhelming. And probably too much, honestly. But Claire had never lied to her, and she'd fallen into a lake where a magic woman had given her some kind of warming drink then turtles had carried her to shore so. Yeah.

"Uhm." She made a soft sound that wasn't really word as she looked around. Something she felt tied to. What did that even mean, really? But actually there was a sort of...unconscious tug towards the water behind her. Tug wasn't the right word. She didn't know what the right word was.

"Maybe..." She said this mostly to herself as she turned around. "Over there? I think I..." She trailed off, because at that moment, a large, lumbering green monster came crawling out of the water on all fours, claws digging deep into the sand. It let out an shrill, unhappy chirping noise as it pushed up onto it's hind legs and shook the water off it's back.

Oh god.

Arrival
A-
For someone accustomed to the sweltering desert heat, followed by a century of nothingness, the shock to the Gerudo chief's system that was the sudden violent cold of the lake nearly claimed her consciousness. Thankfully, with the help of a turtle and the Lady of the Lake, Urbosa was able to consume the potion and be taken to shore safely. With everything happening so fast, she simply sat at the water's edge for a long moment, staring confused out at the water. Even with the potion, there was a chill in the air that stung as she breathed. That was another thing she had to get used to, the simple fact that she somehow found herself returned to the flesh was jarring in itself.

So consumed with her thoughts that she didn't notice the long serpent-like dragon drifting lazily down until it rested on her shoulder, giving her still wet shoulder a bit of a static shock. When she glanced down at the dragon on her shoulder she only seemed more confused. She could only get one word out in her shock. "...Farosh?" After a good five minutes of just sitting with her thoughts, she finally stood and began the trek up the stairs, a multitude of questions running through her mind.

C-
Upon getting her questions answered, Urbosa had made her way to the training grounds. Never had she been one to simply sit around and rest, especially when the fate of all realities seemed to be on the line. She had quickly identified what kind of magic she had as it was close to what she was used to already, but the indiscriminate lightning barrage of Urbosa's Fury still eluded her, much to her frustration. She was getting the hang of this new form of magic, able to strike at the targets with precision when the spells actually ignited, however the manipulation of energy was so foreign to her that she was taking some getting used to the process rather than simply snapping her fingers.

Mirror Mirror
A-
Urbosa was quick to volunteer for this mission. Any excuse to get out and move her body in this intense cold was welcome to her. Thankfully, she had found a warm outfit that didn't hamper her movement too much. When told the crystal that was required was in the cave, she was the first to volunteer to go in after it. Torch in one hand, Scimitar of the Seven in the other, she led the way. However, once she entered the anti-magic zone, she held her arm to the side, stopping anyone following her from continuing. There, hovering in the air was an eldritch mess of hair, glowing light resembling a shield and hook, and a black tar-like substance.

At first, Urbosa was frozen to the spot, the sight of the creature that had killed her and brought ruin to her home terrified her. However, that feeling was quickly overshadowed by and consumed by fury.

"I don't know how this creature came to be here, but none of you are to lift a finger in felling it." Tightening her grip on her scimitar, she tossed the torch to the side, pulling her shield from where it sat on her hip before pointing her blade at the creature and advancing.

"You caught me off guard the last time we fought, but I will relish tearing you apart this time, fiend!" With a war cry she leapt at the creature, bringing the scimitar to bear on the raised shield only to find no resistance. After cutting through the vision, she glanced back at where the beast had been, only to see the crystal. Taking it in hand, she turned back to those accompanying her and handed it off, sighing. "And to think, I was actually going to savor a chance to slay that thing."

Claire rises immediately when Sherry starts to turn, looking in that direction. Her familiar instinctively moves to the girl's side, pressing himself there to offer support, almost like he can understand what Claire's hoping he'd do.

"Over..."

She trails off as well as her eyes catch sight of the frog creature scrabbling out of the water.

"...Well, that's different."

Not what she expected, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Her hand doesn't stray to her gun yet, but she does watch it, eyes going between Sherry and the creature.

"That's the source, Sherry? What can you feel from it?"
