Info: I've got an info post for him over here because LOL Japanese mobage that's only partially fan-translated. For basic info, he's a knight in service to the crown prince of a now-destroyed empire who spent a little over ten years being... well, dead. IT'S A LONG STORY. A skilled swordsman and martial artist, he's loyal and dedicated to anyone he decides to help, even if those people are technically on the opposite side. He's about as selfless as they come and, despite hating conflict, he won't hesitate to throw down to protect someone if needed. Above all, he acts according to his own moral compass, even if that means going behind the back of the one person who means more to him than anything else in the world to do what he feels to be right.

He's a very kind, supportive person who makes a great big brother figure (he's essentially the Team Mom of his group), but at the same time he doesn't coddle people and won't hesitate to call them out in a gentle but firm way if they're doing something bad/dumb. Baldr is incredibly mellow and is an expert at helping defuse tense situations because he has a tendency to be logical rather than emotional, so he serves as a perfect counterbalance to those who tend to let their emotions get the better of them. And he's great with kids! ... in part because he's kind of a big kid himself in a lot of ways but shhhh.
Magic & Familiar: Cognitive magic/phoenix familiar (which ended up being more appropriate than I could ever have imagined because uh he was just resurrected via fire in the most recent chapter haha...)
Desired CR: He won't say so out loud, but he's pretty lonely because he's never been away from his lord for this long before, so some friends would be great. He'd also really love some sparring partners, either for swordplay or for martial arts, as he doesn't want to lose his edge with either one. Baldr is the sort of person who can get along with just about anyone (seriously, this man has managed to befriend Dist the Rose of all people), so he does very well at helping bring prickly/reclusive characters out of their shell and then aggressively friendshipping at them with a great big smile. He's used to it, his best friend of 20+ years is a stubborn grump. Fellow knights or swordsmen of any sort would be A+! Anyone who can understand what it means to devote your entire life to a cause/person, basically. Also he sort of has a compulsive need to be helpful so that's an easy way to get him to meet people-- need a hand with anything? Sure, he'll help out!

Romance isn't on the table for him (he lives for Woden/Nuadha and him alone), but he's very much up for some casual no-strings-attached fun and he will absolutely flirt with any girl (and the occasional guy), sometimes not even on purpose because he's just Like That. I honestly would like to find him some partners for that? Nothing serious, just two people having a good time with each other. (Also I am 100% here for him living his entire life in this game in horny jail so I am absolutely up for women shooting him down too!)

Also, if you need a big brother, Baldr's got you covered. Let him make you tea and give you advice and hugs/headpats if you need them. LET HIM BE THE MOM FRIEND he doesn't have his "children" or his lord here to look after and that makes him sad. Give him someone to take care of, it's what he does best!
Known Plans: I'm planning to have him do the thief quest this month, but aside from that, I'm pretty open! Oh, and maybe have him accidentally end up with a bunch of baby dragons falling in love with him because that would not even be the first time something like that has happened... He needs to find himself a stable job somehow too but he might need help with that because he's... never been anything other than a knight retainer. (I kind of want him to end up becoming a model somehow because come on, just look at the man, he's gorgeous.)
I'm also thinking I'll canon update him at the end of the month because WHOO BOY THAT LAST CHAPTER THOUGH. Having him deal with the repercussions of being brought back to life for real in his own world (and having some info dropped on him by one of the gods themselves) will be fun, and by "fun" I mean he's probably going to go on a bender.
Other: My first month and a half or so were... kind of a disaster due to family medical issues but I'm slowly wading in, although I may still be kind of slow!

HE'S A SKILLED KNIGHT, REALLY...

I feel obligated to poke at this. I only barely started with Rays before the game got cancelled with the international release. But. He sounds fun and I'm keen as pseudo cast to do things! She def fits the 'spends life devoted to in her case, a cause. Her Duty etc as Chosen or so she believes at this earlier canon point anyway. But it would fit the big brother type thing too.

Aaahhh yes! Colette is one of my favorite characters from Symphonia so I was super happy to see someone app her and I would absolutely love to build some CR between these two. Baldr has met Kratos and Zelos in canon but not Colette, but given that Mithos was working with his side for a while I'm sure that he's at least heard of her so if she tells him who she is he'll probably put two and two together. (Not that she's the same Colette as the one from his world, but.)

They could have some interesting conversations about duty/responsibility, especially given that Baldr's was a voluntary choice and Colette's... well, wasn't. And that would definitely make him want to big brother at her, haha.

Yeah if he met those two and is aware on Mithos he's probably aware of his interest in the Chosen with regards to his precious Martel's vessel and all.

But yeeeeah there is that. Because clearly Nothing can go wrong in messing up a kid telling them they are expected to grow up and sacrifice themselves for everyone else.....

