It's the 4th! That means that it's time now for our current players to plot for the month ahead, get some new CR and chat together about things to come. Go ahead and copy/paste the form below. Or don't. We aren't your parents, we can only make really good suggestions. (Unless...? Nah.)

Character Name: Princess Allura
Canon: Voltron: Legendary Defender

Info: A warrior princess and a dispenser of deus ex space magics. Her father, King Alfor the Great, created the giant robot Voltron as a weapon to protect the universe. However, her planet was destroyed, the pieces of Voltron were scattered across the stars, and after being kept in stasis sleep for 10,000 years, she awoke to a universe completely dominated by the same empire which destroyed her people. Having lost almost everything, she decided the only sensible thing to do was start sacrificing everything else she could scrounge up to fight back. ... oh, and start fighting back with a ragtag group of rebels, I guess.

She's been raised to believe that a leader's purpose is to do everything for their people — and as a result, she's highly mission-oriented and not adverse to taking risks or making big sacrifices. While she can be a little hot-tempered and hold grudges, more often than not she's a sweet person who likes hugging people and has a soft spot for sparkly things. She also enjoys milkshakes, but can't bring herself to drink them after learning where the milk comes from.

Magic & Familiar: Cognitive Magic, and a Balmera which is essentially a living planet. This one is about the size of a melon, and it looks like a rock that sometimes rolls around after her.

Desired CR: IC, she'll be looking for friends and allies! Allies for obvious reasons, but having personal friends is still a bit of a novelty, since she's more used to formal interactions. Enemies are always welcome, especially because it helps show some more extreme sides to her personalities. What else... oh, I'd love to have her start meeting up with all the other royals in the game. Let's start a Princess Squad or something!

Known Plans: Nothing too concrete, so far the focus is on doing quests and gathering rewards! I have some plotting started for this month's quests, but I'm down to discuss any of them. If nothing else, maybe we can do some group quests — I'm working to save up 40 points to regain all four of Allura's pet space mice, so the more people to thread with, the merrier!

(I'm also interested in discussing some housing ideas — I'd eventually like to have her live with castmates, but I've been wondering if there's a more interesting way to spin it than simply having a cast house. Maybe a mini-community, idk. If anyone is more creative than I am, let's discuss?)

They'd probably actually get along really well? I've always played the angle that Allura is someone whose responsibilities forced her to grow up too fast, since whenever she's self-indulgent she's surprisingly childish about it. (Like playing with anti-gravity spinny chairs when she's supposed to be resting.) So yeah, it'd be great to make friends who can meet her on multiple levels.

Admittedly, I am a little canon blind to Voltron but I am interested to see where the CR will go. Then I shall have to tag her when there's a catch all or something!

I do plan on having a catch all for Ken at some point tomorrow or later this week? Unless Allura wants to have this tweenager hug her or you're up for the both of them doing a quest?

You know what? This just reminded me that there was one other thing I wanted to start a log for, besides quests — the Frost Fairies mentioned in the last end-of-month update. I had a prompt idea or two for that... maybe I should get a catch-all log up this weekend, before I forget about it again.

But aside from that, if you're planning on having some open prompts on your log, I'll keep an eye out for it!

Princess squad princess squad

So Caster is technically a Princess, even if she's not sure she has the right to consider herself as such anymore after burning all of the bridges with her father (the Kingdom's king) and everyone else in her life.

She's not likely to admit it right off unless deep discussions happen but I think these two could be interesting?? And have a lot to talk about once it gets that far.

Oh absolutely. Like, I'm canon-blind so I don't know Caster's life and circumstances — but Allura's loyal to her father to a fault, carrying his beliefs of royalty as servants to the populace to really unhealthy levels. Like to the point that I thought the series was building to a moral about "being a selfless hero is good, but also please practice self-care".

So... yeah, it does sound like there's some juicy deep discussions to happen here?? Especially since despite the clash in viewpoint, Allura would absolutely want to hear Caster out. I'm sure we can start building to it?

Yeah, Allura is very loyal and devoted to her kingdom...whereas Caster has the reputation of 'Witch of Betrayal'.

Admittedly, part of the reason she betrayed her Kingdom and her father is because a Goddess intervened and twisting her heart to help a hero the Goddess favoured. I think there might be some jealousy towards Allura on Caster's part for being who she might have become if all that hadn't happened.

