![]() Premise ⚔️️ Rules ⚔️️ FAQ ⚔️️ Taken ⚔️️ Reserves ⚔️️ Apply ⚔️️ Locations ⚔️️ Bestiary ⚔️️ Top-Levels Only ⚔️️ ![]() A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's still chilly, but not enough that you can't manage on your own. The Lady of the Lake is swimming around under the water, helping to rescue any wayward travelers who look like they're struggling in the water. This month's helpers are giant pillow jellies, a species of jellyfish that is capable of ballooning itself at the surface to create bouncy pads for characters to hop across to the shore, should they choose or not be able to swim. They come in a variety of bioluminescent colors, but do not seem to be very talkative even to animal magic users. Those who try may find themselves being ignored, even if they hear the jellies talking amongst themselves about this and that. If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. *Reminder: Your character's familiar may or may not be with your character in their initial plunge. If the familiar isn't partial to water, it may meet your character on the beach or sit atop their head while they swim. Or if they are, they might splash about and swim alongside your character. Familiars have different personalities and body specs and we leave those up to the players. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]() After the new arrivals come in, they'll find that this month they came in on the middle of a rather tumultuous time... people are arguing and debating about a future decision to be made. King Arthur recently tried to negotiate with Celliwig's people to open the doors to Camelot, but they refused, and the people have been left with a decision: 1. attempt long-distance, slow wooing of Queen Elphame via the Elphame Traders of the next couple of months, 2. attempt to prove a balanced and deeper understanding of the need for both pure and impure hearts by suggesting an acceptance of trials from Celliwig, or 3. band together under Camelot's flag to invade Celliwig. Celliwig is a place of communication between Elphame and Camelot that bypasses the need for weeks of dangerous, often fatal travel, so the choice is very important in regards to how Camelot both presents itself to the fae people in the future. To that end, people with strong beliefs about particular choices have arranged gatherings to draw people in to hear their perspectives on what the choice should be. A ⦿ Honey Over Vinegar
B ⦿ A Balanced Approach
C ⦿ A Show of Strength
• Amethyst: siphoners increase the potency of counter-curses and light mages will find this stone makes their hard light shields stronger than ever • Agate: strengthen cognitive abilities like post-cognition for a clearer picture of what happened by enhancing perception, and death mages will find they're able to extend their possession times by about 30 minutes by using an agate to stablize their aura • Moonstones: will increase navigation as a traveler's protection for kinetic users-- no longer will you risk tripping over a rock while going at enhanced speeds, or can be traded to fairies to potentially bring down a steep price to something more reasonable • Black tourmaline: a crystal that shields from opposition/negativity-- for technomancers and elementalists, this means that technology is more likely to side with them over another technomancer, or elementalists will find that when using opposing elements, theirs will come out stronger-- like water vs fire, electric vs rock, etc. • Hematite: can soothe blood, leaving it a good tool to enhance animal and blood magic-- animals may trust you more readily by having a calming effect on them, and blood mages may find that they heal more readily after using their abilities • Boji stone: alchemists will find that this is a good stabilizer for for particularly volatile potion combinations, and the properties of this stone leaves green mages to sense new types of plants they haven't yet encountered in passing, even if they're not looking at them ![]() With the surprisingly tame day in the Giant Cave, one would think that the Ash Mountains were something of a safe place. No one really bothered the travelers, but that's because no one had been home at the time. as it turns out, the Giant Cave is home to a giant... douchebag of a minotaur. Not a giant, despite the name. His name is Simon and he doesn't like to share, and now that a bunch of people have gone and taken his rocks (he didn't even know there were crystals inside, nor does he do anything with them). Now he has to take his revenge, regardless of not knowing who actually took the crystals that were never really his to begin with, they just happened to be in rocks near where he sleeps. Mages who are able to handle the smell are asked to come help perform a ritual of water purification for the lowertown's water system. This ritual involves multiple groups of people performing synchronic magic, a magic type that requires you to be in perfect sync with your partner. Draw a special ritual circle with four candles at equidistant points. Chant a spell in sync with your partner, and blow a special powder made of ground jasper, charcoal, and rosemary into the center of the circle. It will be drawn into the candles' flames and with enough people doing this, all impurities will be removed from the lowertown's water and dissipate into the atmosphere.
**** The above key points are a new feature we're going to start including on TDMs and Events. Since it's new, the format is still fluid, so please let us know if you have any feedback for this section here. It should just include brief summaries of each prompt to make parsing information easier and more accessible. The original prompts should still be read and referred to for complete information and details. **** MOD NOTES: • All test drive prompts are open to anyone in the game at any time to create your own logs with, but this post should have top-levels by potential new characters only. Current characters may reply to any threads, but should not top-level comment on this post. • If your application is accepted, you may accept TDM threads as game canon as long as both players consent. Characters may begin threading as soon as their journal is accepted to the communities. • A poll will go up a little later this week regarding the mentioned voting, which should be answered ICly by each character you play. The poll will remain open through the 15th so that newly accepted characters may also vote if they choose to. •If nothing here tickles your fancy, try one of this month's Quests for your TDM prompt. • The first "Arrival" prompts are present on every TDM, but contain seasonal tweaks for flavor. All other prompts will change monthly. • Questions about this TDM's content? Comment here! If you have a question about the game at-large, please head over to the FAQ. |

