SUMMARY: New arrivals drop into the lake and have to climb up a cliff to the Rent a Ride, where they are given their device and some headphones and can retrieve their personal materials. They travel to Camelot, which is a multiple day journey, so they stop at the Red Springs along the way and stay at an inn there.

A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
    KERPLUNK, SPLASH!

Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's still chilly, but not enough that you can't manage on your own. The Lady of the Lake is swimming around under the water, helping to rescue any wayward travelers who look like they're struggling in the water. This month's helpers are giant pillow jellies, a species of jellyfish that is capable of ballooning itself at the surface to create bouncy pads for characters to hop across to the shore, should they choose or not be able to swim. They come in a variety of bioluminescent colors, but do not seem to be very talkative even to animal magic users. Those who try may find themselves being ignored, even if they hear the jellies talking amongst themselves about this and that.

If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. (Though.. given how hot and muggy the weather is this first week, maybe you might want to ask him to toss you right back into the lake where the waters are still cool.)

*Reminder: Your character's familiar may or may not be with your character in their initial plunge. If the familiar isn't partial to water, it may meet your character on the beach or sit atop their head while they swim. Or if they are, they might splash about and swim alongside your character. Familiars have different personalities and body specs and we leave those up to the players.

B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
Once everyone is wrangled up to the top of the White Cliffs, the handsome owner of the Rent-a-Ride, Archimedes, will distribute smart phones and a pair of ear buds (the supplier was out of the regular ones) and tell them to "Check the Shit Box." The "Shit Box" refers to wardrobe more formally known as the Wardrobe of Finding, a hammerspace-like wardrobe that opens to each person's items and pets when the person touches the handle. It was recently enchanted by Merlin to prevent people from having to fish their waterlogged possessions and pets out of the water with them. From there, Archimedes directs everyone to settle in groups into modernized carriages pulled by horses and gives them a basic explanation of why and how they've been brought to Avalon: The rest of the universe is frozen in time and your character has been brought here by a familiar that was able to bond with them. They'll have to learn magic to help save their own world from destruction, but first they've got to get them to Camelot. It is here that you have the first opportunity to decide who they will be in their new home. You'll have about an hour to wander around here, meet and greet, and pet the horses before it's time to go.

These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, [community profile] avalononline (AOL), to chat with other characters, watch dumb videos, learn about the world, contact Camelot Support (they'll answer any questions they can for you, from how to use a smart phone to where to find quests and resources to learn more about your magic). Be careful if you decide to use your phones while in the caravan-- if you don't use those earbuds and start forcing everyone to listen to your nonsense, Archimedes may make you walk.

C ⦿ The Red Spring
The journey from the White Cliffs to the City of Camelot is a long one, and the first evening you arrive you'll end up spending at the Red Spring, a booming resort town. Because of the volume of new arrivals and vacationers, inn rooms are assigned two-to-a-room. The rooms have two twin beds, a bathroom, a mini-fridge and microwave, and a TV equipped with a couple of entertaining video games and a few free movies.

If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out!

The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there.

SUMMARY: Merlin has a Plan B in case Camelot failed the trials: raise a sunken ship and offer it to the Elphame Traders on their way out in exchange for permission to travel their waters. Characters prepare for ritual magic to raise a sunken ship and travel underwater at the empty Camelot docks to gather ritual ingredients for it. After they've done all they can, Merlin sets up a little beach party with a bit of master magic for anyone who came along for the trip.

After arriving, people may have heard about recent events-- the people of Camelot voted against war and to instead accept the trials of the people of Celliwig. The trials are now concluded, and a good number of people are emotionally exhausted and taking time to recover. Word from Celliwig has not yet arrived, but across multiple social media platforms, including AOL, there are clips of Merlin's cryptic addendum to Arthur's announcement along with notes that the meeting date was delayed a couple of days due to the awful weather and a need to rest after how bleak the trials were to some people. With people down and out, it won't hurt to have the new arrivals pitch in and learn a thing or two.

"Lucky me, we've got a decent group. Celliwig's out of our hands now, but what isn't is a back-up plan. Vote was close enough I figured we'd have enough people to get a head start. Celliwig is closer and much less dangerous to deal with, we'd be able to communicate much faster with the faeries' queendom. They're not big on internet. Big followers of the Old Ways. T-L-D-R, we can't just text the queen and ask if drop-bys are on the table. We'd never make it past the leviathans without permission, so here's the plan: There is a... fixer-upper of a vessel sunken about a hundred yards from shore tossed out from Bermuda. We tried to build docks here forever ago, but you can guess the Bermuda triangle spitting out stuff in the lake all the time didn't go great. We just keep it up for visitors now, but there's plenty to explore in the immediate area that we can magic back into business."

    A ⦿ Shipwreckers
He goes on to explain that the fairies value items that were once lost and refound, so step one is exploring the shipwreck with fellow magic users to find what amounts to a scavenger hunt list of items from the ship. He sets everyone off with a quick spell that essentially transforms their clothing into swimsuits that best fit their preferences and personality-- that means no one's going to get a swimsuit that makes them horribly uncomfortable, he's not harassing anyone. After that, magicians will be directed to use their magic to get down to the ship. It's not as convenient as underwater breathing and not as easily sustainable, but there's definitely different ways to go about it. Light magic users will find they can create a forcefield above the surface of the water and go under the water, though they may run out of oxygen quickly. Elemental users can find they can create a similar bubble by pushing water out of the way, though may run into the same diminishing air without a more advanced elemental user already in the game who can pull oxygen out of the water or an alchemist who can create chemical reactions to generate oxygen. Animal mages may be able to convince local lake life to help push bubbles along, and healers will be instrumental in healing oxygen deprivation if anyone stays under too long! (Note: If two characters can't create a bubble, you can put in a third NPC to do the bubble while your characters handle other roles during the search.)

No matter what, make sure you bring someone who can watch your back. Rumors have it that the Fuath are harassing anything that comes near the area. Fuath are intangible spirits that may present as giant humanoids at about 8-9 feet each, but with the mane and tail of a yellow horse, with no noses and keen eyes. They hold grudges against anyone who takes advantage of their surroundings, even if not their own, and will come to attempt to throw those who try to take from the ships and flying through the air to land somewhere else in the water. Be very cautious about using names around the Fuath, as though they do not speak in human tongue, they have a particular ability to draw people and animals in using names that makes them very difficult to escape once you've been found. They've been known to turn familiars against their partners. They can be deterred, dissipated through attack to buy you time, but they'll keep coming so get in and out of the ship as fast as you can and definitely stick to more combat-heavy magics like dark and cognitive mages!

*Note: These magics are all examples of ways to use primary magic, but feel free to get creative with your character's magic if you think of something else!

    B ⦿ Hoist the Flags
Once all the ingredients are gathered, the ritual is underway! With the mementos from the ship, swim to a protective circle formed at the top of the water by Merlin that will keep the Fuath out. There, you need to take whatever item you gathered from the ship and try to find someone with a similar item. This "sister" item will allow you to pull the essence of the item up from the ship. It takes a load of people to raise a whole ship, but pouring your magic into the item and chanting the spell will cause the ship to resurface and restore itself to its original state before the crash, using residual memories from all the different items on the ship. Of course, finding a partner with a matching item while swimming around could be a challenge, especially if you don't get along-- it may take a while for everyone to get on the same page.

It certainly won't clean up all the algae and kelp and wayward flopping fish, it brings the ship back to a livable state.. and a much cooler, more explorable one. Get a quick exploration of the ship and help clean up some of the lake slime before Merlin flags over the traders. Or goof around until then, and learn a sick free spell called (Recipe) Cool Firework: create a rocket firework from your fingertips. Make sure you're aiming it into the sky when you cast this spell, or Merlin will set off a Camelot totem right beneath your feet. No sinking the ship when they just got it up. The fireworks will attract the Elphame Traders, who are leaving the day after they close up shop to head back to Elphame, before the set out to leave. Merlin negotiates offering the ship to them as an offering for Queen Elphame to give them permission to travel in the Elphame territory. At that point, the ship is pulled into the docks and Camelot citizens are ushered out for the fae traders to take over the ship.

    C ⦿ Beach Episode
Once everything's said and done it.. really only took a couple of hours, so the whole group is done around 4pm. There's plenty of time left for dinner and a good time at the beach a short walk away from the docks and the sun doesn't go down until around 9pm. Before Merlin leaves everyone to themselves, he conjures up a buffet-style table with loads of fresh food and drink, watermelons and bats for smashing. The swimsuits provided earlier wear off at midnight, though you'll probably want to leave before then since it still gets chilly in the evening, especially if you're all wet from playing with the chest full of waterguns or the beach balls distributed around the beach. The docks are nearby, so feel free to call your friends over to come hang out with you, even if they didn't help. It's a beach party, enjoy it!

SUMMARY: Unseelie faeries and unseemly humans have teamed up to kidnap a small number of otherworlders in the chaos of the trials to fight in an underground fight ring. Play as a victim or be part of the squad to put an end to it if you're more good-leaning, or villains can choose to participate as audience and pay for "gifts" to be given to their favorite fighters during matches.
CW: These prompts contain kidnapping, illegal and forced fighting, and inhumane treatment of fighters.

Just because people are tired doesn't mean that the world stops for them... crime certainly doesn't. Throughout the start of the month, people are going missing. Exactly what's happening.. well, finding the truth out about that is going to depend on your perspective.

    A ⦿ Cursed Kidnapees
Kidnapping victims will find themselves suddenly blinded by a spell, and then chloroformed by a floating cloth pressed against their face. (Smart kidnappers don't touch their victims if they have magic, you know!) When they wake up, they'll find themselves in a dungeon with at least a dozen other people. There's definitely not room to lay down, and sitting down as you had been propped up immediately starts you with a potentially uncomfortable view. Don't worry, someone's peeks in from a window at the top of the room-- an extremely handsome-looking man with long, wavy hair and pupils slitted like a cat's.

