{ QUICK NAV }

A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. You'll definitely see other new arrivals plopping in. If you can't swim, a red-headed woman known only as the Lady of the Lake will drag you to the shore if she doesn't spot someone else near you helping so no one ends up drowning. She's a little busy casting directive magic to make sure everyone lands safely and playing lifeguard, so if anyone attempts to talk to her, she'll tell them to head up to the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones and a pair of earbuds to everyone before getting them settled in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and give them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing.

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do.. if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

A ⦿ Get Fresh
Upon arrival in Camelot travelers are ushered to a large set of wash rooms where they can clean up and make themselves presentable for the Welcome Feast. They are informed that once the feast concludes there will be an announcement on where they can seek lodging and how to begin their magic studies.

B ⦿ Be Merry
After they freshen up, travelers are led into the main dining hall. The decorations range from simplistic to a little more grandiose, it is likely everyone will find something familiar. A modern mash up with a medieval flair. The jester makes his rounds, perhaps he has a joke or two to tell, go ahead, give him a listen or perhaps volunteer to participate in one of the jester's shows, like knife-throwing or hypnotism. Within the crowd of staff there are mummers, a juggler, here and there dabbled through small troupes perform mini skits, perhaps they’ll perform a well known verse from a traveler’s world or tell a tale of fancy from this realm.

C ⦿ Eat Well
A banquet is prepared with food that while all “rustic” in appearance are usually a version of modern dishes ranging from basic roast chicken and veggies to Korean-Mexican fusion and French patisserie. The drinks are much the same; while served in old fashioned goblets, they are drinks modern travelers will be familiar with.

Have a seat, meet a new neighbor, find a roommate, maybe a new or old friend? Talk to the person to your left, your right, across from you. Mingle, enjoy the food, the music, it shouldn’t be long before the information promised is provided. Till then take your fill and get to know your fellow travelers.

You've been here a few days now and have gotten a chance to settle in, find a place to stay, and Camelot's citizens have decided that you've been here long enough to start living your life again. Well, your new life.

A group of citizens have decided to give everyone their first quest.

"Hear ye, hear ye!" a man in chain mail with a tablet with his statement typed up on it declares to a crowd from atop a pedestal. There are two other citizens around him with phones to post the video to AOL later to make sure the word gets heard ye all around.

"Those with magic, we beseech thee! Findeth us a grail most holy hidden in the depths of the Brocéliande! This holy grail is known to grant thine wishes three, a most noble quest for noble souls! Great reward will come to those who find it and proclaim at least one of their wishes to find the great Excalibur for King Arthur!"

This is the first you've heard about King Arthur, and it seems curious that he hasn't yet shown his face around town. It also seems strange that this guy is speaking like he's stepped out of a bad period piece, and probably should be the clue that this is more or less an attempt to haze some of the newcomers by sending them into the forest... but no one is telling newcomers this. It's better to get them out there and start praciticing, after all.

A ⦿ Lost, and Lost, and Lost Again
The Brocéliande is well-known around Camelot for being a forest that's both bountiful and mysterious. Oddities are known to happen that may never happen again to the point that even if something weird happens and you can't prove it, most citizens will assume you're telling the truth.

Which is what makes it peculiar when you keep passing the exact same locations over and over again, as if you've been traveling in circles or reaching the end of the map in a video game and coming out the other end. You're stuck in a space loop. The only way out is to successfully find the one difference in each loop five times in a row and collect it. Maybe it's a strange frog, a crystal that wasn't there before, a small wooden step that doesn't lead anywhere, or some other singular item, you've got to find what stands out... pick the wrong item, and you'll have to start your five count over again, and again, and again...

B ⦿ Grail, and Grail, and Grail Again!?
If you either missed the space loop or managed to get out of it, eventually you'll come to find one of... quite a few copies of a grail with holes in the side placed throughout the forest. They look like they might be good for draining noodles, but that's about it. Though they're spread out, it's entirely possible you'll find more than one, but each of them are placed in situations where it's impossible to get to by normal means. You'll have to use magic! It may be hidden in a bird's nest at the top of the tallest tree, inside of a hole in a rock with bars that prevent you from reaching in (perhaps an animal friend could reach it), inside a boiling pond, or inside the body of a bear fir... there are a load of possibilities, and now's a chance for you to try out your brand new magics! Use one of those samples, find something from the bestiary, or come up with your own adventure to get your hands on that less-than-holy grail.

