Emet is a total fixture of Avalon to me! Even though some NPCs are probably frightened of him to this day due to the special sculptures he put up in town last summer he made such great positive impacts, too - the potion he developed that was used during Celliwig's trials, the way he cared for the old man who was loved by many outworlders, his solution to the will'o'wisps' struggle in the marshes... he's a vital person to have around!

I'm happy we got to build such nice CR between our guys, too, from "Why did you use my misassigned powers to make mayonnaise gnomes" to "I'll support your ghost patrol" - and Hijikata even got to see the horrors Emet went through on his homeworld thanks to the sleep paralysis demons, so even though they never talked about that afterwards (both being emotionally constipated as they are) I think he's a bit sensitivised for Emet truly having seen some shit! In short, they know they'll have each other's back, and that's worth a lot on this island.

/)(\ Thank you! It's hard to get Emet involved in anything since he's happier living a boring sort of life, but when he commits to something he ends up caring a LOT. Like how he has a bit of a soft spot (that he'll never admit to) for spirits of the dead. It would be nice if he and Hijikata could bond further - maybe even finally bring up that shared dream - but even if they don't, Emet would be very...very displeased if someone were to hurt Hijikata without good reason.

He promises not to murder in revenge at least.

I'm still very surprised he got the right response for the lanterns but happy for him. He'll never brag about these sorts of things. XD

Aw Emet... ♡ I think he applies himself just fine! He's not constantly meddling in everything that happens, but in the plots he does involve himself in he's always really thoughtful and reliable! Hijikata is such an unrefined person (and the contrast is always hilarious to me), but they share that trait; that's probably part of why they get along so well despite Emet's occasional surface-level exasperation.

I'm all for them having a follow-up conversation about the nightmare at some point! Maybe there'll be some prompt to facilitate that, or else we can make our own. And nobody may know about Emet's solution to the wisps' problem, but the marshes will probably always welcome him above all other foreigners for his help.

Emet is definitely a presence in Avalon. I think at least most of my characters have at least heard of him. I haven't interacted with him much, but it's interesting to see him around and you seem to have nice ideas in mind 💖

Ahh, that makes me happy to hear! I always thought Emet was a sort of background person in the larger scheme of things but it seems that's not the case, haha. Hilariously, that's very much like in canon actually...

I've been taking it easy this month to try and get my sleeping pattern things back in order and it seems to be working so, hopefully there will be reasons to finally interact properly with Emet? \o/