"Let's see.. You two, you'll be the first fight of the night. Winner gets dinner, gyahaha!"

It's a fighting ring. You've been kidnapped into a fighting ring and there's no obvious escape! Fight against fellow captives and monsters for your dinner and to buy time to figure out what you're going to do... At least you start hand to hand, so there's nothing lethal... right? (See Audience for more details.)

    B ⦿ Audacious Audience
Maybe you're a less scrupulous sort and saw an invitation to this event hidden on the dark web, or got invited by a particularly sketchy friend. Either way, you've got cage-side seats close enough to chat with either fellow audience members or interact with the cage fighters. As a bonus point, audience members can spend some of their G on betting or on purchasing "boons" for their favorite fighters, such as weapons or enhancement spells. They can also bid against other audience members for special sabotages that make it harder to fight-- foot weights, strange masks, roller skates, hinderance hexes.. get creative with it! It's the biggest fight show that you can interact with your wallet... newbies may find it's a very lucrative way to make a pretty penny very fast. (As always, remember to communicate with anyone you're helping/sabotaging so you don't go past anyone's OOC comfort level.)

    C ⦿ Roaring Rescuers
Thankfully, the fae who want nothing more than to sow discord and the greedy humans who joined in their venture are a bit disorganized. Even the beginning-level heroes among us will be able to track them down and topple them with a little bar hopping to gather information from the locals. Eventually, one of them will give up having overheard some "scary looking fellows" talking about which of the patrons of the bar looked like they'd be good in a fight before getting extra hush-hush.

Follow all the leads, and you'll find yourself at an outlying, smaller-scale castle with a dungeon tower and an underground fighting ring built beneath its floors. Sneak in and unlock individual fighter dungeon doors while the fights are providing a wealth of distraction. Maybe you'll find a grateful Fogueria who casts a temporary fire-immunity spell on you to allow you to do ride them into battle to bust up the fight going on right now. There's definitely gratitude going on, regardless of moral compass, and you may find gifts of food and drink (non-alcoholic if you're not old enough) placed at your door over the next week for your deeds.

MOD NOTES:
• All test drive prompts are open to anyone in the game at any time to create your own logs with, but this post should have top-levels by potential new characters only. Current characters may reply to any threads, but should not top-level comment on this post.
• If your application is accepted, you may accept TDM threads as game canon as long as both players consent. Characters may begin threading as soon as their journal is accepted to the communities.
• We are testing out formats for key points displays, to be voted on for player preference based on what seems to work best for the most people. The other options were used here (end of post summary format) and here (start of post preview format). The format featured on this post is the last option, which will provide small summaries under the banner of each prompt set. A poll will be put up before the next event to see which format will be used going forward, so please keep in the back of your mind which seems most comfortable/makes the content more easily accessible.
•If nothing here tickles your fancy, try one of this month's Quests for your TDM prompt.
• The first "Arrival" prompts are present on every TDM, but contain seasonal tweaks for flavor. All other prompts will change monthly.

yankiisuwari: (Longing for Autumn)

Juza Hyodo | A3! | cognitive?? secondary and familiar undecided

[personal profile] yankiisuwari 2021-06-01 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
1a. Arrival / 1b. Caravan
[ Juza lands somewhere right in the middle of the bay, so any way out is far to swim. That’s what he does, though, at least he’s good at it—it’d be a waste if not, just by that muscular stature of his. Still, even once he’s made it to the shore it doesn’t seem like he’s about to show off those abs his shirt clings to, or those broad shoulders underneath the dripping wet jacket, or… no, it doesn’t look like this guy is about to complain about having been dipped and drench, or like he’ll do anything about it, either. He’s gonna catch a cold like this…

--

After making his way up to the Rent-a-Ride and settling into one of the carriages—there’s a free seat next to him even as the ride takes off, it’s probably to do with his frowny face, as always—Juza tries to roll with his confusion about this place. He hits up AOL. The tip of hitting up Camelot Support seemed helpful enough that he wants to try it.

He dropped the headphones, getting into the carriage… Whether it’s about him, or Archimedes being in a mood, that’s how Juza ends up walking, instead. There’s not really a way to tell whether his expression is related to that circumstance or also just how he is. The other thing about it is… he’s still soaked??? He hasn’t changed his clothes, or died off, done anything like that. He’ll definitely catch a cold like this. ]

1c. Red Spring
[ Juza has probably avoided getting sick. The spring water’s nice and hot, and it’s not cramped at all. Yeah, his face is about the same, even while taking a relaxing bath, and just dare to take a seat next to him…! Ah, actually, he doesn’t mind.

A drink would be nice. He wonders about that. ]
Hey— [ If you haven’t spoken up yet, he will. Though, just like his face, Juza’s voice is sullen, a bit intimidating. No need to just dart off, anyway… ]

3a–c. CW: The fighting one
[ He's built for fighting— looks built for it, anyway. So, getting dragged into it, Juza finds himself in the arena, squaring up like it's anyone's "Oi, you—!" out on the street. For now he'll clench his teeth, but if there's a punch thrown at him, he'll start fighting back. With whatever he gets.

--

Playing along doesn't mean resignation. A few fights in, a little sore, a little bruised, he's still standing. However it started out, there are mixed emotions in the bleachers: some cheer on that lone fighter holding out, others are booing– hasn't he had enough!? It's high time someone gets in here to break this up.

? Wildcard ...and
the beach stuff sounds fun, but I couldn't come up with anything for it. I'm game, though.
keybearing: (I will dare)

Sora l Kingdom Hearts

[personal profile] keybearing 2021-06-01 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: waffling on eeeeearly like post KH canon point or going with after Dream Drop. Latest would be III with prob hm..when he leaves to go to the Realm of Darkness to help Riku. Still waffling in regards to his Magic/Familiar yet. Feel free to pm or poke me on Plurk over @ [plurk.com profile] caprican if you want.]

Arrival:

[Sora isn't so unused to falling. To water, at least. He just isn't necessarily expecting it, but easily enough swims his way back to shore, glancing and seeing the others heading to the cliff and all. He makes some futile attempt in figuring wringing out his clothes to sort of get them drier at least. And at least tries to figure running his fingers through his hair a bit in getting the worst of the damp to stop it dripping and attempting to sort of tame it some.]

I guess that isn't as bad as getting up the North Mountain.

[He says with a shrug, glancing around almost expectantly in seeing if there were any familiar faces, before following the rest and somehow managing to make it up the cliff. He is at least used to heat, being an Islander boy and all.]

Caravan:

[Sora is of course mostly distracted in finding Meow Wow at the caravan when he is told to check for his things and the like. He coos at the oversized colourful.....cat...thing? That bounces and leaps at Sora, making him giggle and laugh when that tongue licks at his cheek and he falls back to the ground. Thus he can be found petting and reassuring his Dream Eater from home and happily introducing his very friendly companion to anyone that might.....ask about the odd looking creature.

He is at least kind of? Vaguely familiar with phones by now thanks to Chip and Dale's Gummiphone? He tries to figure if there were differences though and he really just knows the very very bare basics in how to use this sort of thing. Given he didn't pay the most attention technology wise in spending so much time back home playing, sparring with Riku, exploring outside or swimming or such. So he might also be found testing out the phone, possibly not using the ear buds in not yet having figured those. Oops?]

Hm. At least this seems simple enough. I knew Magic back home, so...I guess I just gotta figure it here too. And this thing seems similar enough to the Gummiphone. I think....

Shipwreckers:

Finding stuff in a shipwreck? Sure. That seems simple enough.

[Ariel would love this, he thinks, if she were around. Still, he doesn't seem that surprised with the magic changing his outfit. Probably because he's used to the fairies doing it and all. His swim shorts are red and blue, with a little yellow in the design and patterned with a single silver crown motif at the front.

He's an agile and fast, experienced swimmer, given growing up on the Islands and all. And he is quick enough to figure a way to manipulate his magic to make him able to breathe, even if he might mutter something about this being less fun without Donald around and how he misses Atlantica.

If he sees a Fuarth going after someone, he'll quickly swim over, attempting to get between them. Using his feet to kick at the creature while yelling for the other to flee. To get going!]

Beach Party:

[Sora will absolutely be chowing down on lots of watermelon. And having fun chasing after anyone else with a water gun as well in assuming they were keen to play. It's just harmless fun, just water and they were already wet from swimming earlier anyway? He's basically in his element in being raised on the Islands and all. This is totally his scene with the sand and the waves and all.]

Fights:

[Sora is definitely more used to having a weapon. And his magic. He's not keen to do more than simply defend himself when forced into the fight, and that's if the other opponent makes a move against him at all. He's more keen on figuring a way out if possible. Somehow. They were dragged here, there has to be some way in and out.

Though any potential sabotages as a result still might frustrate him to deal with. It doesn't make him any more willing to fight unless he absolutely has to and even then he's probably not aiming to actually hurt the other if he himself makes any sort of move.]
juzubeads: (And touch)

Kyo Sohma l Fruits Basket (Blood/Animal Magic definitely. Undecided for Familiar?)

[personal profile] juzubeads 2021-06-01 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Arrival:

[Kyo....is a cat. He doesn't necessarily like water. Not excessively like this at least. So needless to say he rather scrambles in getting out at least mostly dry as best he can with the help of the jellies. He's too bewildered and distracted to really follow that he can apparently somehow understand the creatures, as he wrings out his shirt or at least attempts to, along with his mop of dripping red hair, checking his beads at at his wrist in the process from the fall and all.