Flayn | Fire Emblem: Three Houses | Healing/Light | Pegasus
The first thing Flayn noticed once she got her bearings back at the Rent-a-Ride was that somehow, this place has made her a little taller. Now, as she sees herself in the mirror of the changing room at the springs, she can tell that she looks a little older, too. Could it be that her familiar, in bringing her here, read in her heart the wish to strike out on her own and cease to be treated like a child? Could it have changed her appearance to better suit her true relative age? Hesitantly, she tucks her hair behind one ear - ah, good, she was allowed to keep her pointed ears, as well.
In a fit of sudden defiance, she pulls the clips out of her hair and uses them to pin the long ringlets up behind her head instead, showing her ears off for all to see. She is not in Fodlan anymore and her father is not here. She will do as she pleases.
These thoughts are very exciting, and thus her mood is buoyant as she joins her fellow travelers in the relaxing spring. She soon turns to the nearest person to converse.
"This place is quite peaceful, is it not? Ah, I can almost smell the rejuvenating properties of this wondrous water! Please, tell me: what sort of a world do you come from?"
A. Honey over Vinegar
Cookies! On trees! Flayn isn't sure she's ever seen anything so fantastic in her life. So far, her preferred method of 'picking' them has been to hold her basket up under the tree while her familiar, a snow-white pegasus roughly the size of a large dog, flies up to knock them down into it...being mindful of wasps, of course. It isn't the fastest method she could have chosen, but she's never been much of one to rush things.
"Oh, it is so very difficult not to simply eat them now!" she complains to whoever's nearby. "There is such a wonderful variety! And they look positively delicious...perhaps it would not hurt to try just one?" She leans forward and lowers her voice with what would be a sly smile on anyone else, but looks more like harmless mischief on her. "You can try one too - I will not tell if you do not either!"
B. There's Safety in Numbers
Flayn does not hesitate to march out into the chaos' aftermath to heal or help anyone who may need it. As powerful as her healing magic was back home, she has very little trouble translating her Faith over to Avalon's magic, even if it is much weaker than she is accustomed to. She will simply have to practice to regain the whole of her saintly abilities.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of wounded to practice on here. She tries to tell the people organizing everyone that she is a war veteran, thank you very much, and does not need an escort! But in the end, she agrees that wandering around alone is dangerous for anyone right now, and allows them to cast the Buddy System spell to pair her up with a partner...
...although secretly, her true reasons for agreeing are that she realized just how romantic such a thing might be! Imagine, to be fated to meet one's true love through a spell that binds them together in safety and trust? Meeting as strangers but parting as friends - or perhaps more? It's the sort of thing she might read in her favorite romance stories, and she suddenly can't wait to meet whoever they choose to pair her with!
Once someone is chosen, she says, "Hello! I am Flayn. It is very nice to meet you, although it is unfortunate that I must do so under such gloomy circumstances. Still, we shall aid those who require it, and all will be well."
Safety in numbers?
"Yes." Edelgard says appraisingly. Her expression is more wary than it is hostile. She notes the visible pointed ears, and then nods at her. "It will be. You're looking well, Flayn."
Edelgard hadn't known who she was agreeing to partner with, only that it was a young-looking girl who might need some protection. Wrong on both counts, there.
oh shit XD
A pang of something complicated hits her - terror? rage? sadness? - but she swallows and stands her ground. "As...as are you, but you are...I watched you die." Her voice is not much louder than a whisper. "How can it be that you are here?"
no subject
"I came here much the same way you did." She carries on. "But I have not, to the best of my knowledge, ever died. We can discuss it later if you like, but I believe there are more pressing issues at hand." She offers a gloved hand. "Shall we? I'm given to understanding contact is necessary for the spell to take effect."

"What kind of world I come from?" That was a question for the ages. Gran had to put a hand to his chin, wondering how to explain the Sky Realm as best as he could. At first, he was hesitant to explain, but her curiosity reminded him of a person he holds dear, so he can't help but indulge her.
"My world was all in the sky, and people lived on floating islands. I can explain more, if you'd like."

He had almost forgotten to introduce himself. "Oh, I'm Gran! Nice to meet you." he replies, his smile widening.

