A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's chilly waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's paralyzingly cold for a few seconds before you're approached by the Lady of the Lake beneath the water's surface. She puts a vial of a vibrant, glowing red Everwarm* potion to your character's lips. The icy water doesn't feel so icy once consumed and you'll be able to move your limbs enough to swim to shore on your own. She can't stick around to explain, she's got to get this to all the new arrivals! Many of which you'll see plopping in around you.

If you can't swim, a handful of helpful ice turtles will scoop you up from beneath and drop you off at the shore. It's a fast process, as they no longer have to collect possessions and pets from drowning in the waters, so they're only needing to go around hitting the ice that keeps forming on the surface with their shells to keep the surface open for the falling arrivals. If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. If anyone with Animal Magic asks the turtles, they will give the full spiel, but very slowly, and they like to get off topic and gossip about other turtles you've never heard of. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones, a pair of earbuds, and a winter cloak** and tell them to "Check the Shit Box." The "Shit Box" refers to wardrobe more formally known as the Wardrobe of Finding, a hammerspace-like wardrobe that opens to each person's items and pets when the person touches the handle. It was recently enchanted by Merlin to prevent people from having to fish their waterlogged possessions and pets out of the water with them. From there, Archimedes directs everyone to settle in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and gives them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The rest of the universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies. For the month of February: there are complimentary chocolates placed on the pillows that make you feel warm and fuzzy when you eat them, all the rooms have been temporarily redecorated after hearing about Valentine's Day after an announcement about an upcoming Valentine's concert to be held by the off-worlders. They wanted to celebrate love too, and help the newcomers feel welcome! Unfortunately, this means that the two-person bedrooms only have one bed this month... maybe you can get a roll-away?

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out!

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

As the snows give way to rain and the cold persists across Avalon, it may seem as if some of the local businesses are suddenly short-staffed. A favorite spot might have shorter hours, longer wait times. Whatever it is, it seems that there are fewer Avalonians as the days go on. It is not long before there are signs posted outside local businesses and every clinic, there is an illness striking the populace and adventurers seem to be immune. While the healers can cure this malady, they are short on supplies and some of them are not easy to obtain. All are urged to take up a task and gather these ingredients. Anyone who does obtain one or more of the required ingredients will be given a Fairy-blessed Tincture of Wellbeing from one of the faeries who stayed behind after the tournament. It is said to bring healing no matter where you are when you sprinkle it on the ground in front of you. (Note: The tincture will teleport the nearest healing mage to your location. This information is not included with the tincture... surprise!)

A ⦿ Ingredient One: A Can of Sprite
Sprites can be found in and around Avalon, and thankfully so. The first task is to obtain a small can of magic dust from a sprite's wings. Now an adventurer may think to capture and take this by force, but be wary: sprites always travel in packs and will be so inclined to curse any would-be attackers dance till they drop, literally. Sprites are mischievous sorts with a wry sense of humor and can be quite fond a flower which grows near the Red Springs called the Cinnabar Paper Bush. Bring them a bouquet and beg for their cooperation, but be cautious of breathing in the flower's pollen-- the sprites will not warn your character that it's a potent ingredient in probability spells, so breathing it in may cause sudden repeated visions of 15 seconds of a potential future based on every choice your character could make in a particular situation. Getting out of the pollen's effects takes a full day of going through visions of parallel possibilities if there's no one to help you, and the sprites will be long gone by then. You'll need another adventurer to use their magic to get you out of this or prevent the pollen from spreading... good luck.

B ⦿ Ingredient Two: Deez Nuts
Within the Brocéliande there grows a certain tree. Even in winter, this tree produces tiny star shaped nuts that when ground into a powder are a key ingredient in many healing tinctures. However, the nuts are coveted by the wildlife for they taste quite sweet when eaten straight from the tree. Adventurers are tasked with entering the woods and retrieving baskets full of these tiny nuts. A warning was given to not go unarmed, those animals can be very protective of their food supply and they are rumored to be coveted by the Bear Fir, who won't hesitate to come for you. A warning to the wise: do not eat them yourself. They can be quite tempting. A tiny call will induce the desire to devour all of them, burrowing deep within your conscious. Not only would an adventurer fail their task but they would fall gravely ill for a period of two days. With these obstacles in mind, it may be best to team up and go at this task together to make sure everyone comes out alive and well.