C ⦿ A Quest Completeish
Or it would be, if you could ever find the guy who announced it... The AOL posts have since been deleted. You may end up spending a lot of time trying to find the guy. At this point, citizens will start telling you that you shouldn't take quests unless they're on the quest board or else you're going to get scammed... that's definitely an olden times themed noodle strainer. If that doesn't make you give up, or perhaps motivates you to find the guy to kick his ass, you'll have to head out to the farmland and chase them through a cornfield. (Be careful not to get lost, it's a maize in there.) If one of the boys are caught, they'll explain they were just testing you-- and hey, you got a free addition to your kitchen! If pressed, they'll apologize and give you a bit of money for your trouble. It's not much, but it'll get you at least a meal.

noctis lucis caelum | ffxv

[personal profile] cess 2020-11-01 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
( arrival )

One moment he's talking to Bahamut in - the Keep? In the Crystal, he supposes - the next he's swallowing water and having to kick upwards, limbs suddenly chilled to the bone. He surfaces with a tiny little body he doesn't pay much attention to splashing next to him, and it's only once the woman directs him to shore that he really begins to pay attention.

He's almost out when there's a little yip, and he turns to see Carbuncle, a creature the size of a small dog with large ears, a long tail, and a red horn, in the water. He quickly darts back in to pick up the little creature, which is already shivering a bit.

"What are you doing here?" He asks it reflexively, but the Messenger looks at him curiously; when he doesn't hear the familiar voice, he realizes this isn't his Carbuncle. Still, he keeps the creature close to his chest as he makes it to shore, staring confusedly around.

There's dozens of other people around, each with a companion, and none of them look familiar. Some of them don't even look like they're from Eos, and he's frightened, a moment later, to realize the heavy weight of the Ring, and the Crystal, and the armiger - all of it is gone. The Ring is still on his finger but there's no magic in it; he can't summon any of his items. He's powerless.

"Hey! What the hell is going on here?!"

He's shouting it at no one in particular.

( caravans )

Eventually he moves with the others up the side of the cliff, to where the caravans are, and finally starts getting answers. They give him a phone to replace his waterlogged one, and finally an explanation. The explanation makes dread sit heavy in his chest, but it's a familiar kind of dread. It's already his responsibility to save Eos from the darkness; extending that to saving Eos from some mysterious force (which he hasn't ruled out still might be the darkness, in a different form) isn't a hard pill to swallow.

While everyone else mills about, Noctis sits down, the Carbuncle curled up in his lap, as he fiddles with the phone and ear buds. That, at least, is familiar, and he's better with phones than new people.

( welcome feast )

Noctis is still mostly keeping to himself, sitting at the end of a table with a plate piled high with several kinds of meat - Korean BBQ, skewers he recognizes from home, and other types of fare - and little else. The vegetables and fruit have been passed over in favor of a decidedly carnivorus diet.

He's outright ignoring the jester and others in favor of still scrolling through the new phone, but when it begins to get crowded, he'll look up and pick up Carbuncle, the familiar sitting next to him. The blue-colored creature yips softly as he sets it on the table.

"I have some space next to me." He doesn't sound enthusiastic about it, but he's offering.

( training grounds )

After a heavy nights sleep, he gets a late start. But the first thing he does is head to the training grounds. While he doesn't like training, figuring out what kind of magic he has here is a priority.

So catch him crouched down, a rather ornate sword in hand at the training grounds, again talking to the Carbuncle, its large ears tilted to the side as he murmurs quietly to it. It looks like a one-sided conversation, but it seems to be responding to him somehow, because he occasionally quiets and then nods.

He'll approach any characters who seem to have brought their own weapons after a little bit.

"Hey, would you be willing to spar?"

(ooc note: noctis is going to have light magic, which will be manifesting as shields and light at first! )

( post holey grail - network )

all right.

i get it, in video games starter quests can be kind of bullshit, and sometimes they're supposed to teach you to think for yourself. so yes, don't accept anything unless it's on the Important Quest Board, got it.

but that forest was kind of trippy. i thought maybe those guys set up some traps, but the little Avalonpedia they have here said that's just how that forest is.

anyway, question: i know we're all here to fight a great and terrible power and because of what happened at home, we lost our own powers. but what kind of magic have you gotten from your familiar, and is it like theirs?

