{ QUICK NAV }

A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. You'll definitely see other new arrivals plopping in. If you can't swim, a red-headed woman known only as the Lady of the Lake will drag you to the shore if she doesn't spot someone else near you helping so no one ends up drowning. She's a little busy casting directive magic to make sure everyone lands safely and playing lifeguard, so if anyone attempts to talk to her, she'll tell them to head up to the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones and a pair of earbuds to everyone before getting them settled in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and give them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing.

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do.. if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

A ⦿ Get Fresh
Upon arrival in Camelot travelers are ushered to a large set of wash rooms where they can clean up and make themselves presentable for the Welcome Feast. They are informed that once the feast concludes there will be an announcement on where they can seek lodging and how to begin their magic studies.

B ⦿ Be Merry
After they freshen up, travelers are led into the main dining hall. The decorations range from simplistic to a little more grandiose, it is likely everyone will find something familiar. A modern mash up with a medieval flair. The jester makes his rounds, perhaps he has a joke or two to tell, go ahead, give him a listen or perhaps volunteer to participate in one of the jester's shows, like knife-throwing or hypnotism. Within the crowd of staff there are mummers, a juggler, here and there dabbled through small troupes perform mini skits, perhaps they’ll perform a well known verse from a traveler’s world or tell a tale of fancy from this realm.

C ⦿ Eat Well
A banquet is prepared with food that while all “rustic” in appearance are usually a version of modern dishes ranging from basic roast chicken and veggies to Korean-Mexican fusion and French patisserie. The drinks are much the same; while served in old fashioned goblets, they are drinks modern travelers will be familiar with.

Have a seat, meet a new neighbor, find a roommate, maybe a new or old friend? Talk to the person to your left, your right, across from you. Mingle, enjoy the food, the music, it shouldn’t be long before the information promised is provided. Till then take your fill and get to know your fellow travelers.

You've been here a few days now and have gotten a chance to settle in, find a place to stay, and Camelot's citizens have decided that you've been here long enough to start living your life again. Well, your new life.

A group of citizens have decided to give everyone their first quest.

"Hear ye, hear ye!" a man in chain mail with a tablet with his statement typed up on it declares to a crowd from atop a pedestal. There are two other citizens around him with phones to post the video to AOL later to make sure the word gets heard ye all around.

"Those with magic, we beseech thee! Findeth us a grail most holy hidden in the depths of the Brocéliande! This holy grail is known to grant thine wishes three, a most noble quest for noble souls! Great reward will come to those who find it and proclaim at least one of their wishes to find the great Excalibur for King Arthur!"

This is the first you've heard about King Arthur, and it seems curious that he hasn't yet shown his face around town. It also seems strange that this guy is speaking like he's stepped out of a bad period piece, and probably should be the clue that this is more or less an attempt to haze some of the newcomers by sending them into the forest... but no one is telling newcomers this. It's better to get them out there and start praciticing, after all.

A ⦿ Lost, and Lost, and Lost Again
The Brocéliande is well-known around Camelot for being a forest that's both bountiful and mysterious. Oddities are known to happen that may never happen again to the point that even if something weird happens and you can't prove it, most citizens will assume you're telling the truth.

Which is what makes it peculiar when you keep passing the exact same locations over and over again, as if you've been traveling in circles or reaching the end of the map in a video game and coming out the other end. You're stuck in a space loop. The only way out is to successfully find the one difference in each loop five times in a row and collect it. Maybe it's a strange frog, a crystal that wasn't there before, a small wooden step that doesn't lead anywhere, or some other singular item, you've got to find what stands out... pick the wrong item, and you'll have to start your five count over again, and again, and again...

