The simple answer is that he wouldn't because that's the wrong kind of attention and showboating for him, but that's no fun. He wouldn't pick something for himself, and would avoid participating at all costs, but in my heart it's this.

Balthier's perfect meal?

The more expensive the food itself and the less he paid for it, the better, but he does have a fondness for Archadian cuisine even though he has a complicated relationship with his homeland. Coeurl filet mignon with Tchita Uplands greens and a distinctly Archadian red wine sounds excellent to him.

Origin story for Balthier's jewelry.

Some of it probably came after he left Archades, but even before then I imagine he had a taste for embellishments— he's a lot like Cid in many ways, whether he wants to admit it or not (he doesn't), and Cid isn't exactly into dressing down, either. They both have an eye for detail, so Balthier probably wore earrings already when he was younger and then expanded to add the cuffs later on and chose each piece deliberately, because he does care a lot about how he looks and general presentation— it's important to him to look put-together.

His rings and bracelets are another story, they're all mismatched and don't coordinate with his outfit in the least, and I've always liked the idea of him grabbing a handful of them while passing through a bazaar somewhere (Nalbina probably) and then adding onto the collection as more bright and colorful pieces caught his eye during his travels. He's paid for absolutely none of these and most of them are cheap costume jewelry to begin with, but they're something Cid would never wear despite their similar tastes, which makes them significant to him.

You know, he has to wear something beneath them so they don't chafe, because otherwise they just wouldn't be practical. Definitely started out as a fashion statement, though, and let's be honest... a very young Ffamran had to learn the hard way that you have to take extra care with leather pants if you're going to be active in them. It's fine now and he's a snob about quality so nothing but the best and most comfortable will do, but there were absolutely Wardrobe Malfunctions when he was first figuring out his Balthier persona.