He glances around, noting the crowd heading to the cliffs where that lady had said to go. He sighs in seeing it but isn't unused to dealing with mountains and such given his time out there back home in the aftermath of his trauma prior to Tohru showing up at Shigure's and all.]

Tch. The hell is this anyway?!

Caravans:

.....a familiar? What, like witches and their cats or something? Let me guess. It's probably some sort of cat.....

[Kyo and his Life. At least. That is exactly what he expects to happen. To find when he discovers what his Familiar is exactly. Because his whole life has been him dealing with being the Cat, being left out of the Zodiac group and shunned because of it but still being part of that group by association because of his part in the Curse. In giving them someone to hate and look down on and feel better about themselves that at least they weren't him. The Cat.

He. Doesn't seem too enthused about all this. At All.]

Red Springs:

Alright. Let's try this out.....

[Of course with Animal Magic being his main magic he is picking up on that easier. So it's much more likely for someone to come across him at the training grounds and find him.....as a cat. A small ginger one the same colour as his hair, if anyone saw him around initially upon arrival. He will also still be wearing that familiar set of red and white beads too, as a marker that he isn't some stray or anything, at least. He's still figuring it out so it might take a bit for him to get to changing himself back out of cat form.

Or perhaps, one might find him finding out he has Blood Magic in attempting to figure what else he could do. And that. Doesn't seem to be sitting well with him. At all. He's rather spooked and unsure what to make of it if he does manage to say. Create something of a blade from his blood. He glances down at it, pale as he stares at his beads in horror.]

Beach:

[He....probably wasn't the most keen on helping out with the ship and all. He isn't the most enthusiastic about water, being the cat and all. Still, he seems game enough to join in the party afterwards. The watermelon and bats bringing something of a soft, fond expression to his features as he remembers Tohru with those at the beach house over summer back home. He'll happily bat a beachball back over if someone knocks it towards him at least. But he won't respond so kindly if someone sprays him with the water guns. Notably by yelling at them and resulting in his cat ears appearing from the unexpected surprise.]

Kidnapping:

[Kyo knows martial arts. Can figure hand to hand easily with years of training and all since he met Shishou back then. He's just also....not necessarily so gung ho on fighting someone else in the same predicament in not exactly being here willingly. Or that he is aware if the other even knows how to fight for that matter.

So he isn't exactly rushing to start anything.]

Normally I'd be thrilled to spar and get in some practice but this just feels. Wrong.

[He's probably at least initially only going to do the minimum in attempting to defend himself if the other tries to go against him.]

[ooc: as far as canon points go. Debating between either around season two where he admits/realizes he has caught Feels for a certain someone (he is the Least Subtle) or earlier on around volume six with the True Form reveal. I have no idea on a Familiar yet but I am def going with Blood and Animal Magic for him if I choose to go with him over Sora (or someone else idk) as a potential second.]
auriphrygiate: (vaguely annoyed in your direction)

Traejan Lightrend | World of Warcraft (OC) | Dark / Death + Undead Crypt Lord (Familiar)

[personal profile] auriphrygiate 2021-06-01 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
↳ { i. safety not guaranteed; }
[ cw: death (specifically, a dead bird), necromancy, insects and insect-like things ]

[ one of the magic teachers keeps eyeing the over six-and-a-half feet of fully armed and armoured elf (not including his long, mobile ears) sitting on a rock near the training grounds from a short distance away, but that's understandable. he makes people nervous on purpose. at his side stands a skeleton as tall as he is wearing a horned helm with various other pieces of armour grafted right to its bones. its bones are also engraved up and down with glowing blue runes, although since coming to avalon the glow is purely cosmetic. the same can be said of the identical runes engraved in the metal of traejan's left arm because — oh yeah, his entire left arm has been replaced with a mechanical one. one of two cruel-looking one-handed blades is leaned up against the rock, the second laid across his knees. on his other side, opposite the skeleton, is an insect-like creature that makes a series of clicking sounds. ]

Yes, I'm assuming if they want us to use magic, they can't also be picky...

[ meaning he fully intends to keep on doing what he's doing and figure out if it's illegal or at least a taboo later. what currently has his attention is the corpse of a crow that's laid out on the ground in front of him. focused, he holds the blade out, the point aimed at the bird. the metal of the sword isn't attuned to the magic of this world as it is to the magic in his own world, but the power doesn't work the same way anyway. hence the practise session. it's mostly a mental thing until he can get used to how it feels around here, the runes on the weapon flickering weakly as he channels the spell through it, but ultimately they go dark again as soon as he's not.

the bird starts twitching in fits and starts until finally, it gets up struggling with jerky, stiff movements to find its feet, and when it does, it's still not quite steady, but it's alive. you know... more or less. traejan eyes the crow critically, pulling the odd goggles he's wearing down to hang around his neck and crunches something between his teeth that sounds like hard candy. ]

It's a bit pathetic, isn't it?

[ apparently who he's talking to is the bug creature, which makes more clicking noises in return that he can apparently understand as language as he gives the thing a vaguely irritated look and answers it. ]

...That was a rhetorical question.

[ get it? 'cause he's dead. traejan only appears once everything's wrapped up as far as the ship business goes because he's had about enough water just in coming to this world. but he will never refuse free food, which is why he's partaking in the buffet arrangement.

he doesn't much object to the swimsuit spell, although the black shorts he's wearing are pretty form-fitting and small. they also have no pockets, so he's just tucked his phone in between the waistband and his hip. and is that a little skull pattern in gold? it sure is. like this, there's nothing at all to hide the long scar that runs from beneath his right ear diagonally to his left hip. it stands out boldly against his skin thanks to the thick, cable-like stitching that runs the length of it. that possibly explains his skin's grey undertone since that doesn't seem like a very healthy sort of pallor. the runes etched into the metal of his left arm are repeated elsewhere as well, running in vertical lines down each limb as well as down his spine. there's plenty of other scars and such as well, but nothing else significant enough to stand out on its own; a lot is going on as-is.

he looks over at whoever's in line next to him, serving tongs in hand as he's picking through pieces of meat to add to what's already on his plate (guess what: more meat) and finding the selection of cuts for this particular dish leave something to be desired. ]

I see human mages in this world can't manage to conjure food that isn't ridiculously overcooked any better than they can in Azeroth. Here—...

[ whether you were planning on it or not, congratulations! there's now a sizeable chunk of saucy meat in the middle of your plate. not that it looks overcooked at all; mostly it looks like a perfectly normal bit of beef, cooked to about medium-rare. ]

[ cw: the same as the fighting ring prompts ]

[ traejan looks right at home sprawled out in his cage-side seat, drink in hand as he watches the fights and places bets. he couldn't be happier to find something like this going on, having wanted an easy way to make some money as soon as possible because there is no way he can exist in any world and be poor. are you kidding?

he's got a good eye for this sort of thing, almost like he's done it before, sizing up the different fighters during the hand-to-hand combat rounds. he's definitely playing to win, not above sending weapons and enhancements to the fighters that obviously have the most experience even if they don't really need any help to crush the more inexperienced combatants. overkill doesn't matter as much as the winnings.

and for those who are hesitant and perhaps aren't too keen on actually hurting their opponent, he has a little... encouragement? ]

You realise this is a blood sport, don't you? That means at least one of you should be bleeding already! I'll pay whichever one of you draws first blood myself if it'll make this more interesting...

Eclair | OC | Healing, Technopathy + Polar Bear Cub

[personal profile] ceraunos 2021-06-01 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Caravan
[ Eclair's arrival was a big shock to her entire being. Suddenly she felt different. Whatever mechanical strength she bore as an android is gone, she felt human for once despite her body remaining the same Accelon frame it was. Even the revelation being poured into her weary mind was not as great of a shock as it was, even though she's following just fine. She sat on the caravan, with her polar bear cub as a familiar nibbling at her wrist. Eclair wears a weak smile, letting her smartphone fall from her hands and on to the floor ]

Power at 1% capacity... Got to... recharge...

[ She mutters, nodding off and letting gravity draw her head sideways - right on your character's shoulder! ]

Red Spring
[ Her clingy familiar follows her around, giving Eclair a much needed emotional boost. She's feeling herself smiling more as it leads the way eagerly, jumping and trying to turn the knob of the inn room like a curious child. Eclair enters the empty room, still unsure who she is going to share it with. She lets her familiar jump on the bed, with Eclair turning up the AC for the polar bear cub to feel comfortable. She cranks it up at the maximum amount, so anyone else who joins her would immediately feel the chill.

Later on, Eclair visits the springs and taking a dip in them like everyone else. Best to blend in and do what the Avalonians do, right? It gave her immense relief as she sank her weight into the cool water, sighing out in pleasure like a human would. She lets her familiar jump in and splash everyone with water, before swimming next to her. ]

Please be kind to others. No splashing, okay?

[ She instructs the bear like she would a child, and gives the creature a gentle scratch on their chin. The bear didn't respond but seemed to behave ]

Good.

[ After a moment, the bear clings to her and she hugs it, singing You Are My Sunshine to the baby creature. The quiet atmosphere of the spring means it's easy to hear her pleasant singing voice. It may seem silly at first glance, but Eclair shows a somber expression as she lulls the familiar to sleep. ]

Beach Episode
[ Eclair is always eager to help, so she was part of the exploration teams that searched the shipwrecks. But once that was done, she was left unsatisfied. She stood around the crowds even as they feast at the conjured up food stuffs in front of her, sticking out for being idle. She looks around, quizzically studying the faces and words around her. What does it feel like? To feel rewarded after a hard day's work. It's something she is yet to learn as an android built to serve.