C ⦿ Ingredient Three: Wait, isn't that a Pokémon?
The hills to the south-east of the Red Spring are home to the elusive Hill Trolls, who never leave their hills, but like to engage with any traveler who does come through. Most try to avoid them as they are extremely rude in every way. However, for this particular remedy, there is special bluegrass known as poliwag grass, so named because the seer who discovered this unique grass had seen the creatures it is named for in an alternate world and found them endearing. The catch? Only the Hill Trolls know now wherein the hills the small patches of this grass can be found. Adventurers are tasked with entering the hills, engaging the Trolls, and requesting a guide to the grass. Avalonians will advise doing anything the troll asks of you, it’s the only way to appease them and get the prize. Characters will be set about various household and yard chores by the Hill Trolls, who will lead them to believe that this grass will take several days journey to reach and they simply can not leave their home and yard in such a state when on a long trip like that.

Make sure to complete all your tasks, though, try not to be too angry when once their yard and home are spotless the Hill Troll produces a satchel of poliwag grass straight from their cupboard. They didn’t say you had to go on the trip with them and they will need to replenish their supply after, so they're not apologizing for anything.

A video is sent to everyone's devices, a strong magic spell making certain that it opens. Morganna's face appears. Morganna, after all, is to be listened to when she speaks. She seems to be looking at her nails as the recording starts, not looking at her captive audience.
"As infamous as Arthur and Merlin are, there are many magics they are unfamiliar with. They live in the realm of basic magics, the ones you all have touched and trifled with. But there are skills you will need in the future that require something a little stronger. Now if you came to me seeking spells, I would ask a fair price, dears... but it is my universe you are all saving too, so I will offer you a taste."

She finally looks directly into the screen. Despite that it's just a recording, it looks as if she's looking directly into your soul. She sees you even without you responding. Her lips curl up in a little smile, friendly and yet mischievious.

"Magic is stronger when more than one person performs it. Where you would be able to toss fire, you could create a fire tornado or rip the earth until it spits the fires of hell up as lava. To perform this kind of magic, you must be entirely in sync with your partners. Of one mind, of one movement. Open the attachment and it will place a memory of how to perform Synchronic Magic with a partner into your mind. It will still take practice, of course. Baby steps."
Magic-infused technology is a hell of a thing-- those who listen after the video ends and open up the attachment will find themselves rapidly flooded with what amounts to an instructional video and a visual sample of witches moving exactly in sync. After a little finger painting on each other's face and collar bones and some deep meditation while performing the spell, the caster of the spell will have complete control over the movements of the person the spell is cast upon. For the duration of the spell, the person who the spell was cast upon will mentally reside in the caster's head outside of their body. Their body will do anything the caster's does. For this particular version of the spell to work, it requires the consent of the person it's being cast upon, though there are other forms of the spell that do not that are not. With that knowledge, get practicing.

A ⦿ We Succeed Together
When a goddess gives instructions to learn something, you learn it, and so some of the locals have set up meditation tents at one of Camelot City's parks. The tents are filled with incense, steam, and have a spell cast on them to provide relaxing sounds-- babbling brook, yoga music, rain on the ocean, a crackling fireplace, the cries of your enemies, the relaxing sound of change falling from your favorite plinko machine... It will respond to your emotions and find the sound that's most relaxing to you to help you clear your mind. If you trust the person you're with, the spell will go smoothly and you'll be able to perform the much simpler practice spell provided in the tent: a shadow dance. Follow the dance steps around the circle on the floor of the tent; shadows will begin dancing along the walls of the tent outside of their light source. Your shadows will be able to separate from your feet and travel without you once the dance is completed. It will return after completing whatever task you need from it. If you need some help developing your trust in the other person, try playing a game of twenty questions or partaking in some of the sparkling ginger shots in front of you-- they've got a heated kick to them that's sure to warm you up and make you fire out a secret to the person you're sharing the tent with.