[ he just assumes everyone's familiar is inherently magical. but his light magic is like his carbuncle's protection spells. ]

( ooc: i'm also open to having wildcard prompts thrown at me for other settings, like the inn or the actual grail quest! )

SOAKING IN YOUR ARRIVAL

[ As if getting dropped in the bay wasn't bad enough on its own. Louie's soaked down to the bone, his feathers keep hanging in front of his eyes, and he's pretty sure there are anchovies stuck in his hoodie. Do bays even have anchovies? It feels like something is swimming around in there.

But now they expect him to climb? Up a cliff? ]

Stairs? Come on! Couldn't they have at least taken the time to install a magic escalator? [ Or just a regular, mechanical one. Or an elevator! He's not picky! ]

EAT WELL

[ Louie ignores most of the festivities, heading straight to the banquet tables to have a nice meal before he gets some rest. He's hesitant at first - this looks like the sort of food old people serve you against your will - but it doesn't take him long to find something he likes.

He's got his plate full and is browsing the drinks when his eyes light up. ]
They have soda?!

[ A welcome surprise! He peers down at the mysterious bubbling liquid in the fancy goblets, his eyes narrowed as he mumbles one phrase over and over. ] Cherry Pep, Cherry Pep, Cherry Pep... [ It seems that he's looking for something very particular to drink. ]

QUEST COMPLETISH: NETWORK

I could have told you guys that was a scam. I mean, sending hapless newbies into the nearest mysterious forest? Oldest trick in the book.

I could say the same thing as well. Although I’m highly familiar with fetch quests back in my world, except it was not a scam and that I had to destroy the stuff we’re searching for since they have soul pieces attached onto them.

(Take it from someone who was both an unwitting soul jar and a soul jar destroyer and didn’t buy into the scam at all.)

Arrival - A

Donovan was helped to the shore, his bright pink jacket as soaked as the rest of him, but somehow the water just made the jacket seem even pinker. Or maybe that was an illusion brought on by the perfectly rational expectation that the jacket could NOT be THAT pink normally.

"Well!" he said cheerfully. "I always did like to make a splash! Usually my wife says that my jokes are all wet but usually she's dripping with sarcasm, so maybe I'm not actually all washed up after all? I'm shore I've still got a few more good years in me yet." He grinned and offered a sodden hand to whomever he was, in theory, talking to. "Nice to meet you, I'm Donovan."

Welcome Feast - B

Donovan wasn't just playing along with the Jester. What had started as playing along quickly became a joke-off. The older man in the bright pink jacket was clearly having fun. And he was clearly aware that the Jester was the professional here, so the Jester got to be the star. Which meant he was cracking just enough jokes to hold his own, and leaving clear openings for the Jester to take. After he bowed out, reading the audience that it was the right time, he grinned and looked for an open seat.

"I'd ask if this seat was taken, but if it was, they clearly put it back when they were done with it. May I use it until it is taken again?" he asked whoever was sitting near an empty chair with a grin.

Harry Potter | Harry Potter series (OTA)

[personal profile] phoenixwiz 2020-11-01 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
(Arrival)
One minute earlier Harry was at the Headmaster’s Office, trying to repair his old wand with the Elder Wand’s help, but the next thing that happened, he finds himself plunged deep into the water and immediately resurfaces to catch his breath. He is in shock to discover that this is not the Office he was in a while ago, then he hears squeaking next to him, turning around to see a pink Pygmy Puff (just like Arnold, except it’s not Arnold and it’s actually a girl!) floating in the water thanks to her puffy fur acting as a life saver.

Harry motions the creature to swim towards him and hang onto his left shoulder like it is like a raft before he begins to swim to shore with the Pygmy Puff hanging onto the shoulder for dear life. Once he gets both of them to the beach, he lets her jump onto the sandy ground while he takes off his jacket and squeezes out the excess water out of it before he turns his attention to the little puffy creature staring at him.

“What are you doing here?” he asks the slightly shaken creature, however she is too shell-shocked from the water to give off a squeak, when Harry notices a crowd of strangers and many creatures who are also present in the beach and not a single person look like they came from his world at all. This day has gotten even weirder for the tired Boy Who Lived and he has no clue where to begin.

(Welcome Feast)
After getting himself cleaned up at the wash room, Harry is then directed to the main dining hall and he has gotten himself a plate of food he could recognize (bangers and mash with peas and onion gravy) before sitting down near the end of a table. He has no time to listen to the jester and other entertainers as he eats while the Pygmy Puff, now named Rose for her pink fur, happily munches on a small plate of leafy greens on the table (since she is still tiny even with all that fur).