Not quite comfortable with the entire place yet, the swimsuit that conjured up for her is a sundress, with a hat and jacket for good measure. ]

Please, go ahead. I'm not in line.

[ She gestures to the table when she felt someone walk near her, assuming their intent as she's got snapped out of her reverie. ]

Cattleya Veneto | OC | Elemental, Siphon + Spirit Tiger

[personal profile] heofon 2021-06-01 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrival
[ Coughing and struggling to pull herself up from the water, she claws her way towards the dry sands and catching her breath. She's suddenly drenched in sea water and covered in sand, so she's not in the best mood. But before she could rant, an imposing presence and rumbling of a large creature before her stops whatever frustration she had. A glowing, translucent tiger stands before her. It's strangely colored eyes stared into her own before it lets out a mighty roar. Cattleya's eyes widened as she pushes herself up instinctually, hands flying to the katars holstered at her legs. The tiger just stared her down, growling and turning to walk away as if to say "I'm your familiar, dumbass" ]

What just happened? Where- Ruby?

[ Cattleya asked herself as she looks around, shouting for her partner's name. Shoulders easing as her hands also slowly relax away from her weapons. It seems like she's not the only one arriving at the beach. She hopes her companion would explain to her what's going on, but she'll soon realize that Ruby isn't here with her. ]

Red Spring
[ The mention of training grounds immediately attracted Cattleya, so once she's sufficiently relaxed, she heads to the grounds to observe the others and check what the grounds have to offer. She listened intently on the safety course and gets to practicing on her own once that's done. She was given elemental magic, so she practiced under her tiger familair's watchful glare. She found ample space to do some shadowboxing, bouncing on her feet and getting on to her stance that she's perfected over countless hours of practice. Twirling her katars from their scabbard into her grip like they're a couple of handguns, Cattleya focuses her magic onto her katar blades, extending their range before unleashing a quick flurry of kicks and punches.

She may have lost her superhuman strength and speed, but her skills remain. Precise hooks and roundhouses, fluidly combining into a chain of attacks without missing a beat. She finishes with a swipe of her katars that she extended with her elemental magic, elongating their cutting range with lightning and fire. They're quick to fade, as she still has much to learn about her magic. But it left her satisfied, evident in the beaming smile on her face and the exhale that left her lips ]

Whew... That was exhilarating! Relearning magic from the beginning doesn't seem as bad as I thought. What do you think?

[ She was talking to her tiger, but she turned around the wrong way and looked to your character instead. So her face turns red and eyes widened in surprise to see her make that mistake. Her tiger just looks at her unamused. ]

Beach Episode
[ As quiet of a person she is, and lonely to not have her friends with her, Cattleya smiles at the end of the day where they all get to celebrate after working together, forming bonds that remind her of home. She stood in her swimsuit while she looks at everyone with a longing smile as she partakes in the festivities. She sees the watermelons and the bats as she takes a swig of her drink. Feeling up to the challenge, she stands up and approaches someone ]

Pardon me, but how exactly does this game work? I've never seen such an activity before so I wanted to be certain before I join in.

[personal profile] lakan 2021-06-01 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Caravan
[ Arriving was a breeze for him after the initial shock has waned. He listened carefully and followed the rules. Though he's here with his power armor, it's rendered kind of useless other than a elaborately designed full-plate armor from the future. It's nothing he can't handle though, so he's taking this sudden change of scenery with ease as he takes to the mini-bar for some refreshments. He finds himself distracted by the choices, humming with approval with some of them as he pours himself a pint of beer. He turns his head at whoever happens to be joining him, giving them an upward nod a smile ]

Hey, you want a sip or you're just looking for the rest room? Looks like they got a self-service thing going on with the bar. But if you want a buzz, might as well get something you'd like. I can fix you up something.

[ He's no bartender, but seeing he's doing quite well for himself with his world-hopping experience, he figured to use his powers for good and help others adjust or cope with their situation ]

Beach Episode
[ Getting magic'd up some swim trunks was a bit weird, but who was he to complain? He showed no shyness as he struts around the beach and meeting new people. His eagle familiar lands down near him, flapping it's large wings before folding it to rest near the stack of full of wooden bats and watermelons, and he took one of the bats and start swinging them for fun, testing the weight and balance of it. ]

Wanna bet that I can smash that watermelon mid-air?

Roaring Rescuers
[ Once he heard of kidnappings, Troy was quick to plunge himself into danger to save others. Maybe he'll actually find a good use for his armor. So he went to the bar with an ally - your character - to start gathering information. It was easier than he thought, so he can't help but be cautious. So now they're finding themselves closer to where the captives are held. A small castle with a tower, with guards no doubt patrolling the premises. This feels more like his wheelhouse, so Troy couldn't help but seem hyped up in getting to kick some ass despite his stoic calm expression.

Once there, it was like business as usual. He managed to sneak in and get to the dungeons where the captives were kept. Whether you're there with him or one of the captives, a voice calls from the shadows to unlocks one of the cages. ]

Hey, relax. I'm Troy, and we're here to help.

[ He says quietly, saying his name to help build some trust while unlocking the cage. Then a sound above gets him looking over his shoulder. He hushes to everyone to stay silent as one of the guards arrive. The light of their torch and the sound of their boot steps growing brighter the closer they got, prompting Troy to hide behind a corner with his knife. Waiting for the right time, he muffled the guard's mouth and ends them precisely with a knife to their throat. ]

Let's get you all out of here. We only got about 10 minutes before they figure out what's going on.

a. you can take a breath now [red spring]

Well, that had definitely been a way to make an entrance! After all the rigmarole of crashing into the water and finding her way here, Two looks around her inn room and she's smiling the whole time. There's definitely some things here that she isn't familiar with, but already her mind is buzzing with ways she can use them to improve her cooking. Her sword is propped up on the wall near her bed, point barely avoiding digging into the floor, and the loose ball of lights that she recognizes as a faerie from the Land of Forests is flitting around curiously, though much more quietly than she'd heard those faeries can be. Two straightens her back after looking into the mini-fridge and turns around to face her roommate. "Have you ever seen anything like this before?" she asks with a smile on her face. "How do they keep getting the ice in there to keep it cool?"

Of course, if her roommate's not around, then she's almost definitely at the training grounds, looking disappointed but feeling a little relieved inside when she goes to punch one of the targets and nothing happens to it. It's almost like... well, okay, no, she'll figure that one out later. On her way back from close-quarters combat with a target that was definitely not designed or intended for close-quarters combat, she's rubbing her fist and looking around for anyone else who might have seen her attempt. "So, um," she starts with a tinge of embarrassment in her voice, "Is there anything you're hoping you end up really good at?"

b. she could put a lion on a leash [cage fight]

Winner gets dinner. It's not really unfamiliar to her. It honestly... it feels like something one of the Lords would have put on before they were all deposed, but there's still more than enough magically sealed chambers in the middle of the Land of Sands for Two to know the concept. Fortunately, it doesn't feel like she's going to be much of a threat—after all, if she doesn't have that anymore then nobody's at risk of dying. Still, she stands up straight, cracks her neck, and assumes the kind of fighting stance that she's seen Four use when preparing for a fist fight.

"Don't worry." She sounds cheerful as she speaks loudly to her opponent, loud enough to be heard over the din of the crowd. "Even if you lose, I know how to make dinner from basically anything. You'll still get food tonight." Two, this is a cage match. Has anyone told her this is a cage match? Stop being friends with the people you're fighting in a cage match.

Arrival

[While it was a lake rather than an ocean, there had been an initial panic when Makoto landed in the water. Fear gripping his chest and freezing him in place for a heart stopping moment as he struggled to figure out what just happened now. He felt a sudden tug on his collar and he surfaced, gasped and shaking water and wet hair from his eyes. He heard a bark and saw Biscuit, who must have pulled him from the water. He didn’t deserve his dog but he was very glad he had trained him to handle the water and even learn basic rescue tips. It was the Lunatians that had done that, a few classes was all they had before going to wherever here was. He looked around, if Biscuit was here then what about Cake? What about the other dogs? JJ? He didn’t see anyone else and sighed.]

C’mon girl, let’s get to shore.

[It wasn’t too long before Makoto pulled himself from the water, he peeled off his shirt to wring it of excess water while Biscuit shook the water off her fur. It was then he heard a soft ‘meow’ and found himself looking at a bedraggled black cat clinging to what appeared to be a small floating orca. Lunatia meant he had seen a lot of weird things in the near year he had been there but this was... definitely new. He carefully reached out to pry Cake off the killer whale, who only clicked in response.]

Uh... thank you?

[He winced a little as Cake went from clinging to the orca to clinging to Makoto’s arm, nails digging in. But he let her do what she needed to calm down, instead focusing on his surroundings.]

What’s going on now?

The Red Spring

Inn Room

[Honestly, it was nice that there was a place to stay while on their journey to Camelot. It would give Makoto time to think and puzzle together what he was going to do next. Which was first going to give both Biscuit and Cake a bath, so sorry whoever his roommate is but he was going to hog the bathroom for a little bit to get his animals clean. He set his own clothes that he gave a simple rinse to hang dry over the curtain rod. Don’t worry, he’s not running around naked. His swimsuit suit had apparently followed him here so he wore that while giving his pets a bath. Sorry for the wet dog smell!]

Hot Spring

[Makoto sighed as he slipped into the soothing hot waters. This reminded him a lot of both home and Lunatia. Although he certainly hoped there weren’t any weird properties to this place, he just wanted to relax before bed. They had another journey ahead until Camelot and he wanted to be well rested! Biscuit and Cake were in his room, sleeping on his bed, so his only companion was his familiar. A small orca that floating in the air in a similar manner to swimming, although being near water meant it was now frolicking around in the steamy waters. Makoto laughed, reaching out to rest his hand on a dorsal fin.]