B ⦿ We Fail Apart
If you aren't perfectly in sync with your partner to cast Synchronic Magic, all kinds of things can go wrong. People who do not trust each other may end up accidentally sealing the tents shut and trapping themselves inside until they tell each other a secret they've told no one else, thus forcing them to trust each other. People believe the exact opposite at their core could end up temporarily body swapping with their partner until they wipe off the body paint and break the spell. And of course, even if you're completely on the same page and the person controlling both bodies has two left feet, a mistake in the shadow dance could cause the shadows to enter your eyes, turning both of your vision to complete darkness until you've been in sunlight for about 15 minutes straight. I hope you weren't practicing at night.

C ⦿ Loss and Gain
After performing the Synchronic Magic, magicians of all kinds are going to feel a little strange. It's a magic outside of their field of expertise used to perform further magics, after all, and they've shared their essence with another person to perform it. There's a chance that characters are going to feel very alone after being separated from the synchronic magic. Alone, tired, and wanting to feel connected again even if you're normally the lone wolf type. Synchronic magic makes you feel connected to others in a way that's hard to do otherwise, and without it it leaves a sense of loss and disconnect. It's not a side-effect that was discussed ahead of time, but the citizens of Camelot have prepared for it for anyone who wishes to stick around after their spellcasting.

After the magic is done, at the center of the tented area, everyone is invited to gather around a huge, prismatic bonfire taking place in the center of the park that the tents had been set up in. The bonfire is filled with flames of all colors, like a prism reflecting light and warmth, and acts as a beacon for casters' shadows to find their owners and reconnect with them. It also is enchanted to encourage affectionate feelings. This may inspire people to be more... touch-friendly than normal, wanting to hug and hold onto or simple be shoulder-to-shoulder with the people around them. These feelings can easily be fought even if they're present, but fulfilling them will help to eliminate the sense of loss from the synchronic spell ending. At the end of the night, little rainbow fireflies will begin to fly away from the flames, having been hatched within them, and fly off into the night as the flames turn to embers, and then to charcoal. It is said that if you catch a rainbow firefly, you can make a wish on it, and when let go they will take those wishes to the heavens with them. Some wishes may actually be granted, so if your character has a wish, submit it here.

Suki | Avatar: the Last Airbender

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-10 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Arrival
Suki realizes she's falling in just enough time to twist mid-air so that she hits the water feet-first instead of absorbing the brunt of the impact with her ribs. The force is enough to drive her deep below the surface, and she claws her way back to the surface with little of her usual grace, fighting against the chill threatening to freeze her muscles solid. She's only just managed to suck in a gasping breath of frigid air when the potion bottle's thrust against her lips, and she swallows more to keep from choking than out of any real sense of trust. The potion's effect is immediate and disorienting, and she only manages a "Who--?" before the Lady of the Lake is gone to see to the next pilgrim.

She treads water for a moment, getting her bearings and taking in the fleet of rescue turtles and small flotilla of bobbing heads, before striking out for shore. One of the turtles bumps against her hip, then passes her by, apparently convinced that she's able enough to make her own way out of the water.

And make her way she does, pausing once she's reached the shore to make a futile attempt to wring what feels like half the lake from her silks, wishing absently for a friendly waterbender to help her with that particular predicament before the strange alchemical concoction wears off and she freezes solid.

"When I thought about visiting the poles, I never expected it would happen like this," she mutters in the general direction of one of the ice turtles trundling back into the water.

Arrival C
Suki sleeps fitfully the first night at the Red Spring, and rises when the sun is only the faintest hint of greying light at the edge of the world. The clothing she arrived in still hasn't fully dried, and so she dons the Fire Nation garb she'd found in the so-called Shit Box, snugs her borrowed cloak around her to keep from freezing in the pre-dawn cold, and slips silently from the room, out of the inn, and down towards the training grounds that had been pointed out the evening before. Their purpose had been given as a place to safely learn magic, and she fully intends to take advantage of the available instruction later, but right now, with nearly everyone still abed, she has a different purpose.

