Character Name: Emet-Selch
Canon: Final Fantasy 14

Info: Emet-Selch is the titular villain of FFXIV's latest expansion, Shadowbringers, and is known as one of the Paragons of the Ascians. (Basically, he's very, very strong.) Despite how he currently looks, he's several millennia old and acts like it. He tends to keep to himself and is hard to befriend, but there's a tiny nugget of kindness deep down for those he considers his friends. That said, he IS a villain, so who would want to be friends with a guy who has murdered several worlds worth of people...?

Magic & Familiar: Alchemy, Shadow gwiber

Desired CR: It's rather hard to know what to want with him, but I suppose I would like to see if there are people who are able to befriend him. I enjoy the sort of CR where people have opposing morals to him but are flexible enough to understand where he's coming from even if they don't condone his actions. Enemies, of course, are fine too.

I suppose that I would also like to see if he can get along with someone who can tangentially involve him in things. He's already got one friend who does that but he could always do with more.

Known Plans: I am planning to have him eventually become a KNIGHT. Not by choice, but simply because he's allergic to doing (ugh) openly good things and so prefers helping his castmates beat stuff up.

No but uh Megu's also going to be aiming for Knight quests mostly and they have to catch up on things when he isn't shoebill-ing... or when he's shoebill-ing... this is what he meant by his troublemaking friends, huh.

But yes, maybe they'll even run into each other during those knight quests. He probably does them out of boredom and for money. Squirrel it away in case Hyth gets into debt again...

She's going to cook him for dinner if he does and she's a terrible cook!! DX Never mind that she's already dying laughing at all the pictures Felih sent to her of him!!

She hasn't bothered him much while settling in because I have been dead from moving but feel free to assume she's been messaging like she usually did! She'll bother him to go out and have some tea or adventures with her as well to catch up. ♥

So, despite the snark of their first meeting, Zelda may actually be able to fulfill the role of the first one.

I don't know if you've played BotW, or the Champion's Ballad, but she actually forgives the Yiga Clan members who try to assassinate her (Stated by Urbosa where she said "Out of respect for the princess, you can live" or something to that effect.) So it's in her nature to even show compassion for enemies (Evenb if she's pretty much forced into a role to defeat one)

Also if he does indeed become a knight, y'know how that can go with princesses and all (She's going to path of a noble in order to have more influence on helping the people 'cuz she's got the experience and 'wisdom' and all)

I also play FFXIV and am up to date to start 5.4 so... I know about his canon XD

Emet is currently in a spot where he has no reason to act the villain outside of his own canon, and because of actions taken in his prior game, he's had the core reason behind his villainous behaviour (tempering) removed. So the only time people might realise he's not all that nice or charming as he looks is if they get to talking about certain topics.

Re: him becoming a knight, I don't think he'll listen to anyone who claims to be a princess or similar sorry Zelda, lmao. He barely even listens to people who call themselves his friends. But I mean, she can certainly try to boss him around. That'll be funny in its own right.

Edit: I'm legit trying to think of something that might encourage more talk between them. I think if there's ever a cause which divides people morally, he'll show the other less likeable side of him. She's certainly making an impression on him right now in their current thread though so I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes!

The old man has made a favourable first impression so, yes, possibly! Just don't expect him to go fishing.

Mentioning tea, these two should meet up again so they can chat about the wonders of alchemy and sorcery again. Regis has an interesting tale or two to tell Emet, especially after his misadventures with Nero (not FFXIV but DmC Nero).