You’re supposed to relax in the spring, you know.

[It simply sang at him and wiggled out from under his hand to play some more. Makoto didn’t try to stop it.]

The Beach Episode

[Makoto felt a little bad joining in on the beach party when he didn’t necessarily help in the raising of the ship. But he had been invited all the same and he wasn’t going to turn down a fun party. He didn’t participate in the watermelon smashing, but he watched and cheered all the same. His plate was full of beach food, the aforementioned watermelon, BBQ foods such as hot dogs and a burger, with a couple other things here and there. Of course, it hadn’t been that long since Lunatia and he was still forgetting that his appetite was nowhere like before under the Cordis moon. He was loathed to waste food, though!]

Excuse me, looks like my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Do you want any of this?

[He offered a sheepish smile, even as Biscuit whined because she wanted the noms too!! But Makoto merely rubbed her head, no he had to see if anyone else wanted some first! Besides, she already ate.]

[ooc: Biscuit is a mix dog, Golden Retriever and German Shepherd as seen here in puppy form. She’s full grown now though. Cake is a black cat with a pink nose and pink toe beans. If you want to wildcard anything, be my guest! Or send me a PM if you want to do plot something else c:]

Soaking In Your Arrival

[Dimitri wades his way out of the water and onto the dry shore. With his jaw-length locks of hair and his fur cape all matted down from being waterlogged, he comes off looking something like a soaked lion. He shakes his head to get water out of his hair and removes his eyepatch briefly to shake it off and make sure no water is caught beneath it, then slips it back on.

Once he's gotten as much water off of him as he can manage, Dimitri takes a look around at the landscape. He sees the other people in the same predicament as him, and where people seem to be heading. Figuring that he may as well follow the pack on this one, he works his way toward the nearest staircase. As he starts, he greets the nearest person. ]

Are you all right? You didn't get hurt, did you?

Beach Episode

[As he comes from a cold land, Dimitri has no experience whatsoever with beach parties. So, he's simply standing around, trying to figure out what to do. This means we have a tall man wearing a pair of blue, knee-length swimming trunks, inadvertently showing off his muscular build, looking completely out of place. He's nigh impossible to miss as a result. At some point, he may take interest in something you're doing, and approach to ask you about it.

Eventually, though, the heat starts to get to him. He's never been very good with summer heat, again growing up in a cold kingdom. So he eventually wades his way into the water to cool off. Perhaps he runs into you amid the waves.]

Roaring Rescuers

[The news of people being kidnapped and forced to fight each other for others' entertainment outraged Dimitri the moment he first heard about it. That's why he's sneaking his way into the dungeons where the fighters are kept. He strangles a guard only enough to make him pass out, then relieves him of his keys, and uses them to unlock the cages. On at least a few occasions, though, the key doesn't work. Instead, he bends the bars with his own hands wide enough to allow the captives to get out. Are you one of the captives?

Eventually he's granted a fire immunity spell. A Fogueria allows him to climb up on its back and ride it out into the arena above, crashing the fight. Hero's Relic in hand, he lunges at the guards and any audience members who try to stop him.]

[ note--- haven't figured out magic or companion yet. orz ]

Soaking in Your Arrival

[ he doesn't have a second to react; rom is soaked and he's none too happy about that. wearing his normal rehearsal and stage outfit makes it less annoying than if he was plunged into the water with his work clothes on, but still? inconvenient and he's already pissed off.

treading water, he swims over to one of the jellies and immediately finds himself getting bounced into the air. with a surprised yelp, the myumon is bounced from jelly to jelly until he finally lands face first on the shore. tail sticking straight up, it only droops once he rolls over onto his back and takes a few breaths of air. ]

Dammit... where the hell am I?

[ and why is it so muggy? ]

Caravan to Camelot, I

[ at first he's slumped over in the caravan, but after a moment with some time with his new phone and his ear buds in (the human ones btw) he's already listening to some music that he can relax to. and by relax, rom's air drumming. it's probably the best way for him to cope in a situation like this; how many times has MIDI City been in peril from some kind of horrible darkness that requires friendship to defeat? one too many.

but he might be a little reckless once he gets into one of the more active parts--- not to mention he's not just air drumming with imaginary sticks! no, he's got a pair with him that he keeps with him at all times, even in the office. so be wary as he might try to hit a cymbal and end up almost smacking you in the head... ]

Hoist the Flags

[ rom's not bothered by the fact he has to help with the cleaning effort--- in fact, it's probably the most normal thing that's happened so far up to this point? yeah, it's on a ship and all but rom isn't new to putting a little bit of effort and some elbow grease in order to get something in shape. he's got muscles for a reason and it's not just for show; he'll just have to find ways to get them working. can't slack off just because you're in some new world--- routines are routines and missing a day would feel awful.

so, he gathers as much of the kelp as possible into his arms to the point where it makes his arms burn. he's ready to toss it off, taking slow and careful steps so that he doesn't slip. when rom's almost at the edge where he can safely unload it, maybe a few feet away, that's when disaster strikes in the form of a silent but deadly fish.

one foot on, he slides. the bundle flies up and over his head and it's all he can do but watch as it starts to descend on someone. ]

Watch out!

Beach Episode

[ again, rom's not going to go a day without working something out. the melons and the bats are a perfect way for him to, again, flex what he's worked hard to have. so raising one of the bats above his head, the man then immediately slams it down into the fruit sending copious amounts of broken rind and fruit all around him, including onto himself.

he does it again. and again, and again. just four. it's only because after the third, he realizes what kind of mess he's making and the amount of waste that might be had, too.

so with a sheepish grin, rom rubs the back of his head with his other hand. ]

Guess I should probably chill out.

[ but at least he has a lot of melon to share??? ]

car[A]van to camelot
[The last thing that 2B expected when she crash-landed back on Earth was to wake up in an entirely different place, and a world with humans, no less. As early as when she was sputtering and coughing in the lake, she wondered to herself if she'd suffered so much damage that she was now imagining things... or worse, if she'd been infected like the others. The latter theory proved to be incorrect quickly, when she was helped out of the lake while frantically calling out for 9S and her Pod.

If a YoRHa android had a bucket list, the first item on it would be to meet her creators, the humans, but now that she was surrounded by so many of them, soaked and tired just like her, 2B finds herself at a loss for words. Not that she was ever much for them in the first place, but what is she supposed to say to the species that gave her life? That she was created to protect? 9S would have a field day with this, but 2B? She'd never thought about what she would say if she ever met a human.

So instead, she's kept to herself for the most part. After being surprised at finding her belongings in this so-called "Shit Box", she's taken up a spot in one of the caravans with her Pod in her lap, laying lifeless, and her two swords—one massive and one smaller one—taking up the entirety of the seats around her.

Sorry, did you want to sit there? This strange, out-of-place looking girl is too preoccupied with mumbling to her Pod to notice anyone who might be eyeing them.]

[B]each episode
[The whole bathing suit thing has been a bit odd for 2B. Although her new one-piece closely resembles her dress, it took a while for the confusion and frustration over her new outfit to wear off. Thankfully, she's over it by the time the work on the ship's is through, so she takes the opportunity to sate her curiosity and explore whatever this man called Merlin has conjured up on the shore of the beach. Her moose familiar traipses behind her with some trouble, its legs wobbling when it's unable to keep its hooves solidly grounded in the sand, and Pod 042 hovering in the air alongside them.

It's the giant green balls that draws her attention first, but it's more so the smashing of them. 2B approaches as someone at the front of the line winds up a swing, and she stops next to whoever happens to be near the back of the line. If she didn't know any better, she'd think they were killing the poor watermelons, and in some ways, she really doesn't know better.

Her Pod is the first to speak, sensing 2B's bewilderment.]

"A watermelon is a flowering plant species of the Cucurbitacaeae family. It is a scrambling and trailing vine-like plant, originally domesticated in Africa. The pink flesh contains many seeds, and has a sweet, juicy flavour that humans are fond of."

[2B nods in understanding, then turns to ask:] So why are they breaking them?

[It makes zero sense to her??? If anything, it looks kind of stupid!! Will someone please enlighten her?]

roaring res[C]uers
[She may still be a bit shy around the humans, but no one (no one!!!) kidnaps her creators and gets away with it. The moment she'd heard whispers of where the unseelie fae and humans were keeping them, 2B didn't hesitate a beat in joining the rescue mission. With the audience and fae being kept busy upstairs watching the fights, she's dungeon crawling, opening up the dungeons where they are being held captive.

So, if you've been kidnapped...

Be prepared for a small android literally kicking in the door to your cell with the weight of 300 pounds of metal behind her heeled boot. The kick sends the entire thing flying off its hinges to hit the wall opposite her. She peers inside before stepping into view.]

ONE ⦿ soaking in your arrival
[ Of all the damn things, why did it have to be a lake? The second Juzo hit the water, he sank like a stone, only to be buoyed up by… giant jellyfish? The trip to shore is rough, Juzo’s sheer weight making it difficult to hop with any amount of grace and landing him back in the water more than once.

At last, he crawls up onto the shore, hands frantically going to his head – and yes, your eyes do not deceive you. His head is in fact a giant revolver. He flips the ammo chamber out, spinning it quickly and shaking the water from his barrel. ]

Shit, shit, shit! I’m gonna rust!

TWO ⦿ beach episode
[ There’s way too much water involved here for Juzo’s liking. No matter how much magic people flung at him, he staunchly refused to get back in the water. It’s no wonder that Merlin’s enchantment put him in a plain t-shirt and a pair of slacks because he has no intention of going swimming.