She starts with a brief series of stretches to loosen her chilled muscles, then unhooks her fan from where it's fastened at her hip beneath her cloak and flows into her first form. It takes a moment to find her rhythm and compensate for the unfamiliar drag of the cloak, but she begins to relax into the familiar patterns, confusion and helpless frustration slowly falling away as she moves through the forms she's run a thousand times.

Her owlcat familiar perches nearby, meticulously cleaning its feathers, pausing only to chirrup a greeting to anyone who passes nearby. That probably means it's safe to interrupt, right?

Ingredient C
"Sweep and dust the house," the troll had said, and it had sounded like a simple enough task. That was before Suki had actually gotten a look at the state of said house. She now stands blinking in horror at the thick layer of dust coating every flat surface, at the cobwebs clinging to the corners. The troll had mentioned having been away from home for some time. From the look of things, she ought to have translated that as years, not weeks.

After a moment, she gives herself a shake and glances over at the poor soul who'd accompanied her on this errand. "Start from opposite ends and work towards the centre?" she suggests, and tosses her companion one of the brooms the troll had thrust into her arms before making a speedy exit, presumably to avoid being devoured by whatever strange beings must have made their home in all the dust.

Sync or Swim A/B
The tent is filled with the sound of rustling leaves and the occasional trill of birdsong, reminiscent of a pleasant forest clearing. Suki kneels, hands resting on her thighs, breathing slow and even, only the tension in her spine betraying her nerves. It isn't trust that's the problem, exactly - the task itself is daunting. Sending their shadows away to perform some errand? It's like something straight from a children's tale.

The instructor who'd sealed her and her partner in the tent had suggested a game of questions to help forge a bond. That seems like as good a start as any.

"Okay," she says. "Do you want to ask first?"

Maybe this will go well. Or maybe they'll wind up in one another's bodies, or temporarily blind. It's anyone's guess.

Wildcard

I'm open to any of the other prompts, if you have an idea!

[personal profile] tempredmental 2021-02-10 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Me?" Keith turned from the entrance of the tent where the instructor had disappeared to look back at Suki in surprise. Why did he have to go first? He took a breath, looking confused and maybe a little hesitant at first, but then huffed a bit before uncrossing his arms from the stubborn stance he usually kept in order to finally just sit down. "Fine."

It took a moment... but then, "Have you ever worked with any kind of magic before?"
warfan: (solemn)

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-11 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
She shakes her head, and gives him a small, slightly rueful smile. She doesn't regret not being a bender, but having some idea of how manipluating manipulating the world with anything but her own two hands is supposed to go would come in handy right about now.

"No," she says. "It's something you're born with where I'm from, and most of us aren't. What about you? Is magic common where you come from?"
tempredmental: (They're... Leaving?)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2021-02-12 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Keith nodded a bit, actually understanding a little bit of what she was talking about, but then shook his head to her question.

"Not exactly," he said. "There's like tricks and illusions, but not actual magic. Some people, though, can manipulate energy and do things that are like magic, but it's more just focusing and concentration than actual outright magical powers. Kind of like alchemy, but as a natural ability instead of a learned skill." Not that a person who had the ability didn't have to learn how to use quintessence, but it was definitely something that a person without the ability wouldn't be able to learn at all. "Most people have a very base level of talent, and most of them aren't even aware that they have it. But the rare few are really strong and can learn to do some pretty amazing stuff. I wouldn't call it 'magic', though... there aren't any like, spells or wands or symbols or potions or magical components to use.

"What do you do back home?"
warfan: (uncertain)

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-13 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Your energy manipulation sounds a lot like what our benders do," Suki notes, head canting slightly as she considers him thoughtfully. "We don't really call it magic, either, it's just easier to say that here than try to explain it. For me, at least - I'm a warrior, not a scholar. I led my village's combat forces at home. The Kyoshi Warriors."

A small, rueful smile flickers across her face. "I hope they're all right."
tempredmental: (Worried About the Journey)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2021-02-14 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Keith nodded. Sometimes, it was easier to say magic. It made people stop asking questions that were too hard to answer. But another warrior, and another leader. Keith smiled just a little.

