A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's still chilly, but not enough that you can't manage on your own. The Lady of the Lake is swimming around under the water, helping to rescue any wayward travelers who look like they're struggling in the water. This month's helpers are giant pillow jellies, a species of jellyfish that is capable of ballooning itself at the surface to create bouncy pads for characters to hop across to the shore, should they choose or not be able to swim. They come in a variety of bioluminescent colors, but do not seem to be very talkative even to animal magic users. Those who try may find themselves being ignored, even if they hear the jellies talking amongst themselves about this and that. If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. (Though.. given how hot and muggy the weather is this first week, maybe you might want to ask him to toss you right back into the lake where the waters are still cool.) *Reminder: Your character's familiar may or may not be with your character in their initial plunge. If the familiar isn't partial to water, it may meet your character on the beach or sit atop their head while they swim. Or if they are, they might splash about and swim alongside your character. Familiars have different personalities and body specs and we leave those up to the players. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]()
After arriving, people may have heard about recent events-- the people of Camelot voted against war and to instead accept the trials of the people of Celliwig. The trials are now concluded, and a good number of people are emotionally exhausted and taking time to recover. Word from Celliwig has not yet arrived, but across multiple social media platforms, including AOL, there are clips of Merlin's cryptic addendum to Arthur's announcement along with notes that the meeting date was delayed a couple of days due to the awful weather and a need to rest after how bleak the trials were to some people. With people down and out, it won't hurt to have the new arrivals pitch in and learn a thing or two.
No matter what, make sure you bring someone who can watch your back. Rumors have it that the Fuath are harassing anything that comes near the area. Fuath are intangible spirits that may present as giant humanoids at about 8-9 feet each, but with the mane and tail of a yellow horse, with no noses and keen eyes. They hold grudges against anyone who takes advantage of their surroundings, even if not their own, and will come to attempt to throw those who try to take from the ships and flying through the air to land somewhere else in the water. Be very cautious about using names around the Fuath, as though they do not speak in human tongue, they have a particular ability to draw people and animals in using names that makes them very difficult to escape once you've been found. They've been known to turn familiars against their partners. They can be deterred, dissipated through attack to buy you time, but they'll keep coming so get in and out of the ship as fast as you can and definitely stick to more combat-heavy magics like dark and cognitive mages! *Note: These magics are all examples of ways to use primary magic, but feel free to get creative with your character's magic if you think of something else! B ⦿ Hoist the Flags
It certainly won't clean up all the algae and kelp and wayward flopping fish, it brings the ship back to a livable state.. and a much cooler, more explorable one. Get a quick exploration of the ship and help clean up some of the lake slime before Merlin flags over the traders. Or goof around until then, and learn a sick free spell called (Recipe) Cool Firework: create a rocket firework from your fingertips. Make sure you're aiming it into the sky when you cast this spell, or Merlin will set off a Camelot totem right beneath your feet. No sinking the ship when they just got it up. The fireworks will attract the Elphame Traders, who are leaving the day after they close up shop to head back to Elphame, before the set out to leave. Merlin negotiates offering the ship to them as an offering for Queen Elphame to give them permission to travel in the Elphame territory. At that point, the ship is pulled into the docks and Camelot citizens are ushered out for the fae traders to take over the ship. C ⦿ Beach Episode
![]()
Just because people are tired doesn't mean that the world stops for them... crime certainly doesn't. Throughout the start of the month, people are going missing. Exactly what's happening.. well, finding the truth out about that is going to depend on your perspective.
