A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. You'll definitely see other new arrivals plopping in. If you can't swim, a red-headed woman known only as the Lady of the Lake will drag you to the shore if she doesn't spot someone else near you helping so no one ends up drowning. She's a little busy casting directive magic to make sure everyone lands safely and playing lifeguard, so if anyone attempts to talk to her, she'll tell them to head up to the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones and a pair of earbuds to everyone before getting them settled in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and give them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing.

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do.. if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

A ⦿ Get Fresh
Upon arrival in Camelot travelers are ushered to a large set of wash rooms where they can clean up and make themselves presentable for the Welcome Feast. They are informed that once the feast concludes there will be an announcement on where they can seek lodging and how to begin their magic studies.

B ⦿ Be Merry
After they freshen up, travelers are led into the main dining hall. The decorations range from simplistic to a little more grandiose, it is likely everyone will find something familiar. A modern mash up with a medieval flair. The jester makes his rounds, perhaps he has a joke or two to tell, go ahead, give him a listen or perhaps volunteer to participate in one of the jester's shows, like knife-throwing or hypnotism. Within the crowd of staff there are mummers, a juggler, here and there dabbled through small troupes perform mini skits, perhaps they’ll perform a well known verse from a traveler’s world or tell a tale of fancy from this realm.

C ⦿ Eat Well
A banquet is prepared with food that while all “rustic” in appearance are usually a version of modern dishes ranging from basic roast chicken and veggies to Korean-Mexican fusion and French patisserie. The drinks are much the same; while served in old fashioned goblets, they are drinks modern travelers will be familiar with.

Have a seat, meet a new neighbor, find a roommate, maybe a new or old friend? Talk to the person to your left, your right, across from you. Mingle, enjoy the food, the music, it shouldn’t be long before the information promised is provided. Till then take your fill and get to know your fellow travelers.

You've been here a few days now and have gotten a chance to settle in, find a place to stay, and Camelot's citizens have decided that you've been here long enough to start living your life again. Well, your new life.

A group of citizens have decided to give everyone their first quest.

"Hear ye, hear ye!" a man in chain mail with a tablet with his statement typed up on it declares to a crowd from atop a pedestal. There are two other citizens around him with phones to post the video to AOL later to make sure the word gets heard ye all around.

"Those with magic, we beseech thee! Findeth us a grail most holy hidden in the depths of the Brocéliande! This holy grail is known to grant thine wishes three, a most noble quest for noble souls! Great reward will come to those who find it and proclaim at least one of their wishes to find the great Excalibur for King Arthur!"

This is the first you've heard about King Arthur, and it seems curious that he hasn't yet shown his face around town. It also seems strange that this guy is speaking like he's stepped out of a bad period piece, and probably should be the clue that this is more or less an attempt to haze some of the newcomers by sending them into the forest... but no one is telling newcomers this. It's better to get them out there and start praciticing, after all.

A ⦿ Lost, and Lost, and Lost Again
The Brocéliande is well-known around Camelot for being a forest that's both bountiful and mysterious. Oddities are known to happen that may never happen again to the point that even if something weird happens and you can't prove it, most citizens will assume you're telling the truth.

Which is what makes it peculiar when you keep passing the exact same locations over and over again, as if you've been traveling in circles or reaching the end of the map in a video game and coming out the other end. You're stuck in a space loop. The only way out is to successfully find the one difference in each loop five times in a row and collect it. Maybe it's a strange frog, a crystal that wasn't there before, a small wooden step that doesn't lead anywhere, or some other singular item, you've got to find what stands out... pick the wrong item, and you'll have to start your five count over again, and again, and again...

B ⦿ Grail, and Grail, and Grail Again!?
If you either missed the space loop or managed to get out of it, eventually you'll come to find one of... quite a few copies of a grail with holes in the side placed throughout the forest. They look like they might be good for draining noodles, but that's about it. Though they're spread out, it's entirely possible you'll find more than one, but each of them are placed in situations where it's impossible to get to by normal means. You'll have to use magic! It may be hidden in a bird's nest at the top of the tallest tree, inside of a hole in a rock with bars that prevent you from reaching in (perhaps an animal friend could reach it), inside a boiling pond, or inside the body of a bear fir... there are a load of possibilities, and now's a chance for you to try out your brand new magics! Use one of those samples, find something from the bestiary, or come up with your own adventure to get your hands on that less-than-holy grail.