"Yeah. Several people from home are already here, but I still worry about the ones that are still home. This whole... time loop thing that we're trying to solve. It's not... It's not great. Weird things happen with time when you mess with the fabric of reality."
warfan: (shock)

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-14 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Suki's eyes widen slightly in surprise, and then narrow as her attention snaps to razor focus. This is much more interesting - and much more important - than magical dance practice. "You've dealt with something like this before? How did you stop it?"
tempredmental: (Intense Watching)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2021-02-19 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"We created a massive implosion," he said, giving a small sigh. "We had just been in a battle where we had been jumping into a void space between realities, but the fight had caused tears in what keeps a reality stable and separate from others. In order to fix the tears, we generated the implosion in order to pull them in and seal them. And that worked. Mostly." He took a breath. "It ended up causing a time slippage for us, and we lost three years. So, not exactly what's going on here... but kinda the same, I guess."

Ever since Sokka arrived to the Avalon he's been going back to the beach every month to check for new arrivals. It had been fruitful so far, conserving he has found Zuko and Toph (... and Azula) last month so he had decided to continue in hopes for a jackpot.

And a jackpot he did find.

"SUKI!!" He's rushing over to her as fast as he can, almost tripping on his feet because he can't believe his eyes.

Suki whips around at the sound of that familiar voice, and while her disorientation doesn't vanish, it's momentarily buried beneath delight and relief. If she had to choose someone with whom to face unexpected icy lakes leagues from where any such lakes should be, he'd be at the very top of her list.

"Sokka!"

She hurries towards him to meet him halfway along the snowy shore, dodging around another of the rescue turtles, and checks her momentum only enough to avoid sending them both sprawling before throwing her arms around him in a fierce embrace.
bendless: (Happy blush)

[personal profile] bendless 2021-02-11 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Once they're hugging each other, Sokka can let tears form a bit in his eyes because it's real. Suki's real. It had been a few months already so he's had more than enough time to miss her presence.

"I missed you so much." Before he even thinks about kissing her like he would very much like to, he has to confirm something. "What's the last thing you remember? It's a weird question, I know, but I'll explain soon, trust me."
warfan: (uncertain)

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-12 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Meeting up with the other Kyoshi Warriors after leaving Ba Sing Se," Suki replies immediately, though her brow furrows in puzzlement. "We'd gone to visit Iroh's tea shop. Why?"

She pulls back a little, just enough to study his face and note the gleam of tears - which, in light of his question, is more than a little troubling. "What's going on, Sokka? What is this place?"
bendless: (This is worse than we thought)

[personal profile] bendless 2021-02-16 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because this place... can take people from the past or the future", Sokka explains. He knows it sounds crazy so he continues on. "I remember us about to invade fire nation airships. Katara remembers seeing Zuko's coronation. It's all different, even if it shouldn't be possible."

Though that brings him to her other question. "This place being Avalon. We were all brought here to save this world... and our own. Time is frozen both here and there. It's hard to believe, but I've been here for a few months now with Katara. Zuko, Toph and Azula arrived last month."
warfan: (uncertain)

[personal profile] warfan 2021-02-21 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"But...I remember taking the airships, and the coronation. We were all there. How could things keep happening if time's frozen?" She's frowning at him now, brow knit in confusion. "Is this some kind of joke?"

It's hopeful rather than accusatory. Even if this place wasn't clearly somewhere she's never been before, she knows this isn't Sokka's style of joke. But a bizarre prank would be far easier to wrap her head around, and far less daunting than dealing with friends - and enemies - whose memories may not match her own.
bendless: (Sweet smile)

[personal profile] bendless 2021-02-27 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know I joke about a lot of things and even serious stuff like this, but this isn't a joke. I don't know the details on how time works either, but that's how it's been."

He smiles a bit before putting a hand on her cheek. "Still... we're the same people. Just with slightly different memories. You'll get used to it."

Harry turns his attention to the lady next to him asking if he wants to go ask her a question first. Normally, he would have let the ladies go first, but since she asked him, he might as well to do since he has been in Avalon the longest between the two of them. Giving her a smile, he does give it a thought before he makes a reply to her.