"Let's see.. You two, you'll be the first fight of the night. Winner gets dinner, gyahaha!" It's a fighting ring. You've been kidnapped into a fighting ring and there's no obvious escape! Fight against fellow captives and monsters for your dinner and to buy time to figure out what you're going to do... At least you start hand to hand, so there's nothing lethal... right? (See Audience for more details.) B ⦿ Audacious Audience
C ⦿ Roaring Rescuers
Follow all the leads, and you'll find yourself at an outlying, smaller-scale castle with a dungeon tower and an underground fighting ring built beneath its floors. Sneak in and unlock individual fighter dungeon doors while the fights are providing a wealth of distraction. Maybe you'll find a grateful Fogueria who casts a temporary fire-immunity spell on you to allow you to do ride them into battle to bust up the fight going on right now. There's definitely gratitude going on, regardless of moral compass, and you may find gifts of food and drink (non-alcoholic if you're not old enough) placed at your door over the next week for your deeds. MOD NOTES: • All test drive prompts are open to anyone in the game at any time to create your own logs with, but this post should have top-levels by potential new characters only. Current characters may reply to any threads, but should not top-level comment on this post. • If your application is accepted, you may accept TDM threads as game canon as long as both players consent. Characters may begin threading as soon as their journal is accepted to the communities. • We are testing out formats for key points displays, to be voted on for player preference based on what seems to work best for the most people. The other options were used here (end of post summary format) and here (start of post preview format). The format featured on this post is the last option, which will provide small summaries under the banner of each prompt set. A poll will be put up before the next event to see which format will be used going forward, so please keep in the back of your mind which seems most comfortable/makes the content more easily accessible. •If nothing here tickles your fancy, try one of this month's Quests for your TDM prompt. • The first "Arrival" prompts are present on every TDM, but contain seasonal tweaks for flavor. All other prompts will change monthly. • Questions about this TDM's content? Comment here! If you have a question about the game at-large, please head over to the FAQ. |

Troy Dantes | OC | Dark, Siphon + Philippine Eagle
[ Arriving was a breeze for him after the initial shock has waned. He listened carefully and followed the rules. Though he's here with his power armor, it's rendered kind of useless other than a elaborately designed full-plate armor from the future. It's nothing he can't handle though, so he's taking this sudden change of scenery with ease as he takes to the mini-bar for some refreshments. He finds himself distracted by the choices, humming with approval with some of them as he pours himself a pint of beer. He turns his head at whoever happens to be joining him, giving them an upward nod a smile ]
Hey, you want a sip or you're just looking for the rest room? Looks like they got a self-service thing going on with the bar. But if you want a buzz, might as well get something you'd like. I can fix you up something.
[ He's no bartender, but seeing he's doing quite well for himself with his world-hopping experience, he figured to use his powers for good and help others adjust or cope with their situation ]
Beach Episode
[ Getting magic'd up some swim trunks was a bit weird, but who was he to complain? He showed no shyness as he struts around the beach and meeting new people. His eagle familiar lands down near him, flapping it's large wings before folding it to rest near the stack of full of wooden bats and watermelons, and he took one of the bats and start swinging them for fun, testing the weight and balance of it. ]
Wanna bet that I can smash that watermelon mid-air?
Roaring Rescuers
[ Once he heard of kidnappings, Troy was quick to plunge himself into danger to save others. Maybe he'll actually find a good use for his armor. So he went to the bar with an ally - your character - to start gathering information. It was easier than he thought, so he can't help but be cautious. So now they're finding themselves closer to where the captives are held. A small castle with a tower, with guards no doubt patrolling the premises. This feels more like his wheelhouse, so Troy couldn't help but seem hyped up in getting to kick some ass despite his stoic calm expression.
Once there, it was like business as usual. He managed to sneak in and get to the dungeons where the captives were kept. Whether you're there with him or one of the captives, a voice calls from the shadows to unlocks one of the cages. ]
Hey, relax. I'm Troy, and we're here to help.
[ He says quietly, saying his name to help build some trust while unlocking the cage. Then a sound above gets him looking over his shoulder. He hushes to everyone to stay silent as one of the guards arrive. The light of their torch and the sound of their boot steps growing brighter the closer they got, prompting Troy to hide behind a corner with his knife. Waiting for the right time, he muffled the guard's mouth and ends them precisely with a knife to their throat. ]
Let's get you all out of here. We only got about 10 minutes before they figure out what's going on.
Wildcard
[ Got any ideas that's not included here? Let me know! I'm open to plotting. ]
Beach
Sure. I'll take that bet.
[The half of his face visible is confidently smiling, because nowhere in that bet did it specify a lack of interference from another party. It's dirty play, but if there were any real stakes behind it he wouldn't do it. This is all in good fun, right?]
no subject
[ He isn't worried about practical jokes or anything, being an easy-going man. So he picked up on of the watermelons and tossed it in the air waiting for it to fall so he can strike it with the bat. Assuming a stance, his hands gripped the handle and prepares to swing once the fruit had reached a certain height upon falling...]
no subject
I think I won the bet.
[Playful, but not malicious, his tone belongs to someone who thinks the other person will laugh too.]
ROARING RESCUERS
[In fact, aside from a few scuffles, of which Darin seemed to breeze through without even drawing the weapon at his back, this was all smooth sailing.]
I gotta say, you really seem to know your way around an infiltration. Lemme guess; you a merc?
no subject
[ He says while taking the keys from the guard and freeing more prisoners, passing the keys along to someone else to keep unlocking more cages before telling the most experienced-looking fighter from the collection of prisoners. ]
We've already cleared an armory to your right down that hallway, in there is an exit leading to the treeline about 30 yards out. Go.
[ He gestures with his arm, pointing at the general directions that the captives need to go to arm themselves. Despite the initial opposition to the idea, there are sick and injured people from the captives so the wiser move seem to be get them some medical attention asap. Troy looks to Darin. ]
You and me, we'll keep on going. There's still two people left and they're the main event going on right now.