Even when the festivities start, Juzo keeps his distance from the water, preferring to watch while he puffs on a cigarette clenched between metal teeth.

He’s got a wary eye on those squirt guns especially – though given he doesn’t have eyes, it might be hard to tell. If one should get turned on him, even playfully, he’s quick to growl, ]

Don’t even think about it.

[ Otherwise, he’s just being a wallflower and trying not to blind anyone when the sun reflects off his head. Perhaps he needs some company? ]

THREE ⦿ cursed kidnapees
[ Oh, he’s really not sure if he likes this magic shit. Usually, chloroform isn’t enough to take him down, but with magic in the mix Juzo’s world went dark and he found himself somewhere rather… sketchy.

tifa lockhart | ffvii | elemental & light + dolphin

[personal profile] starshower 2021-06-01 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
🌠 i. arrival
[Where—?

The thought is cut short when Tifa realizes that she's neck-deep in water, her legs and arms wading instinctively to keep herself afloat as she tries to cough the water out from her lungs. The last thing she can recall is looking on to the world past Midgar, the city behind her, and the rain hitting her face for the first time in a long time before she was plunged into the lake.

Not what she was expecting when it started to fall.

She isn't alone, though. Through her blurred vision, she can see others caught in the same struggle of trying to keep their heads up, but just as she tries to call out to them, something beneath the surface slides between her legs to thrust her up and forward, interrupting her voice. The thin nose of a small dolphin pokes out, baring its teeth as it chirps at her.

Needless to say, she's confused, but it seems that it wants to help, so she'll ask her hundreds of questions later. Right now, she's more worried about extending a hand out to whoever's just been dropped into the lake next to her.]

Here! It's okay.

🌠 ii. beach episode
[Under any normal circumstance, Tifa might have been able to enjoy the festivities. The food and drinks look delicious, and people are having fun splashing around in the water—this is just the kind of light fun she should have been looking forward to... but having just had her world turned upside-down again, it's hard for her to do much more than quietly contemplate to herself.

She's sitting on the beach, legs out just far enough that the waves can kiss her toes when they come and go, and despite her pensive glow, she's wearing a heavy smile.

Most of her questions had been answered on the way to the Red Springs, so while those concerns have been washed away, others still linger. It's guilt that weighs on her most—she shouldn't be sitting here on the beach when the rest of them back home have so much left to do. When she still has so much left to do! None of this is her fault, and yet—

Familiar chirps jerk Tifa from those deprecating thoughts. The game of volleyball is interrupted when a dolphin leaps up from the water to knock the ball out of mid-air in Tifa's direction with its tail, and she's able to catch it just before it hits her. She rises, a laugh easing some of the tension in her shoulders, and lifts the ball over her head, her smile turning sheepish.]

My serve?

[Seems her familiar wanted to get her attention, and... well, it worked!]

🌠 iii. cursed kidnapees
[This wouldn't be the first tussle Tifa's ever been in, but it's certainly the strangest. Even being tossed around and locked away in Corneo's mansion was playground levels of fighting in comparison to this. This time, it involves not only her, but other people being brought here against their will, and that's not something she'll stand for.

She also understands the necessity for discretion when the situation calls for it. This place is no joke, so with an air of defiance in her step, she goes along with it, following the wavy-haired man up and into the ring, where the audience cheers and sneers, already placing their bets for or against her as she faces up against her first opponent: you.

Tifa may not be big or buff, but she looks capable. She's lithe, toned, and keeps herself in good shape. Her only tell of vulnerability is the way her lips press together when she briefly meets her opponent's gaze, but she maintains her hard expression as she gives the room a glance, searching for a way out.

But the bell rings, signalling that the match is about to start, and with her feet spread to center herself, she raises her fists.]

Please... [is all she says, her voice strained, before the bell rings again, and kicks off the match with... a kick.

Think fast???]

Mitsuru Kirijo | Persona 3 (Portable) | Elemental & Kinetic + Kitsune familiar

[personal profile] kirijo 2021-06-01 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
( For the canon-familiar, Mitsuru is coming in after the events of P3P's female protagonist route - a week or two after the end of the game, but well before The Answer, or P4A or anything else. )

The Caravan to Camelot

Mitsuru had a little time yet before she was due to board the carriage that would bring her to Camelot, and she was grateful for that. It gave her an opportunity to move away from the other new arrivals, to find a quiet space outside of the Rent-A-Ride and … try to process all that had happened and everything that she had been told.

It was difficult to accept. Not the existence of magic, or the mythical kingdom of Camelot being a real place -- the events of the past year had made the supernatural something relatively easy to digest for her.

She had just … expected it to be over.

After all that S.E.E.S. had endured in their quest to rid the world of Tartarus and the Dark Hour, and then to preserve the world itself from the threat of Nyx, for another threat to arise so quickly …

They might have had a few months of peace after Nyx’s defeat, but they’d only regained their memories of the past year a few days ago … the same day that they had lost Kotone.

It seemed cruel to be thrust into the middle of another fight so soon after a loss like that … to learn that the world once again hung in the balance, and that failure could mean the end of everything … but that was exactly the situation that Mitsuru had found herself in.

She had little to work with. Her rapier, her evoker, this magic that she had no idea how to wield. She lacked the resources of the Kirijo Group and, while she wasn’t alone in this task, it wasn’t clear if any of her friends had been brought here either. She certainly hadn’t seen any of the other members of S.E.E.S. up to this point …

Mitsuru was … she was angry. Angry that she couldn’t have a moment to grieve after her world had been upended. She was distraught that she might have to face this without her friends, she was --

She was pulled from her reverie by the sensation of something rubbing against her leg.
Looking down, she saw Hippolyta nuzzling against her. It seemed that she could sense Mitsuru’s discomfort … to be expected of her familiar, she supposes.

As she kneels down to pet Hippolyta’s head, a smile begins to tug at the corners of her mouth. It was a small one, still melancholic, but it was nonetheless warm and genuine. She felt a little less alone than she had a moment ago. Whether Hippolyta could sense that too or she simply appreciated the attention, both of the kitsune’s tails swished happily.

The task ahead was daunting, to be sure. Mitsuru didn’t have anything resembling a clear picture of its scope, and she certainly didn’t have a grasp on what role she would play in particular. But she had the power to help mend what was broken, and that was all she truly needed to know in order to accept this responsibility.
Whatever part she would have in setting things right, she intended to see it through to the very end.

She stayed there for a little while after reaching that resolution - enjoying the quiet, though she’d converse with anyone who approached her. Eventually though, the time came for the caravan to depart, and Mitsuru rejoined the rest of the group as they all found seats on the various carriages. She’d make no effort to stop anyone from sitting next to her, but left to her own devices she’d spend the journey preoccupied with the phone that she’d been given -- learning what she could about the world she’d found herself in and compiling resources on how to use her newfound magic.

Red Spring

After several hours on the road, the carriages rolled to a halt outside the Red Spring. The doors opened and Mitsuru disembarked with the rest of the new arrivals, stretching some of the stiffness from her limbs after the long ride. She paused momentarily, briefly reminded of her family’s estate at Yakushima as she took in the sight of the resort around her, but she didn’t linger long.

Her first stop would be her assigned room for the night something she was … a little apprehensive about, if she was being completely honest. She hadn’t shared a room with someone else outside of the school trip to Kyoto last year, and in that case her roommates had been people that she already knew.

She was probably worrying over it too much. It was entirely possible that she and her roommate would get along quite well. If not … it was a short-term arrangement. A single night. She could survive that.

Once she had found her room and taken a moment to get situated, her next order of business was to visit the training grounds.. Perhaps she would visit the springs later on, but learning the nature of her magical gifts and how to effectively utilize them was a far higher priority. So, off she went with her rapier and scabbard in one hand, and Hippolyta padding along at her heels.

Shipwreckers

Mitsuru had been quick to volunteer her assistance once she understood the situation. While she didn’t completely understand the finer points of the situation, the upside of such a mission was clear enough, and it also presented the opportunity to test her command over her magic in a practical setting.

And so here she was, standing on the dock, having magically exchanged her white halter top, black jeans, and high-heeled pumps for her swimsuit, contemplating her course of action.

Swimming down to the bottom would be an easy enough task provided that she didn’t run afoul of these ‘Fuath’ creatures, but doing so before she ran out of air was more difficult … She could create a pocket of air around her easily enough, but she’d probably expand that limited supply quickly - especially if she was forced to exert herself. She didn’t believe that she’d have enough range to create a stable channel to the surface to ensure access to fresh air, and while she could potentially pull oxygen from the water itself … that was a level of precise control that she wasn’t certain she’d achieved yet.

She looked around the docks to the others who had volunteered. If there wasn’t a readily apparent solution to this on her own, then maybe they could handle it working in concert.

Asriel Dreemur ( Undertale ) familiar undecided

[personal profile] letmewin 2021-06-02 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
( for anyone canon familiar, asriel is being taken post pacifist route )

A. Arrival:

( It's only with a quiet yell and a small splash that Asriel lands on one of the many jellyfish that seem to be keeping those who arrive afloat. Hands clutch at the jellyfish out of instinctively before he realizes that he's very suddenly have seem to have left the underground.

Even moreso than that, he was himself again. Surely, this must be some sort of strange but very real dream. He had given up on any chance of going back to normal, and going to the surface with the other monsters? Forget it. Even in his other form, he had grown tired of the life he had once lived after Frisk had found their happy ending.

He looks to the jellyfish tentatively, hesitating for a moment or so before speaking. )

H... Howdy. ( He begins quietly. ) Thank you for catching me, but do you think you could take me ashore?