“Okay, I’ll definitely go first, Miss,” he agrees to ask her a question before he begins the Q and A session, “First question, what was your occupation like before coming to Avalon?”

Very simple question to ask, but he hopes that it wasn’t too much to ask.

"It's just Suki," she says, though there's a hint of humour in her voice. "I was the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors. Still am, I think - if time really has stopped while we're here, there wouldn't be any need to replace me. Even if it hasn't, they'll search for me first."

She considers him for a moment, then asks her own question. "What do you miss the most about home?"

“Nice to meet you, Suki, my name is Harry,” he introduces himself to her before he listens to her answer well, “It sounds like you’re very dedicated to your team back home. Hopefully, there is a way to get the whole team back together again after time gets unfrozen.”

He then thinks long and hard on the question she gave to him before he then replies, “Probably the friends I had back home. They’re like family to me, I’ve known many of them for a long time, and I’m hoping that one day I’ll see them again.”

"Do you have anyone you know from home here?" she asks - while she's not entirely certain the rules of the game technically allow for follow-up questions, if the point is to get to know each other well enough to form the basis of trust, it probably can't hurt. And she'd be lying if she said she wasn't interested in how people have been marked to be pulled to Avalon.

“No, Suki. Sadly not a single person from home besides me is here,” he sighs deeply, as much as he wishes there is another person from his world besides him who is in Avalon, no one he has known back home hasn’t showed up just yet.

“Alright, did someone told you about how magic in this world function so far?” Harry asks Suki, not sure if someone has informed her about the way Avalon magic works.

"The basics," she says. "I know we can do magic here because of our familiars."

Her own familiar isn't present in the tent, but he might have spied the tortoiseshell owlcat hunting for a late afternoon snack outside.

"It makes sense - the original benders in my world learned their techniques from creatures closely tied to their elements. --What's your connection with your familiar like?"

Soon enough, Rose pops in and squeaks happily to see a new person and a possible new friend. This makes Harry happy to see his familiar, laughing as to how adorable she is whenever she decides to pop in at will.

Harry is tempted to talk about Hedwig but he is still not over her demise right now so he decides to discuss more about Rose instead, “Well, both me and Rose are quite really close. She enjoys meeting people and cuddling them. She is a Pygmy Puff, so she is small in size but she is not too hard to find in her pink fluffy fur. Um... Is there anything from home you wish to have on hand in Avalon?”

Zuko's guided into the meditation tent by the instructor, not put off by the faint forest sounds in the background as he lingers at the entrance. As he steps in, though, he's stunned at who he finds. Likewise, the instructor is stunned at how quickly this guy enters to go greet her, but shrugs and seals their tent as Zuko rushes up to meet her. He's not smiling or anything because he's Zuko, but it is a pleasant surprise, for sure.

"Suki?!"

He doesn't move to hug her or even wave, but sits crosslegged before her without invitation, at ease and eager.

"It's so good to see you! When did you get here?"

It seems the 20 questions have begun quite naturally. He wasn't expecting a friendly reunion. That is, provided she's from a point where she remembers they're friends... He's a bit paranoid about this, and hitches only after he's excitedly blurted out the assumption she already trusts him. He should know better by now than to assume anything in this sort of place, but relief to see a familiar face overtakes that lesson learned.

Suki's head snaps up at the sound of the familiar voice, and she blinks at him for a moment in surprise - she hadn't expected to find anyone she knew in the training tents, else she might have sought them out on purpose - before breaking into a friendly smile. Which should at least answer the question of whether or not she remembers they're on friendly terms, even if it doesn't narrow down what her point in their mutual timeline is much beyond that.

"Zuko! I haven't been here long, just a few days." She winces slightly, and glances aside. "I'm sorry I didn't come find you to say hello - this has all been a lot to take in."

The relief from seeing a familiar faces multiplies into relief that it's a welcome reunion... He's all but at ease now just for knowing she's at least from that far on in time that she remembers they're, uh, friends now. Much better than their first reunion in the Boiling Rock.

"It's okay, it's a big place— how could you have... You know Sokka's here, right? And Katara and Toph, too!"