C ⦿ A Quest Completeish
Or it would be, if you could ever find the guy who announced it... The AOL posts have since been deleted. You may end up spending a lot of time trying to find the guy. At this point, citizens will start telling you that you shouldn't take quests unless they're on the quest board or else you're going to get scammed... that's definitely an olden times themed noodle strainer. If that doesn't make you give up, or perhaps motivates you to find the guy to kick his ass, you'll have to head out to the farmland and chase them through a cornfield. (Be careful not to get lost, it's a maize in there.) If one of the boys are caught, they'll explain they were just testing you-- and hey, you got a free addition to your kitchen! If pressed, they'll apologize and give you a bit of money for your trouble. It's not much, but it'll get you at least a meal.

[ If it had been anyone other than Kise, Midorima would've made much more of a fuss about a knee on his hand. As it stands, he doesn't even know if this is his Kise or not yet, so he doesn't know exactly how to react to it, and instead just gives him a firm look and a scolding. Regardless, it's still Kise, and Kise is scoldable. ]

If you had been doing what you're supposed to you wouldn't need to be manhandled by that woman.

[ He doesn't know who she is. (Or.. what.)

Also please ignore the tanuki with a hat and a blanket in its lap sitting on the seat across from Midorima. ]

Surprise, it's Midorima who turns around with a little jump. It's just Kuroko so he sighs. He's heard some people might have invisibility, so he wasn't certain, but he supposes he should just always suspect it's Kuroko when someone suddenly appears behind him on any planet.

Midorima himself is out here looking for the same thing, of course, because a grail that grants wishes sounds like it could grant him luck, and that's something he needs desperately, right now and forever.

It doesn't make his greeting to Kuroko any less snippy.

"What?"

Seriously?

[Nero sits up, squinting at the stranger as she enters. He doesn't like to be accused of something when he's not even acting threatening, but as she lowers her scarf and he notices her cheek, he starts to get the idea. Trust issues, okay.]

Sleep with your familiar around if you're that worried, but I'm not gonna hurt you. [Then he looks to his sword, propped up against the wall, and grins.] Oh, that's Red Queen. She's a sword, obviously. Just with lots of customisations.

Riou is seated on the beach, ringing out his camo overshirt to try to rid it of some of the water when Xayah approaches. His boots are off, having been removed to dump some of the water out of them. There is something that looks like bat crossed with a flying squirrel crossed with a vampire tucked into one of the boots, but as it's largely nocturnal, it's on its way to a nap. It's rude that people are getting dropped in during the daytime when not all familiars are daytime familiars.

As for Riou, he's decidedly on edge right now, which means he's not going to be reacting as calmly as he might normally in a non-combative situation.

"We appear to have been abducted to an unknown location. The current area appears secure. I suggest recouping before proceeding to the suggested location."

The suggested location he got from the Lady of the Lake, anyway, since the Nobusuma in his boot is cranky and said he'll fill him in later. He hasn't decided if he wants to attempt to eat him or not yet, as he seems capable of communication and seems to know what's going on.

To say that her feathers were ruffled would be an understatement. She's dry from "let's dump you in the water without warning" escapade, but still looks disheveled- rumpled clothes and messy, tangled hair. Her little familiar is sitting perched on her shoulder and cheeps in greeting as she scans the carriage she just stepped in. Then her eyes fall on the bottle and she grabs it, inspecting it.

"You shouldn't just drink whatever's here. What if it's poisoned?" Silly, carefree humans.

The way he speaks makes her pause in her rage and irritation, letting her actually process the information she's getting from him. Her little bird is pulling at her hair, as if aware of her easily flaring temper, but she pays no attention to the bird.

Her eyes look up from him and around the beach(?), at other people helping each other out of water and complaining. Now she just looks extremely ruffled with annoyance and, while it isn't fair she's taking it out on the guy in front of her- he's the closest! She doesn't look as intimidating as she wants to be- not while soaked like this.

"Secure in what way? Secure that we can't get out? Or secure that nothing else comes at us?"

Because people keep falling into that lake, there are loud splashes, and that doesn't look too secure to her.

Kyoko Mogami | Skip Beat | Spoilers CW: um.... yeah.

[personal profile] souls_of_roles 2020-11-02 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
(OOC note: some of the weird things around Kyoko will be Light Magic, since that is too perfect hilarious for her, but some is just her imagination running away with her. Feel free to ask OOC, or to just react as if your character either is or is not experiencing the oddness as you please!)