When everyone starts to fill up the dining hall, he sees that there is someone looking for somewhere to sit on and he moves himself, Rose, and their plates & his goblet of a drink similar to Butterbeer, directing the person to the space next to him, “Hey, I just moved a bit for you to sit on and not worrying about eating food on the floor.”

(Training)
(OOC: Harry will start off having kinetic magic, although it will be weak at first.)
After a few nights of rough sleep, Harry finally gets up to head for the training grounds to get started: having gotten used to getting advance lessons and teaching lessons to his fellow students at home has taught well him; he knows that he has to get used to this world’s magic and find out what kind of magic he has gotten in here.

Luckily, the Elder Wand of all things did followed with him, even though he had plans to get rid of it back home, so he might as well train with it while Rose happily naps on a bench nearby. He would stop for a bit to pet her fur, which she responds with a high-pitched purr.

When more newcomers arrived with their own weapons (whether they bought them in town or with them when they first arrived), he will approach them and ask them one question, “So, ready to get started and find what magic we have in this place?”

Jack Benjamin | Kings

[personal profile] theonlyrealthing 2020-11-01 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
1. Arrival

"Are you kidding me!"

He's sloshing his way up onto shore, and he's some mixed up combination of spitting mad, astonished, and wanting to laugh hysterically. The purple butterfly fluttering around above his head keeps landing on his dripping, curly hair. He keeps flailing a hand at it to make it take off again.

"Stop it! Get off me! Of all the times-- of all the times--"

Laughter wins out and Jack sits his ass down on the shore at the base of the cliffs, head in his hands-- one of them holding a rough silver crown, the false, of course it is-- and laughs high and long. God sends a sign now, after weeks of imprisonment, after ignoring him at his own vigil and then failed coronation, and that sign is a purple butterfly, not orange, and some drop into a magical lake. Great.

2. Caravan

The explanation hasn't helped any with the surreal, dreamlike quality of all this. Maybe he's just finally gone mad, stuck in that single room with that poor child Lulu, with his regrets and his grief. The way the horses turn their heads to watch him is a little weird, too. The way he's hearing voices coming from them, some weird horsey gossip about a herd-mate on another carriage today and their supposedly lame hoof.

He tries to ignore it, slipping into one of the carriages and immediately opening the minibar. He wants to get so drunk. When someone else climbs in with him, he offers a wicked, somewhat bitter smile, and one of the tiny bottles. "For the lady. Or gentleman. Whatever you want, apparently they spared no expense."

3. Training Grounds

The fighting style here is different than the style in Gilboa. That could be both an asset and a detriment. So he spends their stop watching the others, doing some strengthening exercises rather than practicing with knifes or guns-- he has limited ammo on that, anyway, he's not going to waste it on practice-- and he watches. He smiles and makes polite conversation.

"Interesting move you did there," he says. "Is that common where you come from?"

4. Eat Well

This is at least familiar. The people at table are a lot more varied than he's used to, and the tables are a lot longer, and the silverware is a little more rustic, but he is a prince. And he knows how to pick up the tenor of the room, to make small talk with his neighbors, to smile just right to make a good impression. He's a little rusty with it, after... everything... but he's quick to get back on that horse.

"I'd try the boar," he suggests of his nearest partner, looking at ease and comfortable. "Looks baked to perfection. Those these fried pasta things are probably something somebody died for, they're that good." Maybe not the healthiest choice, but he's a young man trapped in a dream that's still light-years better than a guilded prison. He'll take it. It's also completely unfamiliar, so he can't have half a dozen memories of which state dinner he'd had it at, or the time his father made it for breakfast.

The purple butterfly is perched on the crown of the chair. He's trying hard to ignore it.

5. Grail

He knows it's stupid. You don't send strangers out after mythical goblets that grant witches, you send the military or a horde of excavators or you just manufacture a new one that looks enough like the old one to pass. You definitely don't sent strangers who just arrived here and doesn't know the lay of things yet.

But what the hell else does he have to do? And there might be money at the end of it, which he's discovering fast he's going to need. So he manages to follow a helpful squirrel out of the space loop, and now he's staring up a tree at the now less-helpful squirrel's mate. "Look, I know this is as stupid as you do," he says, as cajoling as he can pull off while talking to a goddamn squirrel-wife. "But you don't got any use for that hunk of metal, and I do. You gonna help a prince out, here?"

