How do you manage to work so hard at things?

I don't think it's about "managing" it, really. I have to work hard, to get to where I want to be. My Quirk requires a lot of study and training. If I don't work hard at it, then I won't reach my full potential!

But I see. You sound like my boss when it comes to training. I've had a hard time with it myself, but I think I understand that mentality now that I've had to learn magic from scratch.

Learning anything from scratch can be difficult. Especially when there is such pressure on you to do it well, and quickly.

So, first question. How do you do that thing you do? You know, where a topic comes up and you just somehow know a fun fact or some weird trivia about it.
I've always kinda wondered how you just memorize stuff like that...

Oh, well... I suppose I've just done so much reading and memorizing as part of learning and training my quirk, that I have just accumulated a lot of knowledge of various things.

[eardrums]

Oh - it's, uh... it stands for "ask me anything"? It's just an internet thing, don't worry about it.

And I guess that makes sense... some of it feels a little like stuff you might've just researched for fun, though. That's gotta be part of it, right?

And yes, I will admit that I've come to find doing research to be enjoyable in and of itself... Sometimes I can spend hours just reading about various topics, that don't even have anything to do with what I was originally trying to work on!

Yeah, I know... but it's kinda fun to do it this way, right? I just like having an excuse to chat, sometimes.

Like that - researching something kinda ends up being an excuse to look into other stuff that way, right? I've done that with music so many times, I've lost count.
Though, I guess you're a lot less likely to be doing your research online...

[Even though the idea of Yaomomo falling into a Wikipedia hole sounds adorable, she knows the chances are sadly - or perhaps fortunately? - slim.]

I understand. Any reason to chat with a close friend like Jiro-san is good for me!

Yes, I do tend to do a lot of my research in libraries, and my parents' extensive research encyclopedia collection. But I do some online as well. My mother and father bought me a subscription to several academic journals for my birthday one year! The access to cutting edge scholarly research has been very beneficial to me!

Now, see, that's why I'm lucky to have a friend like you, Yaomomo. One of the reasons, anyway.
Y'know what my folks usually get me for my birthday? Vinyls, maybe a concert ticket, some pedals or whatever.
It's great and all... but all that studying's made you into a real well of information. I can always trust you'll know the answer to something for me, you know?

... No, wait, more than that - I mean, who'd have thought you knew how to play the piano out of nowhere like that? You've always got stuff like that up your sleeve when we need it!

Ohh, but concert tickets and guitar pedals sound right up your alley! You wouldn't be able to play and sing as well as you do if you hadn't been exposed to music the way your parents have done!

And... Well... [ She beams, blushing. ] I'm just glad I was able to be a part of the band!

I mean, yeah, that's true... [And now it's Jiro's turn to blush, even rubbing the back of her neck a bit.] But the stuff you can just whip out like that, it's really cool!
It'd make you so useful out in the field, right? If it were me, I'd probably have to duck behind a building and pull out my phone to look something up...

As for the band, I mean... at this point, I'm pretty sure I would've found a way to get you up there with me, anyway.
It just felt right with you backing me up like that.

We all have our strengths, though! I've seen the way you work in the field. You're an amazingly quick thinker! Even if you did have to look something up, you would be able to take what you found and make it into a plan to put into action like that!

[ She snaps her fingers. ]

And don't get me started on how versatile your quirk is! Able to be used both to gather information and to attack. You have to be smart to think of all the creative ways you can use that, and you are!

It felt right to back you up! ...I-- I mean, it felt right to be up there, to be a part of the effort to show the rest of the school what our class wants to do for everyone.

W-well, most of my plans aren't all that safe, though...

I guess stuff like this is probably why you make such a great backup for me, though. I mean, I'm not sure anyone else notices that kinda stuff about me, y'know?
It's not like I try to show that stuff off or anything.