Arrival - A

The girl pulling herself out of the water was wearing a jumpsuit that has ben described as "a curse that once you see you can never unsee". It wasn't that it was ugly. It wasn't. She'd even put on her salesgirl face and tell you that it was stylish. No the problem was the colour. It was not simply pink. It was so bright a pink it was actively painful to look at. Catching a glance out of the corner of your eye could feel like it was blinding you. The white shirt she wore under it only served to make it seem brighter.

She ran a hand through her short hair, a small dark spirit floated around her head laughing and cackling evilly. She had no clue that this was her familiar, or that anyone else could see it this time. Her confusion wasn't that it was there, though, more... that it was there then. There was no one here that she was angry with, and no one near her seemed to be radiating hate...

She shook her head. She'd think about it later. First she had to figure out where she was and how to get back to LME. she patted her pockets for her cellphone to start drying it out. But... no phone. Panicked she found something that got her to stop looking. A tiny change purse. The sort that probably couldn't hold more than a buck or two in dimes. She opened it and spilled a blueish purple into her palm then held it up to the light, relieved. "Good, not a scratch!" she said. She put the stone back away in its pouch, then the pouch in her pocket. "Alright. If Corn is with me, I'm safe from any evil!" And with that she was ready to figure out where she was...

Arrival - B

Magic? Actual magic? Fae? Camalot. She might have stopped listening after a bit, her eyes huge and all but sparkling. She might also be dancing in giddy circles or dancing around, holding cheerful conversations with no one like a 3 year old playing make believe. Actual real magic! She was going to get magic!

Yes, you did just hear a teenager squeal in utter delight. As she danced in a circle with her arms spread wide. In a jumpsuit so pink it hurt to look at it.

Kyoko Mogami was off in lala land again. Dare you interrupt her?

Feast - Eat well The plate she set down at her place before she sat was modest, the choices seemed at best... plain. Nothing adventurous. At least, not by her standards. A scoop of white rice with some nori. A few pieces of sushi. Chicken breast. She would have loved Japanese hamburger steak, but hadn't found any. But she wasn't one to complain. Not about that.

She clapped her hands. "Itadakimasu," she said with her eyes closed. Then she opened them and seperated her chopsticks so that she could start eating.

[He didn't pay attention! There were dots dancing in front of his eyes from how much his nose is hurting. All he wanted was just to get up and sit wherever and just be done and over with this.

But the voice is way, WAY too familiar and, despite the fact that it is scolding him, it's comforting.]

Midorimacchi! You're here! [Not knowing whether this is Midorima (...his Midorima) is the only thing stopping him from fully jumping at him and hugging him.

The lady joins them and sits on the opposite sides, ignoring both of them, and from what appears that her dress and hair would cover the tanuki sitting there it just doesn't happen, as if those parts just disappear and leave behind wispy trails of air.]

Caravan to Camelot

Of the new arrivals, one seemed to stick out more than others. Dressed head to toe in black with pale skin, the only real splash of color that seemed to mark him as real was the purple scarf wrapped around his neck and pulled up to hide his chin. As Archimedes distributed the phones and earbuds, it was clear he wasn't paying much attention. He'd quickly stashed the items in his coat as he wandered up to the carriages and began inspecting the horses.

While they initially acted with surprise with the new person in their space, they quickly calmed down as the young man mumbled to himself as he stroked the horses with the same kind of affection one would a treasured pet. Initially, he resisted the call to board the carriages but was finally persuaded into one. He spent the majority of the trip simply staring out a window, occasionally pulling what appeared to be a sunflower seed from a pocket and inserting it into his scarf without a word.

Be Merry

During the feast, Gundham remained his usual standoffish self. The point in time he'd been pulled from had left him with a considerable amount to think about, and contemplating his place in this new reality wasn't helping much either. Of course, it was then that he heard a tale that was hitting a bit too close to home. A bard had begun a song, one he had heard many times before. A song performed by his classmate before they had originally met. True, he was used to hearing it with more yelling and percussion but there was no denying the influence of the 'Ultimate Musician' on the piece. About half way through the song, Gundham took his plate and excused himself to a balcony. Any keen eyed party goer would notice that his free hand was clenched in a fist hard enough to draw blood.

Grail, and Grail, and Grail Again!?