He has not noticed yet that he has company.

Rhianon | The Lost Years Of Merlin | Spoilers (sorry her icons are... not the best.)

[personal profile] rhiaofdruma 2020-11-01 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Arrival - A

Rhia had not fallen quite like this since she got her wings. Not that she'd had them all that long. But she was still Rhia. As she fell, she tucked her wings - already used to the ancestral appendages - and curled her body, landing in a cannon ball with a delighted laugh. She popped to the surface and hit her hands on the water a few times making an odd swishing sound. Her huge smile vanished after a moment, and she tried again.

"Well if you don't want to talk, you could just say so, you hardly need to be rude about it," she huffed a bit. But then she grinned and swam for the shore.

any other Fincaryian might have found swimming with their wings odd at this point. After all, they had all been born feeling their loss, but they had only recently been restored as Fincaryia started to merge with the Otherworld. But Rhia was ever a creature of physicality. She was used to her wings from her first flight as though she'd always had them. After all, she'd been flying with out them for ages. Dreaming about them her whole life.

But this time the dive hadn't been intentional, she hadn't been tossed by the branches of a friend. And none of her contraptions had broken. So why had she landed in unresponsive water? She wasn't sure, but it would be fun to find out!

She made it to the surface and spread her wings wide to dry in the sun. And for the joy of having them to spread. She tipped her face up to the sky, smiling. Her brown curls trailed down behind her, though some fell in front of each shoulder. Her hair was home to a number of long bright green vines, one of which curled around her triangular pointed ear. Her clothes were all made of bright spring green leaves and vines, save for her bark shoes and the bracelet around her wrist made of different vines.

"Well, at least this is new and exciting. I wonder where we are this time, hm, Merlin?" she asked, then glanced beside her. Her smile faltered for a moment. "Right. No Merlin. Ah well. Wherever I am, I might as well explore!" She folded her wings across her back and headed for the nearest trees she could find.

Arrival - B

Okay, she got to be the hero this time? she could get behind that. It would help keep her brother humble when she got to meet him again, after all. And that was what big sisters were for.

But all of that was pushed to the side for the moment as they had time to themselves for a bit. She went to the horses. She have very little experience with horses other than Ionn, the horse that had once belonged to their father. So she didn't know much of how to speak horse yet.

anyone who came up to the winged woman of the woods would find her dutifully repeating every noise the horses made, trying to learn how to speak their language, a huge smile on her face, green eyes dancing with merriment.

Welcome feast - C

She was avoiding the fancier dishes, and anything she couldn't identify. She was also pretty much avoiding meat. But that was less obvious because she had found fruit and deserts and her plate was too full of those for anything else. She could be found sitting on a stool, wings tucked against her back as she popped a handful of berries into her mouth, eyes half closed in bliss. She had found the sweetest berries offered, sweet enough that most people could eat one or two at a time at most. She was eating them by the handful. "Any place with berries this yummy," she said to anyone who looked like they were about to ask, "clearly has a lot going for it," she popped in another berry and grinned. "Always trust the berries."

“Hey, I can hear you over here!” a young teenaged man calls out while squeezing water out of his jacket and a small pink furred Pygmy Puff is shaking off water from her body, “I didn’t expect to have a swim either and that I would have a little Pygmy Puff with me as well.”

“We’re all stranded on the beach for some reason we don’t know about,” he continues, he is already tired from the Battle and the memories still fresh in his mind, before taking a deep breath to think for just a moment and then speaks up again, “So, I guess we should introduce ourselves before we forget. A girl near him had been sunning her broad wings when she noticed him. She folded her wings across her back, the feathers mixing with the vines from her hair and clothes, and bounded over. She looked about his age, with bright green eyes and bark brown skin. If not for her wings she would look a bit like a tree took human form. Her hair had green vines with leaves in it, and her shirt and pants seemed like tightly woven vines and leaves, all spring fresh. They were so green that they looked almost alive. And healthy. Her shoes were made of tree bark.

"Oh! You're so cute!" she said. To the puff. He hardly seemed to warrant attention, other than as the thing the puff was sitting on. She reached into a pouch of woven leaves on her hip and pulled out a berry, offering it to the puff. "I'm Rhianon of the Druma Wood." Yes, she was introducing herself to a pygmy puff.