B ⦿ Grail, and Grail, and Grail Again!?
If you either missed the space loop or managed to get out of it, eventually you'll come to find one of... quite a few copies of a grail with holes in the side placed throughout the forest. They look like they might be good for draining noodles, but that's about it. Though they're spread out, it's entirely possible you'll find more than one, but each of them are placed in situations where it's impossible to get to by normal means. You'll have to use magic! It may be hidden in a bird's nest at the top of the tallest tree, inside of a hole in a rock with bars that prevent you from reaching in (perhaps an animal friend could reach it), inside a boiling pond, or inside the body of a bear fir... there are a load of possibilities, and now's a chance for you to try out your brand new magics! Use one of those samples, find something from the bestiary, or come up with your own adventure to get your hands on that less-than-holy grail.

C ⦿ A Quest Completeish
Or it would be, if you could ever find the guy who announced it... The AOL posts have since been deleted. You may end up spending a lot of time trying to find the guy. At this point, citizens will start telling you that you shouldn't take quests unless they're on the quest board or else you're going to get scammed... that's definitely an olden times themed noodle strainer. If that doesn't make you give up, or perhaps motivates you to find the guy to kick his ass, you'll have to head out to the farmland and chase them through a cornfield. (Be careful not to get lost, it's a maize in there.) If one of the boys are caught, they'll explain they were just testing you-- and hey, you got a free addition to your kitchen! If pressed, they'll apologize and give you a bit of money for your trouble. It's not much, but it'll get you at least a meal.

Oh no, this is too much! Misumi has to double over with his giggles for a moment to try and catch his breath. It's a difficult thing.

"Aaaaah! Stop, stop, you'll leave me winded!"

He can try his hand at this too okay?

"That doesn't look like a chain..." He says quietly, expression doubtful, but then... maybe there's a language barrier. "I didn't sign any contracts. I was just shopping, and then ended up out there." He points to the lake again.

It doesn't sound like rambling. It sounds like they are having a hard time understanding each other.

"He is a chain! They can all look different. You make contracts with them but only Baskervilles are supposed to! Otherwise people make contracts and they are dragged into the abyss when the clock times out." A little rambling as she got closer to the water and started to splash at it curious to see what the creature was. All the while Bandersnatch kept an eye on Gokudera.

"They can have lots of different powers."
bakudan_bambino: (aggravated)

[personal profile] bakudan_bambino 2020-11-14 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"What... I don't understand." Gokudera says and stares at the strange creature that's staring at him.

"What's a baskerville?" He looks the girl over and steps towards her cautiously.

"It looked dangerous. I wouldn't try to draw it closer." Except he would, because he wants to see it again.

She just didn't explain things well most times. Still she shook her head, the red tattoo on her face more visible.

"I'm a Baskerville! My name's Lily!" As she smiled brightly she went a little more into the water. "I'll be okay, I can't die!"

[Well, he could certainly respect that. The man did look very fit and intimidating in size (had he not played basketball maybe it would be impressive) and kind of the outdoorsy type as well.

It was good that they didn't forget him at least, even if he was wearing camo. Nigou barked again, happily panting with his husky smile. That was...definitely something he understood. He should've asked Amon more about this while he'd stuck around.]

Ah, Nigou says he likes you because you smell like the ground. I'm glad they haven't forgotten you, though. It is not a pleasant feeling.

[He'd agree about the cardio but he was starting to run out of oxygen.]

[ Taken aback at the sight of a blonde girl seemingly his age storming through the town, Makoto calmly approaches her to attempt to ask what happened, suspecting she's been scammed by the same guy as countless others. ]

H-hey...! Miss! Please calm down ... that guy tried to con me too, but that's no reason to go on a rampage. Maybe you'd be better off warning others who haven't been approached by him or something, but this is just gonna attract too much attention...

Kuroko did at least have enough faith in Midorima to not let his heart entirely sink as the guy just walked away from him. He was rewarded with his effort when he brought back a stick, a solution that was probably a better idea.

Seemingly unphased by the brusque attitude, Kuroko held the rat up to the branch, whispering a couple words before it scrambled on. "Thank you Midorima-kun; I hope the grail will count for us both but I'm more than willing to assist you in any way in return."

He started gingerly stepping over to where the river is, pointing to the vine a couple feet above his own head. In the meantime, he was observing Midorima. He knew his former teammate didn't always adapt to sudden changes very easily and he didn't know if Oha Asa was a thing he could access anymore.