A self he has always been infinitely curious about, of course, so he'll sidle over to her, and at her suggestion, he lets out an exaggerated gasp. "You musn't! I'm going to tell Seteth right away!"
He has no idea if Seteth actually showed up with her here or not, but he supposes he'll find out soon enough.

Her face lights up. "Claude!" Then what he said fully registers and she bursts out laughing, before covering her mouth in slight embarrassment at the outburst. "As entertaining as it would be to see you attempt to reveal another's indiscretions to my father without jest, I am afraid he is not here for you to tell! Besides, I believe you are more likely to eat a cookie with me, are you not? You are a known mischief-maker."
no subject
"I would never!" he says in exactly the same breath as he produces some cookies he'd pilfered already, offering one to Flayn and keeping the other for himself. Perched nearby in a tree, she might notice a suspiciously familiar-looking, cat-sized white wyvern chomping on a third cookie. "Oops, looks like my hand slipped. Let's agree that I won't tell if you don't."

"It's not all that gloomy, actually. While the damage might be substantial, the incident is fairly straightforward — more than some of the others we've had to deal with." And then, offering her own introduction: "I'm Allura. It's a pleasure to meet you as well."
no subject
She smiles. "Allura. What a beautiful name." She offers a hand. "I believe that in order for this spell to work, we must touch, is that not so?"
no subject
For the moment, she'll pause in their discussion of the problems they've seen to focus at the task at hand. She pauses to double-check what she's written down about the Buddy System spell, even though she's sure Flayn's already right: "Yes, it seems that's the most critical part of casting the spell. Touching, such as by holding hands, in order to create a magical bond... similar to the bond with our familiars, I would imagine, albeit far more temporary."
With one hand, she starts to stash the instructions in her bag, while the other takes the offered hand. "So, would you like to do the honors?"

Regardless, Flayn is still Flayn, so Dorothea approaches with a genial wave. Her familiar, a lyrebird, glides along with her and perches up in one of the tree branches while they greet one another.
"Flayn! Hello there, dear! Look at you--have you gotten taller?"
(I've heard your dorothea is GD so I'm running with that if that's cool! this is VW flayn)
"Dorothea! It is so very good to see you!" She drops her cookie basket immediately and holds her arms open for a hug. "Yes, it appears that this world has acknowledged my wishes and maturity as our own did not. I am quite pleased."

Nice to meet you, I'm Arai-san nanoda!
You smell like a snake friend!
no subject
I beg your pardon? I am not a snake, thank you very much! I am a dragon, if you must know. But how on earth could you smell that?
no subject
So you're like Seiryu-sama!
Arai-san can smell you're like friends from back home, with so many humans here it sticks out nanoda.
[You can look human, you can act human, but there are some things you can't change by appearance alone]

"Rita. I'm... yeah, I'd rather it not be like this, but hopefully we can get along until all this is done, and then do it the right way," she says, not unkindly but with some edge to her tone. Whether that's the dangerous situation or her default bearing is... up for debate. "I'll be counting on you. I'm not good for much here yet - fire support's about it."

Soon enough, Dimitri jogs up after his familiar, but not before Flayn's complaints reach his ears, startling him into surprise.
He certainly seems to be in good spirits, all things considered.
"Flayn!" Yet another familiar face, but one he is glad to see, and once the shock wears off, Dimitri offers a smile. "Forgive me, I had not realized you had arrived as well. And I do not intend to tattle, should you decide to sneak one of your spoils."
no subject
"...Prince Dimitri...but how is this possible? And you are smiling..."
She knows it's rude to stare, but she can't help it. The last she saw of Faerghus' prince was his bloody rampage at Gronder Field, and they had not even known he still lived before that...and then after, he no longer did.

Upon arrival, she's paired up with a familiar face. It helps ease the anxiety by quite a lot, and Marianne actually smiles at the person to whom she's been linked by the Buddy System spell.
"Flayn! It's good to see you."
Sorry she isn't the romantic stranger you had imagined, Flayn.
"Have you been here long?"
no subject
Flayn may have enjoyed her flight of fancy, but seeing a friend here is even better. She reaches for both of Marianne's hands in greeting.
"No, not long at all. I am still adjusting to this amazing place. It seems that trouble is never far from Camelot! Fortunately, they have the two of us to aid them." She smiles.
"And you? When did you arrive?"
(no subject)
C Red Spring
She'll warm up! She's just not used to talking to people... that are still alive.
She's in a light purple bikini and discreetly trying to figure out if the others are like her, or not, for whatever reason.
Honey over vinegar
"Umm... I promise I won't tell if you don't?" She'll even offer Flayn one of her cookies, since she feels bad that she's just been eating half her cookies up to this point and Flayn has been good and refraining!