Well, it looks like Rose is making friends already. Harry looks up to the winged woman who is taking a liking for his little puff friend and gives her a shy smile as she continues to pet Rose.

"Oh Hello, it looks like she has a liking to you already," he replies, "I had a friend who had one back home. That one over here is Rose. Don't worry, she wouldn't bite your fingers off."

"I'd be more worried about you biting my fingers off than her," she said in a voice that blended sweet and tart. "Except you don't seem to have the teeth for it," she added with a grin. She turned back to Rose. "Hello, Rose."

A small creature poked its head out from under her sleeve. It had a small furry head with long flapping ears and a big mouth. It only had three teeth however, each green to match his eyes. The creature laughed. It was a grating sound. "Haka haka haka! Spindly man man have even less bite that the lastest one did-does!" It laughed again, mockingly.

She chuckled lightly and stroked the small furry head. "And this is Scully. Who apparently came along for the ride."

It laughed again.

Scully’s words didn’t annoy him one bit strangely enough. Meanwhile, Rose looks at Scully while trying to take a sniff on the creature out of curiosity. Perhaps she is doing her best to befriend them? That could be the case.

“At least you got someone (by someone, he means a creature companion) from your world who knows you very well. Rose wasn’t with me until I arrived here and saw her floating on the water. And I didn’t remember owning a Pygmy Puff back home,” he tells her before he introduces himself, “By the way, I’m Harry, nice to meet you, Rhianon.”

"My brother has tried everything he could think of to chase Scully off, I can't imagine anything as simple as falling into the water being enough to dislodge the poor fellow. Now that he's healed, he'll leave when he's ready to." She scratched his head again, then offered her finger to Rose.

"Harry, odd name. But it suits you. "I'm Rhiannon. Rhia to my friends." Take care if you call her a friend, Harry. She grinned. "So. Shall we find where this place keeps its sweetest fruit?"

Kise Ryouta | KnB

[personal profile] dvine 2020-11-01 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
1. Arrival

[Kise gets to only briefly yelp before he is cut off as his body hits the surface of the water. He doesn't remember what he was doing, probably sleeping, so this is the rudest of awakenings in history. Trashing and kicking around in panic persists even as something lifts him up and towards the surface and then drags him towards the shore.

Once he's there, the thing that dragged him out appears floating in the air above him- a woman, not older than thirty, looking as if she's made of air and winds, with long curly hair and wispy clothes, floats above him just... looking at him. She doesn't say anything, just smiles, but Kise does. He shuffles back even more, patting the first person he sees on the shoulder.]

I-I'm not seeing things, am I? [He shouldn't be surprised, considering all the shit he went through, but it won't hurt to check.]

2. Carriages

[Climbing up the cliffs is no trouble for someone that keeps in good form. Also, the spirit that introduced herself as 'Vila', makes the climb all that easier, what with her air magic and stuff. If he wasn't at that other godforsaken place already, he'd be freaking out right now.

She urges him towards one of the carriages and they end up going back and forth until she just picks him up and drops him in the carriage with her magic. This is the second time he's fallen today and it hurts a lot more- faceplanting into the floor of the carriage is never nice. He lifts himself with a grumble, rubbing his nose and patting around for a seat to climb on.]

Give me a warning next time!

[It's directed more at her than the occupant of the carriage. Yes, sorry if he ended patting your leg or knee, or just plainly intruding on your ride, he didn't have much choice.]

3. The Feast

[With a heavy sigh, Kise plops down in the first empty seat he can find, rubbing the back of his neck. A plate seems to float over to him and by this point, he's already used to the familiar just making things float around. He didn't really have the appetite for anything right now, so he's just picking at the piece of pie that "the wind" brought over, watching a Jester (what kind of place is this?) perform tricks.]

Magic studies... back to school we go I guess.

4. Magical Training

a) [Kise... doesn't know what to do.

He's listening to the instructions and his familiar is floating somewhere in the back behind him, trying to send him courage (or maybe she's mocking him - those giggles aren't very supportive).

This... is not something he can just learn from observing. Which is great! Fun! But also FRUSTRATING. The professor (?) instructs him again, patiently, and Kise tries again, focusing on trying to bend the light and air in front of him into... something! He doesn't even care what it is at this point!