And did he seem...older?
chriego: (13)

lol holy hell I needed my wife's help for this one...

Whew, okay, Misumi. Just treat it like a skit! He manages to get his giggles under control and even looks smug as he delivers his next pun.

"I gust you'd be right about that. Buuuut~ I think we're just blowing hot air at this point~"
donovan_deegan: (Smug jerk)

You're... welcome?

[ Bless Makoto for trying, but attempting to calm down Saber in a state like this without knowing exactly what would calm her down... is the same as facing down a hungry lion with just your bare hands.

...what? She's a knight! She will not stand for this act against chivalry. ]

I think not! As a knight, I cannot stand for this! I will find the cretin myself and teach him what it means to cross me!

[ The armor and sword are, in fact, real. She could probably intimidate the culprit pretty well, even without all of the abilities she lost when she landed here. ]

That's so many! Misumi is in awe!

And he actually looks uncertain for a moment, wracking his brain, trying to figure out what to respond to that with. But it's only for a moment before he lets out a laugh and his bubbly demeanor returns to him.

"Ahaha! I give, I give! I haven't practiced puns enough!"

Something he'll have to correct at some point.

The scream almost startled Kuroko more than the goose attacking, haven't hearing that sound out of the blonde for a good while since middle school. Kise's reactions activated his fight and flight instinct enough that he grabbed the back of Kise's shirt, desperately pulling them away as the goose attacked the shield. "Kise-kun, we need to run now!!"

Nigou was helping the situation by barking, a lot. But the time for standing off was past; they needed to either get to higher ground or to a crowd of people STAT.
dvine: (7)

[personal profile] dvine 2020-11-14 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Kise's heart is stuck in his throat from both fright and scream as he stares at the sparkly shield he summoned and the goose that's flapping its wings and stabbing with its beak against it to break it down.

He doesn't resist the pull and Kuroko's call to run- he turns around, grabs Kuroko for his forearm, and makes a mad dash through the people, constantly looking over his shoulder to make sure the shield is still up.

...this magic stuff is useful.

"Let's get inside!"

[1] The Caravan to Camelot

[ Needless to say, Makoto feels like he's back on the train to Iwatodai, that first night everything changed for him... Finding his music player no longer seems to function due to him having had to pull himself out of the water, he fidgets with the phone he's been given to occupy himself. ]

This place is weird... but it just kinda feels like I'm on vacation somewhere...

[ He doesn't say that to anyone in particular, just mumbles to himself. But perhaps you are sitting near him and overhear... ]

[2] Eat Well

[ Makoto is more focused on just trying to sit alone as to not be intrusive, but unfortunately in being so focused on that he inadvertently bumps into you... and spills water onto you. He panics, nearly dropping his tray. ]

Shit..!! Uh... I'll get a napkin, sorry...

𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕧𝕒𝕟 𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕖𝕣𝕤
[ A pretty young girl with pink hair in a rose-like updo has been flitting in and out of the groups of other travelers, half-nervous yet half-bubbly. She's looking surprisingly fresh in her ruffled burgundy tunic over an even rufflier poofy black skirt, wearing a cream-colored scarf speckled with little black pompoms, with matching leggings to boot... but as to boots, instead of some cute little heels, this tiny creampuff of a girl is bouncing around between crowds in black combat boots, acid-washed grey jean jacket keeping her cozy after her very soggy arrival... She'd managed to convince someone to use their magic to re-puff her petticoats, thankfully, because that was a priority. Spirited away, but still stylish. She's clearly searching for something, ducking to peek below people for a better ground-view... Occasionally, a small leaping silvery wisp of white may lace itself between your legs, but its seeker is not as quick. It doesn't help she's easily distracted by all the cool-looking people in foreign styles. Maybe as she passes by you, she offers an enthusiastic compliment on your outfit — so many different looking people, she'd wear herself down tapping strangers on the shoulder to say "I like your shoes," "I like your hair," "I like your this, I like your that..." She's bound to find something to compliment in your outfit. But she's hoping she's bound to find this elusive quick little white scoundrel, whatever it is.

