I'm curious as to what possibly could have led you to be working as a porter at the time. A cover of some sort? You were on a mission when you first met her.

Yeah, I used to be a lot worse at my job. [ Making an impression can be useful, but it can also be a huge liability. ] But, let's see— that was fifteen years ago. And it was about ten years ago we got married.