( Unfortunately for Asriel, the magic ability he's been given isn't doing him any favors. The jellyfish have every intention of ignoring him. )

B. The Red Spring

( Somehow it feels... strange to share a room with someone again – at least, someone who wasn't his sibling. He's spent so much time alone, but truthfully, he's looking a little forward to having the company. Even if it's just for a night, it's definitely a nice change of pace.

Though admittedly, there's too many things in this world that seem too good to be true. His situation at home... wasn't good by any means. Is being in a place like this something he really deserves?

When his roomate enters the room, he can be seen going through the mini refrigerator, looking for any sign of chocolate or sweets that he might be able to get his hands on. Almost immediately, he shifts enough to look towards the door. He fidgets a bit and he offers a small smile. )

Are you spending the night here? It's nice to meet you.

C. Best Laid (Backup) Plan

( When the cleaning is said and done, Asriel finds himself interested in trying out the recipe given to him. Seeing fireworks is nothing new to him, sure – but, making his own? Truth be told, he's a little uncertain about trying it – it isn't exactly magic that he's used to using. He can't help but at least be a little nervous.

With a quick snap of his fingers, it feels like the fireworks light effortlessly. His eyes practically sparkle with awe, a padded hand moving to cover his mouth. )

Woah! It worked!

Amelia wil tesla Saillune | Slayers | Healing + Light (Sprite familiar maybe?)

[personal profile] standup_for_justice 2021-06-02 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Arrival: A

It is a cosmic truth that if one is from a comedy series, and one is kidnapped to another world, and the magic could take hold when one is A) sensibly dressed for adventure or B) in the sort of fancy dress that requires delicate cleaning, the magic will chose B. Murphy’s Law can be a pain in the neck.

So witness a young woman in a very fluffy princess dress being dropped into the lake, and looking somewhat the worse for wear when she is assisted by the jellyfish out of it. “That was terrible… Where is this place?”

Arrival: C
The bad news is, clothing dries slowly when things are hot and muggy, and whatever sort of magic Amelia has, it does not appear to let her summon fire to speed evaporation. The good news is, the ‘shit box’ had some of Amelia’s spare clothing, so she’s changed into her traveling clothing.

The bad news if you are Amelia’s roommate is that she’s hung her wet stuff all over the room for drying. Hope you don’t mind. You might catch her in the act…

… or you might find her in the hot spring relaxing. “Okay, this is better.” Soaking gave her time to actually think about what was going on, but she might also notice other people.

Best Laid Back-up Plans: A
Amelia had figured out she had healing magic, so she was staying near the surface and assisting there. She hadn’t figured out what other magic she could use. “Are you okay down there? Do you need help?”

Further Fights: C
Amelia has many skills; stealth is not one. Why she was invited along was probably ‘the rescue team couldn’t figure out how to get rid of her’. She was quiet enough during the infiltration and could heal anyone who couldn’t escape under their own power. But now is the time to get whoever is in the arena out, and Amelia is going to be a Big Damn Distraction… I mean Hero.

Which means she is sure as heck going to be riding in on a fire-lion with her Light magic creating extra dazzle and sparkle, to break up the current fight. “Stop in the name of Justice!”

Amelia is going to attempt a jumping dismount. While she’s acrobatic enough that she won’t hurt herself (more than bruises) on the landing, there’s still even odds she does not land on her feet.

[personal profile] replican 2021-06-02 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
a. arrival (vague spoilers for ending d)
[ Out of nothing, there's suddenly something.

That...isn't right. Before he can even so much as try to breathe, the wrongness of feeling, thinking, existing washes over him, cloying and unwelcome, after making his choice. Was it all for nothing, then? Did it even matter? Kainé, Yonah...

...Why the hell does it feel like he's drowning?

Because, as he opens his eyes, he realizes he is. He's sinking deep into dark waters, but there's light above. It only takes a moment before instinct kicks in and he tries to fight it, but it's pointless, anyway. He still can't swim worth a damn, and with his lungs burning, all he can think about is how Weiss would chide him if he were here.

Fortunately (probably) for him, one of the pillow jellies takes pity on his nearly-unconscious form, buoying him up to the surface so he can sputter for some air and blink against the harsh light of the sun.

A few minutes later, Nier has made it to shore, but is no better off for it, his heavy clothing waterlogged and hair in his face, looking like a madman as he charges up to the next closest person and asks: ]

Did you see a girl with white hair run by here?

[ There is more than one person he is asking about. He is, as ever, focused on them, not sparing another thought for himself. ]

b. the red spring
[ The inn is so...comfortable. Extravagant, really, in a way that unsettles him, not to mention the technology that is somehow futuristic and ancient all at once. The bed seems way too soft and big for sitting on or sleeping in, so instead he sits on the table, cross-legged with his blade across his knees, a stone in one hand so he can sharpen his weapon, though it hardly needs it. There's also a very large wolf curled up near the foot of the bed, tail flicking as she surveys the room.

If you happen to be assigned to his room, this is the questionable sight that greets you, though Nier at least as the tact to acknowledge his roommate with a polite nod of the head. ]

Hope you don't mind I opened the window. Better to stay aware of our surroundings.

[ It's dark outside now, and it is a phenomenon he has never before experienced in his life. It's bewildering an army of Shades hasn't descended upon them already. Living here is going to take some adjusting to. ]

c. beach episode
[ You know, after nearly drowning upon his arrival, he was really ready to be done getting into the water for awhile, but Nier is never one to turn down a request of someone in need. After helping to collect underwater mementos and raise the ship, he can allow himself a break, and procures a fishing rod from a stand on the beach to while away the rest of the evening on the shoreline.

Fishing, at least, isn't any different in this world, even if the sea life he hauls up on his rod is.

The problem is, after awhile, he really has way too many buckets of fish, even if he did want to take them home and cook them. And there's such an alarming and excessive amount of food already present — all from a little bit of magic, Weiss would have a few words to say about it, he's sure — that he doesn't see much point in cooking them over a fire right now.

Instead, he approaches nearby beachgoers, holding out a bucket of fish for them to take. ]

Here, they're fresh. Can't say how they'll taste, but I'll bet there's something good in there.

[ You're welcome???? ]

d. cursed kidnapees
[ After days of waiting for the other shoe to fall, he's almost unsurprised that this happens, though being kidnapped isn't so rattling, which is saying something. Mostly, he's frustrated that he let his guard down long enough to let someone get the jump on him, even if he's still getting used to the way magic can be used in this world.

It's somehow more insulting when they tell him to get into the ring and fight. He would have done this willingly if they only asked, and paid him a little. Though he suspects that payment isn't on the table.

That's fine — he'll just have to take it from them when he's finished knocking them around a bit.

Now in the ring and armed with a ludicrously large sword, he faces his would-be opponent, sizing them up. It'd be better to work alongside them to get out of here if they're cooperative, but if they're only here to fight, then so be it. ]

Ready when you are.

[ He always is. ]

Horus | The God of Calamity Wishes for Naught

[personal profile] hor 2021-06-02 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
A. Soaking in Your Arrival
[ Falling through the sky on its own is stranger than fiction. He's used to the wind rushing past his ears, the sharp chill of wind reddening his cheeks. But that's moving forward, up-- not down. Not falling. A sky god doesn't fall from the sky he's intended to rule. It's not a graceful landing and the annoyed look on his face as he rises up above the water says as much.

--Wait, rises up? Reaching up to push his soaked blue-tinted bangs out of his eyes, he blinks in surprise a few times as he sees the large jellyfish. Egypt has its fair share of jellies in the nearby seas, but none were as large or friendly, and it's a brief moment of confusion that allows Horus to take in the world around him, letting the jelly take him to the shore once he moves to seat himself more properly. Rests his forearm on a propped up knee, one leg over the edge of the jelly's cap, and keeps his multicolored eyes on the shore, only straying to look at the falcon that lands on his shoulder as if it were only natural. (The falcon is more familiar than the jelly, for certain.)

He gathers himself to a standing position, hopping off of the jelly and onto the shore in about a foot of water, about as deep as the jelly is willing to go so it doesn't get beached. The two wings spread out and he shakes them a couple of times to disperse any residual water before they seem to all but disappear, leaving his back bare flesh. He looks to the hawk again. He doesn't know this hawk, but it seems familiar.

The hawk can fly. Clearly before was just a fluke. He was caught off guard, closer to the water than he had time to gain lift. Horus rather determinedly runs up the stairs and to the top of the cliff. This reminds him of when he was first learning to use them, getting a running start before trying to lift off. Except he's no child anymore, so now that he's away from the water, he runs toward the edge of the cliff, wings out again, and... the hawk flies up above him, landing on the cliff's edge while he plummets down right into the Cliff Beast's palm. Though if you aren't watching, this may have very alarmingly looked like this short, braided-haired and gold-clad boy just took a dive and an undignified scream off a cliff. ]

B. Caravan
[ There are a good many things Horus hasn't even started to understand that were gone over before the carriages left, mostly centered around the internet and the phones. He would learn them eventually, but for now they sat on his seat in the carriage, untouched and unutilized. He was squatted before the minibar, slowly taking out and examining every nip bottle. ]

These look like no beer or wine I've ever seen. Are they worthwhile?

[ What's a tequila? And what's with these small bottles, they're such an underwhelming offering... ]

C. Hoist the Flags (CW: Ancient Egyptian swimsuits don't exist, but it's all underwater so don't worry about it.)
[ Horus has been swimming about, gathering items, and is going around with a very friendly face and a little too small an understanding of personal space trying to find his match. More than once, he finds someone and places a hand on their shoulder while at their side. ]

Have you met your match yet?