When Gundham had first heard of this particular quest, the reward from this supposed King Arthur was quite literally the last thing on his mind. The wishes that were supposed to be granted, well, he could think of more than three. The forest had proved formidable at first, especially as lost in thought he had been, but thanks to the help of his hamsters, finding each oddity and retrieving them had become trivial once he realized they were there. When he came across the 'grail', it was all he could do to keep from striking the nearest tree in frustration. Not only was it beyond his reach but it looked far from intact. "No... not again. Not this time... this time I forge my own future..." he muttered to himself as he raised his hand to his scarf.

The grail was in a hole with bars preventing anyone from reaching in, though a series of small tunnels seemed to connect to it. As he raised his hand to his scarf, a hamster poked its head out, and climbed onto his hand obediently. "Maga-Z, the very world seems to be conspiring against us, show this forest what we think of its machinations and retrieve that grail!"

He knelt to the ground, lowering the hamster to the forest floor as it quickly dove beneath the leaves and brush surrounding the area. Roughly two minutes later, its head poked out of a hole behind the bars and with a click as a switch was triggered, the bars retreated. The hamster let out what could only be described as a victory squeak as Gundham reached into the hole and it scurried up his arm. "You have done well, my Dark Deva. Rest, for now it is my turn... to find out who set this bait, and how to rectify this situation."

'Grail' in hand, Gundham turned to leave, a fire in his eyes that would not bode well for those that got in his way.

The man sitting next to where Minato sought to sit was an odd one. His plate consisted of a what appeared to be half a pumpkin pie next to what looked like feed for something... not human. Various seeds - fried pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and other assorted seeds - filled the plate as he casually ate the pie.

"I will not stop you," he replied before a small smirk curled his lips. "Though I will commend you for being the one mortal at this table to have the fortitude to approach me so brazenly."

As he spoke, he reached to the pile of seeds, plucking four pumpkin seeds from the pile and inserting them into his scarf as if it were the most natural thing to do.

[Gundham was wandering the banquet alone, having commanded his familiar to wait in a dark corner of the hall. He had nearly bumped into Cressida when she spoke. It was only then that he realized how odd his plate must have looked.]

A leg of lamb, pumpkin pie, and assorted seeds.

[That's when Gundham noticed the griffin perched on Cressida's shoulder. He'd never seen anything like it and was instantly curious. Without thinking, he plucked a sunflower seed from the pile and held it out to the griffin, curious if it would be more interested in the seed or the meat.]

[It's a good thing she's used to existing in places that lean towards accommodating larger mammals, because if Haru were less worldly of a rabbit she'd be pretty frustrated at how hard-to-reach everything is for someone as small as her.

She's already seated at a pretty empty place setting, her own plate piled high with large servings of whatever delicious veggie dishes were available, having traversed back only to get a bowl of vegetable soup as an appetizer. She's blowing on her spoon when Juno approaches, ear twitching slightly to convey her surprise at seeing the familiar female wolf.

But...Louis is here, so it all makes sense...

You sure you want to sit with me? [She peers up at Juno with scrutiny, and then over towards her smaller companion. Haru's own familiar is also in attendance but it's less noticeable and less hungry, sitting on her head and looking more like a stray ball of fluff that's stuck in her fur.

It sounded like Harry also made it out alright, despite the losses. “For what it’s worth, you have my condolences for those who didn’t make it. It’s not easy but it sounds like you guys will be able to move forward now.”

Minato could relate easily enough. He lost his parents, they all lost Shinjiro, and, eventually, they would lose Minato. This world may have healed him, somehow, but it was likely not permanent for whenever he was able to go back. There was no undoing that spell.

Kuro rested his head on Minato’s knee. His bonded had accepted death a long time ago, it seemed. How terrible but sometimes life wasn’t fair. They both knew it.

Cor is also trying to get some water out of his equipment as well, though in his case it's his blade's sheath. Hearing that desperate plea, though, makes him stand a little taller. He knows that voice so well by now...

And he's got a well of feelings upon seeing that blonde guy standing there, being all horrified over his camera being soaked. Relief to see him again, and happiness that it's someone familiar and trustworthy. But also a growing concern at the lack of the others around. Why is he not with Noctis and the other retinue members...?

Someone else seems to want that question as well. A coeurl the size of a large dog quietly pads over to the chocobo chick to give it a few sniffs. "Mmrr?" She inquires to her fellow familar, and her blonde human as well, as her whiskers twitch curiously.