These two seem like they would come at this from completely different angles, so yes, once we get that far I think it'd definitely be interesting to see them debate the matter. Caster'll be around doing quests so I'm sure they'll have the chance to run into each other and start building up to things.

Also, if Allura sees Caster without her hood up, she has pointy ears too! Not an Altean though.

Their talk is going interesting directions, so I want more. Actually she and Dust have some things in common, in broad strokes, so maybe they can share a chance to not be terrific at a more normal life.

I was actually curious, should we get into the actual tournament battle at some point?? Because talking fantasy weapons has been a lot of fun, so I'm not exactly in a hurry.

It would be great for these two to be friends! It'd probably be interesting to hear about how Saber disguised herself as a man in life so that she could be King. Besides that, there's also quests!

Honestly, Allura would be all thumbs up about the disguising. The idea that good leadership has anything to do with gender roles is very much an Earth thing. But adapting your form to get the job done? That's right out of Altean strategy, through and through.

TBH I think Allura would already want to do some quests with Saber? If you have any ideas in mind let me know — I think Team Voltron will be doing the Librarynth as a family, and I do have some plans for the one with the heart crystals. But otherwise, let me know, we can probably bang things out!

(Or... just give me a bit to sit down and look at the quest list again. I'm a little mentally drained this week.)

There's already a bunch of people who wanna take on the Librarynth with Saber, so I'm honestly thinking more about the "Save a Beast, Kill a Man" quest since I'm finally getting out of my own flop and should probably start turning in quests for Saber to reach knighthood (and actually get some rewards).

It's a bit of a moral dilemma quest as well, which while fun to think about... is still a lot of mental work, so if this doesn't work, there are plenty of other nice quests to go on!

It can be plotted out whenever you're good to do so, though.

I'm down for some moral issues! Especially since Allura might actually be in favor of killing the husband, if he's as much of a piece of work as he sounds. Either that, or at least using some cognitive magic trickery to scare him into showing more respect for the wildlife...?

An understandable sentiment. Thinking about it now... though Saber is bound by her morals and oaths as a knight, it's not like she's sworn not to kill. In the end, it comes down to how much of a piece of work the guy is, and a lot of thinking/plotting. Sounds fun!

Exactly, and this is a good chance to explore where the line is between heroic and not!

Whatever works best for you! I'm currently trying to rev my brain up into making an open log for Saber, and with any luck, it'll be out by tomorrow if I can manage it... but if you have a specific way you want it to start, then by all means.

allura is my Forever Girl, and since haru also comes from a canon that's pretty male-character heavy i'm pretty invested in having her branch out and form friendships with other girls.

by which i mean, i've been meaning to throw haru at allura.

I also feel like Allura would find a rabbit person delightful, since they're not that far removed from mice. ... well, of course, that and the fact that animal people aren't even strange by alien standards.

Anything in particular you'd like them to do together? I took a look at your comment and saw you're aiming for nobility, would you like to take on one of those quests? Or heck, Allura might not know much about gardening, but she does like flowers...?

knowing allura's affinity for her mice companions, i had a feeling someone like haru would be in her wheelhouse of interest. due to internet issue i'm not planning on doing a toplevel this month until that's resolved, so i'll mostly be tagging out!! i'm not sure if Haru would do the pure of heart quest, but the idea of her and allura helping elves who are like...only a foot shorter than haru for the 'tall order' quest does tickle my fancy...even if it's just RPing the aftermath of such a noble quest.

i am planning on having haru start up a garden around March because i figure the game will be inching towards springtime weather around then!

So I had been talking about the Tall Order quest with a cloe RP partner — who didn't want to pass up the chance to make comparison between Allura and the elves — how would you feel about being part of a group of three for that one? I kind of like the idea of taking on these quests in groups, to make it feel more like a classic adventuring party. But it's entirely up to you!

ah with my shoddy internet connection as it is (until we finally switch internet providers mid-February) i'd feel bad making people in a group thread have to wait for me. i'd be down for a group quest for future quests though! i think a lot of avalon's quests would actually benefit with a larger party

the TDM also had interesting prompts, like the nut gathering or the sprites where you experience visions of alternate realities i was into.

Aaah, that's perfectly understandable! Especially since I'll be moving at the start of March, meaning... that's going to be a lot of hiatusing in that quest thread. Hmmmmm.

I've been tagging around the TDM, but I don't think I've done anything with the visions prompt! That could be fun! There's also the frost fairy thing for the month, if you're at all interested in helping acquire a shiny gift (disco ball).
