Let’s see…

My mom died giving birth to my brother and I.
My father and brother were murdered when I was five and I only survived because I pretended to play dead under my father’s body.

After that, for a little over a year I was in an orphanage. No one wanted me because they thought I was cursed. Kids and adults alike told me it was my fault my family died.

So…yeah.

Oh yeah, things got better. I got adopted by the town’s blacksmith. Taught me everything I know. He was the only one who believed I was a victim and not the root cause of everything and it didn’t matter what I looked like, I deserved someone.

It wasn’t always roses and sunshine. I had to work to become seen as someone trustworthy and it took everything I had just to get allowed into the smith’s guild. But in the end, I was the youngest person in the history of the guild to reach the rank of a master and I’d managed to carve a nice little spot for myself.