[ He smiles softly.. and holds up a tarnished silver dining platter that he found in the captain's quarters. It's cloudy as can be and heavily scratched, but it's still clear what it is. He definitely meant did anyone else find a dining platter, not implying he's your match, but Horus is a little forward sometimes. ]

D. Wildcard

calanthe × original × healing / green | undecided familiar

[personal profile] floralisse 2021-06-02 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
— shipwreckers.
above water
( magic sure is interesting. sure, it's not unfamiliar to Calanthe — hard to even pretend it is when you've made a rose blossom on the tip of your coworker's finger, laughing at her expression all the white — but changing her clothes into a swimsuit is something new. and new is always fun. she almost wants to ask that guy just how he made that work, whether she can do it too, but there's no time.

all play and no work makes Calanthe a dull weapon, after all.

so it is with a reluctant sigh, and a mental note to herself to check that out later, that Calanthe turns to the nearest person with a smile.
)

So. How should we do this?

( gosh, when's the last time she worked with anyone? even Rose doesn't tag along on her adventures. she's usually off on her own.

how novel this will be.
)

underwater
( healing may not be as pointless as Calanthe originally thought. certainly, it isn't as fun as her powers back home, but it's been a great boon in getting around underwater.

unfortunately for us all, travelling underwater means running into a Fuath who lingers outside the ship, watching with sharp eyes through the frame of a shattered window as Calanthe plucks out a candlestick from among the wreckage of a room.

and, when she sees it, she smiles as though greeting a friend. after all, this guy is certainly different. and curiosity is always better than needless fear.
)

Do you want something? We've got—

( the Fuath's sharp gaze narrows to a glare, and whoever is near Calanthe right now might want to tell her to stop looking through the wreckage and start looking at the nine foot tall spirit that wants to launch her into space. )

— cursed kidnapees.
waiting area
( where on earth is she now? this is... annoying. she has nothing against a party or a crowded room, but at least ask her first.

good grief. even Central wouldn't pull this, and they shoved her in a room with nothing to do but read for a year.
)

Is this some sort of budget rave?

( she smiles at the person she speaks to despite the situation. no reason to panic just yet, after all. )

in the ring
( no magic, huh? she can work with that. it's not as efficient, but Central sure didn't skimp on the physical part of her training either, though it may be hard to tell by looking at the petite, white haired young woman with her equally white dress (slightly marked and marred by this whole kidnapping deal, but that's a rage she's suppressing until she gets a chance to do something about it). )

Let's fight fairly, okay~?

( which is all she says before removing her eyepatch, settling her feet into a firmer position where she stands.

making the first move is so passe in fights, after all. better to let your opponent telegraph their plans first.
)

shinra kusakabe | fire force | elemental/bargaining(?) + qilin(?)

[personal profile] devilsfootprints 2021-06-03 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Red Spring (A. Around town)
[Shinra's still trying to get his head wrapped around what happened. From the explanation, he keeps hearing words and names that remind him of Arthur’s delusional knight bullshit so a small part of him thinks this is all one big prank. But the set up is too elaborate to be a prank so he has no choice but to go along as all the newcomers are ushered onto caravans to go into town.

In any case, currently he's wandering around town, not really sure what he should do. He'd tried to buy some shoes earlier using the phone they were given only to find that he actually had no money on it. The shopkeeper wasn't very happy about that. Sure, he used to spend a lot of time barefoot before but that's also because he could fly. Now without his Ignition Abilities, it means he's going to have to spend more time walking and he’d rather have some kind of footwear for that.

No choice but to gather up his courage and ask a stranger for help...]

Uhhh... you know where I can get some shoes? Preferably free. I just got here so I don't have any money...

Red Spring (B. Training grounds)
[It’s a relief when Shinra finds out he has elemental magic. He already knows how to deal with fire so he figures that’s the best starting point. After a quick crash course on fire magic from one of the teachers, he starts his training out small—making fire appear, making it disappear, changing its size and shape. It’s not too bad, almost similar to his Ignition Abilities. As he gets the hang of it, he starts to get a little more confident. Maybe a little too confident.

It doesn’t feel right not having fire coming from his feet so instead of creating fire in his palm like the teacher taught him, he concentrates to have it appear around his feet instead. After a few tries, he succeeds. In his excitement, he forgets this isn’t his normal Ignition and ups the fire power in order to fly. Except he puts in a little too much power and instead of the gentle float he was expecting, he propels himself across the training grounds. His shaky control of his magic fails him at this point so he no longer has any way to stop himself.

Hopefully anyone in his way has quick reflexes.]

Oh shit—Hey! Watch out! Out of the way!

Ship Clean up
[Turns out cleaning a ship that’s been under water is A Lot of work. The mop Shinra has is already way too caked in algae to actually clean anymore. He’s pretty sure at this point he’s just pushing grime around from one spot to another. So really, there's no point in continuing.

Complaining isn’t good work ethic but he’s tired. Besides, this is only the second time he's ever been on a ship and this one looks way cooler than the first one so he’s itching to have a look around.

If he’s going to slack off though, he doesn’t want to do it alone so he calls out to the person cleaning closest to him.]

Ugh this sucks. Hey, wanna ditch and explore the ship instead?

arrival;
[ she's a pretty good swimmer, really, under.. normal circumstances.

but these are not exactly normal circumstances. one moment she had been comfortably seated at leblanc, and the next the ground dropped out from beneath her, plunging her - fully clothed! - into a cold lake. sumire shrieks unceremoniously before she is swallowed up by the water, a large jellyfish opening its bell up wide beneath her and pushing her gently to the surface.

that's also kind of unexpected...

coughing hard, sumire sits up with a start, her hair wildly plastered to her face, the jellyfish floating serenely, clearly unperturbed by her weight. what the heck is going on!! pathetically, she squeaks: ]

H-help..

ship cleanup;
[ well, at the very least she isn't entirely unfamiliar with the idea of other worlds, and even traveling to them, but a world parallel to your own is quite different from a literally different planet, but she is not alone here at least, so settling is is going.. fine. sumire is half convinced she's going to wake up from this strange dream at any time now, but for the moment she has to believe it's real.

which means keeping busy! and learning magic?? it seems impossible, but then, so did using her persona, once, and so did the idea of the metaverse. this year is really blowing her mind. anyway, she hadn't been confident enough with her new magicks to help very much with raising the ship, but she can help with cleanup!

maybe she can even do both!

zeroing in on a large ball of slimy seaweed, sumire opens her hands in an attempt to summon the kinetic energy to give the thing a push right off the side - it should be easy, right? at first nothing at all happens, so she screws up her expression and tries harder!! rather than slide across the deck and off into the water, the slime ball.. explodes! all over the person nearby! ]

Ah! Oh no! I-I'm so sorry!

beach episode;
[ obligatory beach episode!! sumire's swimsuit is a pink frilled two-piece, comfortable and bright, and her long hair is tied up with a red ribbon to keep it tamed in the face of the brusque lake winds.

the buffet looks excellent, especially after a long day at work, and sumire piles her plate with rice and fish, sitting in the sand with a beach ball between her feet; her portion is impressively large, but she seems to be putting it away without much trouble..

thoughtfully, she tilts her head. ]

What are the baseball bats for?

I. A KING ARRIVES
[ He was --

not here. Last he remembered. He was lounging around their place in Lunatia and then splash. Here. It was just him and the surprisingly cool water. It stuns him a little. It takes a moment but then he's kicking his legs and moving forward towards the beach.

He waves goodbye to the pillow jellies who helped him a little bit on the way and stretched his arms up above his head when he was there. Well, he guesses he's going to have to figure out what this place is, huh? He glances up towards the step and decides to wait down on the beach for a few moments, asking the first person he sees: ]

Hey, hey - do me a favor and pinch me so I can make sure this is real!

II. BEACH EPISODE
[ JJ is dressed in a swimsuit that he had obtained. It was like it was made for him. He likes everything here. The food, the drinks, the games. He likes the games most of all. He's competitive. So competitive.

He can be seen challenging anyone who will take him in a quick beach volleyball match. Or maybe a water gun fight is to be had.

Though, as the night wears on he cools off on the games and decides it might be fun to smash a watermelon. ]

He picks up a bat and offers it, grinning widely.

Hey! You should go first, I've never done this before!

[ He wants to see how it's done. ]

III. WILDCARD
[ hit me up [plurk.com profile] agalio or just wildcard it. i'm undecided on all of his magic. he's participating in everything that isn't fight related. ]

Shadow The Hedgehog | Sonic the Hedgehog | kinetic&light

[personal profile] ringsthatbind 2021-06-04 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
A: Splish Splash
[Wet, that's the first sensation Shadow feels when he awakens and well... He's not Sonic levels of bad with water but he's still not too pleased with finding himself in a lake. Mostly because it means his jet skates will have to dry off before he can use them, and mostly because it's damn inconvenient.

He mostly ignores the jellyfish as well, making his way to shore, and once there anyone can see the soaked black and red hedgehog giving the whole area a dirty look.]

B: Caravan to Camelot
[So, carriages. That is... Something. Shadow simply gets himself seated within one, not caring if it's already occupied, and is joined by small creature that for the moment the hedgehog seems to ignore. Even as the chao takes a seat in his lap, which gets Shadow to finally say something. Most likely to whoever is unlucky enough to be sharing the carriage with him.]

Have you never seen a chao before?

C: Kidnapped
Really.

[Those are the only words he has to say about the whole thing, even as he and another poor soul are brought to the ring to fight. He may not like the circumstances, the fact that he of all people got blindsided and kidnapped is something he won't ever live down if anyone who knows him found out, but he is most certainly not going to just give up.

So when the bell rings to signal the start of the fight? Shadow is moving quickly to punch at his opponent aiming for the stomach, considering the fact that he's only a mere three-foot three he can't aim much higher than that.]