And he succeeds! It's... a blob. A blob of translucent, shimmering light but it's enough for Kise to erupt into cheer. Sorry other students, but this is a success!]

b) Network: @ PerfectCopy

What kind of magic are you guys learning? In Japan there's no magic so this is the first time I can actually use it.

[ooc: Kise is CRAU from Prisma (as I wanted to keep him at age 18 because I can't age him up here (time frozen and all)) so that's a bit of info. Poke me at [plurk.com profile] WindsongWitch if you want to plot something else or hit me up with your own stuff!]

“That’s good to know that Scully’s okay now and he is ready to go anywhere he wants to go,” Harry chuckles for a bit, he is nearly done with dinner by the time Rhiannon asks him to find some fruits with her in the dining hall, “Hmm... I did saw some fruits over where the desserts are being distributed, so maybe we can go and get some for you and Scully and Rose.”

Oh, I think I poked his arrival, whoops, lol.

"Off the vine is better, but sure!" she said happily. "Let's go." She grinned. "Race ya," she said and took off running, angling her wings to reduce drag.

1 for Arrival (and yes, Harry can see the air lady too)

[personal profile] phoenixwiz 2020-11-01 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
Harry is in the middle of drying up as he is still drenched from the plunge earlier while his Pygmy Puff friend is shaking off water from her fur and body when he could feel someone patting him on the shoulder. Shocked by the sudden action, he turns around to see a man his age group. And yes, the teen wizard also sees the floating lady in the air and isn’t imagining things at all.

“You’re not making things up,” he shrugs in his reply before he motions the small pink furred creature to climb onto his shoulder, “I can see that floating woman behind you very clearly. You never saw people who can float in the air before?”
phoenixwiz: (When He Smiles)

That’s okay, mistakes do happen.

[personal profile] phoenixwiz 2020-11-01 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
“Whoa, I can’t fly without wings like yours,” he reminds her as he walks slowly, “I’m just a person with magic and no wings. Just don’t overexert yourself.”

Still, it is nice to have meet some people for a change. Even as much as he misses his friends back home, a part of him has to remind him that he will be stuck here for a long while.

When he does get to the fruit section, he didn’t beat Rhia in getting there first, but at least Rose won’t starve herself by him gathering enough fruit to keep her tummy happy.

She turned to face him and rolled her eyes. But she slowed so he could keep up. "You're like a butterfly who thinks all it can do is crawl because it hasn't tried to fly yet."

Scully laughed. "Or to fallyfall."

She laughed too. "Well yes," she said, tossing her hair a bit, grinning. Her eyes twinkled with amusement. "Anything worth doing right is worth doing wrong a few times first." She winked at Harry. "The wings are new. The flying isn't."

xD I think everyone can see familiars 👀

Kise stares at her for another few seconds, as if making sure she won't do anything, but as she just floats up there, he looks over to where pink fur is climbing on the guy's shoulder. That's... that thing is kind of cute, he won't lie. He doesn't know WHAT it is, but, you know- it doesn't seem to be attacking the other guy so it's fine. Right?

"N...Not really. I've seen people summon other stuff to fight for them but," he turns to look at the woman who is now fixing her long, curly hair with wispy magic, "they don't appear unannounced. I suppose I should be grateful, she dragged me out..."

“At least you didn’t drown. It is just so happen that I have a Pygmy Puff for a familiar now when I resurfaced from the water, she was able to float on water because of the amount of fur she has,” he explains to the guy in front of him, “Back where I’m from, we usually have familiars: usually owls, cats, and frogs, just not Pygmy Puffs or floating people until now.”

The other man probably never saw a Pygmy Puff before, but he doesn’t have to worry for this little one doesn’t show any signs of aggression at all, just being a nervous wreck from floating in the water for who knows how long.

Welcome Feast (Cw: he’s gross)

The demon had opted not to clean up. There was algae in his hair and mold and moss in his scruff that passes for an almost beard.

Beetlejuice wasn’t pleased to be there, but, was very slightly mollified by the fact he was visible. He decided to work through his feelings by eating everything that was available, glowering at the middle distance as he did so.

Have a stitched together patchwork man in a pirate costume that looks as though he kind of wrung it out. Sort of. The feather drooped into his eye. He rubbed his eye as he got to the bowl of grapes and the eye popped out. And landed in the grapes. "Eye gotta stop doing that... Could you help me find it?" he asked the person next to him. "Would be grape if we could find it before someone eats it." His remaining eye blinked. "Again."
