Lightly! Barbara is used to being in places where there are a lot of monsters and has occasionally been a lone warrior when in spots that dragons can accompany her. So small sounds and disturbances can rouse her, and she's awake pretty quickly.

Barbara calls Ceres (her dad's dragon) her "mommy" so Ceres at least saw her as a surrogate daughter. I think the rest of the dragons view her as family, but since they follow her lead when dealing with the party amd the Empire, they do see her as an adult and not still a kid.
