Poor Darin, that's the worst birthday present!! Hijikata will try to take out Caster in a familiar fusion battle (spoiler: he won't succeed), and after that he'll likely be too wrecked to try and beat sense into Darin next, so he can instead check on him when the rampage is over. He sucks at providing emotional support, but at least he can give him a pep talk or just pop into the forge with a job to demonstrate that he still wants to hang out with him!

That would be really cool since Hiikata doesn't know Darin's whole deal yet. That'll be an interesting conversation!

He really has no clue because he managed to miss out of all the crucial backstory moments, but he'll have some comfort to offer!! "Darin, it'll be fine. I heard of another guy who had a mythological beast locked away inside of him, and he became hokage!"