When her search is clearly coming to no avail, she does get worn down (maybe for the best?), and after taking a moment to pet and thank the hard-working horses, she's pretty relieved to relax in the caravan. It's all enough to make her head spin, so once their welcoming explanation sinks in some, she figures it's better if maybe her head does spin a little. That mini-bar is a nice touch, and she dives in to find the flavored vodka, rum, something fruity right away, and plops three in her ruffly lap. She turns to whoever may be beside her, smiling and warm. ]

Would you like some, too?

[ But rather than offer one of the three in her lap, she reaches back into the mini-bar to produce a fourth for you... She's keeping those three. ]

𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕪𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕟𝕟
[ Maybe you're the lucky ducky who's found themselves sharing the room in the inn together. She's already claimed her bed, but she's clung to the video games pretty fast. She's found a simple rhythm game, some groovy dance music filling the room as she hits all the marks mostly on time with the notes. A natural. If you walk in while she's in the zone, you'll be greeted with a bright smile — but then she scrambles her focus back to the game seconds later, not wanting the distraction to make her fail the current song. She does anyway, though, and huffs childishly at the controller as she sets it back down and stands to introduce herself proper, bowing a bit. ]

Boo, I lost... Sorry, sorry. Hi, hello! We're roommates, right? It's nice to meet you, my name is Sakurada Miwako. And yours~?

𝕞𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘
[ The next morning after a restful night at the inn, much needed, she's in even more need of help with magic... She comes from a completely normal world. No magic. No powers. No spooky creatures. No heroes. No aliens. Well, not counting the famous hair stylist/makeup artist/professional genius Seiji-sama, but it's really just her theory that he's from the Glitter Planet, which in any case is obviously not... this planet. It would be better if so, she thinks. Glitter magic, what a thought~ She's kind of put out watching others practicing their magic in the training grounds, though, feeling still exceedingly normal. Nothing feels very different; in fact she quietly feels rather unexceptional — just like at home, if not even more so... She's pouting by herself off on the sidelines, huffing occasionally, resigned to observing the others after many failed attempts at what she's seen going on around her. Screaming "FIRE POWER, GO~!" didn't work the way she'd hoped it would. Her familiar has been no help, either; free from the crowds, a small white rabbit has been bounding about all morning, its fur softly glowing silver, crystal-like jade-colored eyes always seeking Miwako from across the training field, but it doesn't come to her. Just watches from afar. Is her rabbit even magic? Something doesn't seem fair... After too much ruminating on this, she turns frustrated to whoever's nearest. ]

Do you know what your special power is yet? I can't tell mine yet... What if I don't have one?

[ A sudden shocking realization hits, though, which she clearly takes very seriously as she lopes this poor stranger into her thought process. ]

...Oh, no! Do you think I could be cursed?!

[ He flinches slightly, but manages to retain his composure otherwise. ]

I mean I would too, but everyone else who got conned by that guy can't seem to find him. Plus like... he's just a run of the mill scam artist. If you wanna track him down more power to you, but if you find him you'd be better off reporting him to the authorities... whoever they are here, I'm still not sure yet. Point I'm making is I wanna throw hands with him as much as you do, but it won't really change much cause scammers are a dime a dozen.

... I could probably help you find the guy, if you wanna start by asking other people if they could recall any identifying details about him.

[ Seems like nothing really fazes Makoto, does it? At least he's not totally against Saber laying a beating on this guy, just says it's not a great idea. ]

She's a cute girl with a face tattoo! So what?! Who let her get a fucking face tattoo?

"What is a Baskerville? You look like a girl. JUST a girl." With a weird animal companion or whatever.

"That doesn't mean it won't try to hurt you!" Gokudera exclaims and moves to grab her arm to try and tug her out of the water (although not in a violent or hard manner, because that weird dog that she has with her looks like it could bite him badly if it wanted to).

Indeed, you are correct. It would be wise to report them to the authorities. However I still intend to make sure they know not to cross the King of Knights again.