[ He wastes no time, cocking his head towards the opposite direction to bravely lead the way. It was only then did he brandish his longer, machete-length sword with a unique forward curve, to go in tandem with his knife on his left hand. ]
You got a way to hit from a distance?
no subject
[He shakes himself out of his thoughts and gauges the distance.]
...Nothing that wouldn't draw a lot of attention. Unfortunately, I have healing and blood magic...neither of which make me much of a ranged fighter...
roaring rescuers
the sound of the door unlocking rouses him from a state of light dozing and sets him immediately on edge thanks to a lifetime of military training. that would certainly justify being told to relax although it's not going to happen; ledo can't relax by the standards of the average person even when he's not trying to escape from a dungeon. ]
What is the tactical situation? Do you know how many guards may be encountered? All of them will need to be silenced before they can raise an alarm or this will likely become exponentially more difficult.
[ which is to say he really hopes the rest will be handled as efficiently as the first; too many people in camelot are soft by the standards he's used to. and not that he would hold things up to ask his questions, perfectly prepared to do so on the move. ]
no subject
Castle of this size, plus the amount of resistance I met on the way here, my estimate would be 300 strong. But the lot of them are upstairs watching the main event go down.
[ Troy didn't linger standing too long, always ready to go as he guides the prisoners out of the place and instructs them to arm themselves by showing them the path to the armory where their weapons are kept along with others used by the bandits. While the captives eagerly head toward that direction, Troy unsheathes his machete with a unique forward curve to go with his knife on his other hand, committed to fighting hundred or so men. ]
There's a treeline about 30 yards outside of the armory doors. You should go with them.
no subject
[ that surprises him mostly because he's seen little of the actual operation itself for obvious reasons other than the spectators. ]
Knowing this, why should I go and flee with the others? Even if they are merely human or, at worst, faeries, those are still potentially unfavourable odds...
[ especially for someone with... blades? not that he's saying as much — although he probably gives the knife and the machete a sceptical look — but it's what he's thinking. they're just so primitive compared to what he's used to.
he looks in the direction the others are heading, ]
Once I have armed myself again, I can assist.
a filipino oc!? yes good 😍 caravan!
With a smile, she props herself against the minibar with a hand, taking a look over the small selection and pretending to mull over her decision.]
Let's go with... Something hard.
[Let's see what you're made of, Troy! She definitely needs it.]
There's a lot more where that came from, too!
[ He grins with a slight nod, acknowledging and respecting her choice for a strong drink. He opts for something simple and something familiar... He takes some whisky, and some beers with a couple of shot glasses and a couple of pint glasses ]
Not exactly the hardest of drinks, but still enough to knock you on your ass... It's more about personal nostalgia with this choice though.
[ He fills each pint glass with a bottle's worth of beer each, and filled both shot glasses with whisky, putting two shots of it in each pint of beer. One shot he poured down, and the other shot he dropped the glass into the beer to create a layer of foam. Mostly for fun. He takes his pint and slides Tifa her's, raising his slightly while leaning against the counter]
After a hard day's work. This is me and the fellas back home like to sip on. Comforting but not too much. They still wake up the next day feelin' like they got kicked by a horse.
[ It's certainly still a strong drink, especially with the two shots of whisky. But the cool beer makes it refreshing. ]
no subject
She watches him whip up the drinks, listening with an air of fondness at his explanation. It reminds her of what people would tell her back at Seventh Heaven—about why they liked to go there so often. After a hard day's work, people just wanted to relax with their friends, so this hits a little closer to home than he might expect.
Of course, those days are over, but that doesn't mean she can't still enjoy a good drink. So, when she accepts it, she clinks it against his raised glass before going for her first refreshing sip. Foam coats her top lip, but she wipes it away with a giggle.]
Not bad. [It's really good, actually.] Sounds like the fellas have a hard time holding their liquor!
no subject
[ Bluntly said with a hint of laughter, he then takes a big swig of the drink, finishing the entire thing in one gulp. The shot glass inside the pint slides and bumps his nose, leaving a bit of foam on the tip of it. Like Tifa, he wipes the foam off with a chuckle, putting his glass down the counter with a gentle slam. ]
Now that this place has taken my powers away, I might actually suck at holding my drinks like they do. Back home, I was unable to get drunk, so they kept trying to figure out what cocktail would finally do the trick to get me to feel tipsy. At least I got a demonstration on how to prepare some drinks from all those times they brought me to the bar.
no subject
[She's not even sure that the best SOLDIERs could hold their liquor that well. Not that they ever wandered into her bar, but she wonders about that now. Could she have gotten Sephiroth drunk if she tried? Huh!
Tifa halts her train of thought, grounding herself again with a sip of her drink, this one bigger than the first.]
Most people don't drink for the taste...
Beach
[To Troy - but without even turning around to look at the man:] Anyone can do that, it only counts if you do it while blindfolded!
