Name: Adalhard
Species: Guardian! It's a monster from Rinea's home country. Supposedly it was a servant made in the image of the country's god, the War Father... who became pretty monstrous himself by the time canon starts, so whatever good purpose the Guardians served was erased.
Why did you pick this familiar for your character?: Picking a Vestal or a Witch felt too traumatizing for Rinea (LMFAOOO) but I still wanted something tied to Rigel and its problems, so Rinea could wrestle with them at least implicitly. The corrupt wyverns were all too ugly so I picked this fucked up Big Man. LOL
Special features: Adalhard is highly defensive! He is essentially impervious to arrows, but weak to holy magic. Other than that he just has the power of Big Lance and Big Shield
Also he's got three freaky glowing eyes, horrible to see in the middle of the night, or frankly ever
How do they communicate?: Adalhard does not speak. He communicates with gestures when necessary (and mostly only to Rinea), but is mostly silent.
Personality: Adalhard looks pretty intimidating, but he's docile in a taciturn sort of way. Rinea is often found doing pretty mundane things, so he just stands around looking extremely out of place.... Maybe she should get him a cute hat to offset his Everything.
Relationship with your character: Adalhard acts like he's Rinea's retainer more than anything else. LMFAO he's very polite!!! He helps her down from carriages and carries heavy things and shit. He does push her to get into more dangerous situations/quests than she would otherwise go for, though. Ostensibly it's for her personal betterment... but he also can't get away from his "programmed by God to love fighting" roots.

Magic Types: Alchemy & Kinetic
Why did you pick these types for your character?: Rinea is a very reticent character, so picking the nerdy magic seemed to suit her best. Kinetic I picked because it's easier mechanically, so they balance out.
How does your character cast their magic? Right now Rinea casts her alchemy by writing it in a notebook/tome, and the symbols float off the page towards the target. She will be able to cast it without writing eventually, but she's still learning.
Rinea has only used kinetic magic a few times, and it didn't work like.. at all, so that doesn't look like much of anything! LOL
How does your character feel about their magic?: Alchemy is front-loaded with a ton of studying, and she's grateful for something to do, honestly. If Rinea stops Doing Things she might think about home and that is too much rn

Anything else?: one day rinea will be able to alchemize 37923748243 swords and then kinetically control them to float around, and i just think that's neat...... animé

Holly has definitely tried to sleep on Adelhard's head or at the very least use it as a seat because imagining she's so tall makes her feel mighty.

I love this SO MUCH... what a weird little duo. And I'm sure Holly talks enough for the two of them too LMAO