Ohhhh yeah he knows all about that part (and the impression is that he did not approve ahaha).

NOPE, NOTHING COULD GO WRONG AT ALL. He's already seen what happens when a kid grows up not being allowed to be a kid (the little sister of the prince he serves), so... yeeeaaah. He has a lot of Feelings about that sort of thing.

Yeah. And she did not even think to question it or anything until Lloyd was all um no this is Not Okay. Nope.

Aw. Yeah she did not even get like. Normal birthdays. In the manga we see it's more like a church thing all yay one year closer to her leaving for the Journey and we prosper again! sort of thing. Not. Really a celebration for Colette herself as it. Should be. So kinda. The more that comes out regarding her Journey and what everyone expects (it is already starting here) others are very ??? about it to her all unsure and Sus about it.

Oh man if he finds that out he will absolutely throw her a real birthday party. Or a half-birthday party, whichever comes first. Or just a party, because everyone deserves to have a birthday party! ~~Why no, he doesn't like parties, whatever are you talking about~~

I don't recall if there's a canon date for her birthday but I figure it's prob like summer ish or at least spring since the weather seems fine enough with their travels at Sylvarant at least? But yes def everyone deserves a proper birthday party!

That settles it, Colette is getting a proper birthday party for the first time in her life if he has anything to say about it!

Nothing, fortunately, but that's partly because he left the party to go hang out with his friend the party pooper. He did get yelled at for flirting with girls on their pre-party shopping trip though...

There's a lot Colette is ??? over because of how she was raised. What she sees as her duty etc. Like I figure part of the reason she is so oblivious/naive regarding dating and such is because she wasn't really. Taught all that because lol why bother she is off on her Journey at sixteen anyway. She won't be back. It won't matter/come up at all for her.

Hence how Zelos and his being.....himself....mostly goes over her head, for all that they do bond over being Chosen and I find it so interesting the way they connect still because of that in their different responses to it. But basically the flirting? Yeah if she remembered Zelos yet (earlier canon point, she has only heard of him through Sheena yet) she would prob be reminded of him with that tendency of Baldr's.

She's going to remind him of Mercuria in a lot of ways and that is going to make him Sad and probably also more than a little protective. Although he may sort of be innocently charming/flirty at first but he'll stop pretty quickly once he realizes it's going right over her head (and when he realizes her age).

YEAH Baldr and Zelos, uh, bonded. Birds of a feather...

Aw. I mean she won Sheena over and Sheena was legit sent to kill her because oh no Sylvarant's Chosen can't succeed in her Journey when it threatens Tethe'alla and Syvlarant gets the mana supply! So I could see her winning him over too possibly. Though yeah any attempt to flirt or such will go riiiiight over her head. Like she had No Idea why Zelos would be sneaking out of the city at night and need to get back in and thus know alternative routes or such iirc. Yeah.

Yup. She's Clueless. As much as she obviously herself has feelings for Lloyd. So. Yes it would go over her head unless Baldr was just straight up legit telling her 'I love you' or whatever sort of thing. That blunt to get it through her head. (Which is an optional scene you can get in the sequel with Lloyd and her and had me so !!! because I love these two dorks so much.)

She and Zelos have some great bonding between them though. I love the skits and how much they add in Tales in the interactions between the party.

Yesssss I specifically picked Colette in my playthrough so I could get that scene hahaha. I COULDN'T NOT, I love them so much... I also made sure to max Lloyd's affection with her in the first game too because. Yeah. They're too cute...

They're so precious. I know it isn't like explicit canon because that's optional depending on the affection system but. Yeah. They're cute dammit. I love them. Dorks that they are.

So this Sougo appeared in Tales of Rays as part of a crossover... :P Sougo's a swordsman with a difficult personality who is currently separated from his own big brother figure (talk about "anyone who can understand what it means to devote your entire life to a cause/person").

YES the Gintama crossover! I'm going to have to go back and watch that one again since I only sort of remember what happened in it haha. I would absolutely love some CR, Baldr is something of an expert at handling difficult people haha. (And by that I mean he'll be unfailingly cheerful at them while also not letting them get away with shit.)

They could probably work well as sparring partners too, so that might be a way they could meet?

I don't know if they ever interact but it would be a funny coincidence if they did. I only managed to find some gameplay demos for Sougo as well as his side stories! One of them is his typical complaining about Hijikata but the other actually has him being serious. The powers of the Tales Of universe.

Anyways we'll see if Baldr can rein in Sougo, but considering bitching at him has the opposite effect, it can't hurt to try being nice but firm. But yes, sparring partners! We can always handwave them finding each other for that too if you prefer.
