TEST DRIVE MEME ⚔️️ 2
![]() Premise ⚔️️ Rules ⚔️️ FAQ ⚔️️ Taken ⚔️️ Reserves ⚔️️ Apply ⚔️️ Locations ⚔️️ Bestiary ![]() A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's chilly waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's paralyzingly cold for a few seconds before you're approached by the Lady of the Lake beneath the water's surface. She puts a vial of a vibrant, glowing red Everwarm* potion to your character's lips. The icy water doesn't feel so icy once consumed and you'll be able to move your limbs enough to swim to shore on your own. She can't stick around to explain, she's got to get this to all the new arrivals! Many of which you'll see plopping in around you. If you can't swim, a handful of helpful ice turtles will scoop you up from beneath and drop you off at the shore. When not helping people, the turtles are going around and hitting the ice that keeps forming on the surface with their shells to keep the surface open for the falling arrivals or pushing personal items to the beach near the new arrivals they smell like (belong to). If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. If anyone with Animal Magic asks the turtles, they will give the full spiel, but very slowly, and they like to get off topic and gossip about other turtles you've never heard of. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]() A ⦿ Trial and Icy Errors Winter has arrived in Avalon, and with it has come to a change in the weather. Puffs of breath precede sentences when outside, small fires fill braziers to allow people to stop and get warm for a moment between where they come from and where they are going. Snow has begun to fall; at first, it is the same, fluffy, white flakes many adventurers will have seen. However, as the day progresses, the snow begins to shimmer; it’s like a prismatic effect, a magical light catching against every little crystal and illuminating sparkling flakes, so vibrant it’s clear someone has enchanted the snow. Shortly after the change, there will be a text alert to all devices: Tired of the same old routine with your magic? Ready for a little something new? Come on out and have an old fashioned snowball fight with a magical twist. Be sure to practice your new powers and have fun! 😉 -MerlinThose who come outside to find the rainbow snow already being packed into neat balls by Camelot's citizens; go ahead and grab a basket full but remember, don’t just toss them. Let’s get magic with it! Different types of magic will have different effects on the enchanted snow: In the end, it seems while adventurers will be able to get plenty of practice in, some of that practice is going to come from trying to stop the side effects of mixing their powers with the magic snow; welcome to your first lesson in control. If one is going to use magic in conjunction with already magically imbued things, they ought to know the right amount, seems Merlin wants you all to learn in a trial by snowball error. Those who practice their magic and participate in the snowball fight will be given hot chocolate, warm soup, fresh baked goods, or other treats to warm them up after their training is done. But don’t slack off! You’re like to find your hot chocolate spiced with pickle flavor, that warm treat suddenly turns to ice cream in your mouth. Avalonians want that practice to happen, and are willing to add some incentive... whether that means the carrot or the icicle. ![]() All throughout the City of Camelot is a buzz of excitement about the oncoming winter solstice on the 21st. Citizens will tell you of the winter solstice's importance in cleansing the flow of Avalon's magic each year and absorbing sunlight to increase its potency. In other words, the winter solstice generates a significant amount of magic if the proper ritual is followed, so the visitors from other worlds really should head on over to Albion's White Cliffs. A ⦿ The Darkness in the White Cliffs
Once you gain entrance, you will find there is no light within the caves and the door seems to close behind you. Non-magical lights won't illuminate anything within these caves, so you will need to either navigate through the darkness or find a magical means to light your path. Be wary-- traveling in the dark will be a much safer journey if you can find your way through the caves and keep track of your companions. The reason there is no light are the bat-like creatures that eat energy like fire and electricity. With the magical light attracting them and nothing to consume, they'll be very aggressive and swarm anything emitting heat.. like an unsuspecting traveler. Make too much noise, and the Cliff Beast will spit you out back onto the sand and you'll have to start over. B ⦿ "For a greedy man, even his tomb is too small."
There is no clear warning about what will happen if you take anything besides your one cup. However, characters who disobey this instruction and take any of the riches within the cave will initially experience severe symptoms such as magical blockage, an endless common cold, and food turning to ash in their mouth. They will experience dreams in which they are urged to return the treasure and a day later, advanced symptoms if it goes on for too long have been known to result in vomiting frogs and snakes, insomnia, speaking in tongues despite the translation spell, bleeding from the ears, and eventually death. C ⦿ Drink Up
Upon arriving at the Red Springs, a party of people there to guide those who have made the ritual's journey to a particular pool within the vicinity of the springs. Characters will be directed to take a sip, then pour the rest into the Spring alongside your peers, finally throwing the clay cup itself into the spring. Throughout the day, you will begin to feel strangely giddy, but it will pass. Nothing much will seem like it happens otherwise, but the guides assure you that you will understand on the night of the winter solstice when the ritual is complete and your body becomes a conduit to purify and rejuvenate Avalon's magic. For now, as thanks, the guides offer you one of the celebratory gifts they have to offer-- free drinks (this time of the age-appropriate alcoholic or sugary variety), a free night's stay at the Red Springs, a yule log, an escort, a Recipe: Snow Dance. (Effect: Snow Dance will cause small flurries to pick up where the spell is cast, resulting in decreased visibility. Only works if snow is already present, as it cannot generate elements.) The choice is yours. Pick one. Zenos yae Galvus | Final Fantasy XIV
[ It was fortunate that the sudden shifting of location struck Zenos while he was relatively lightly armored. No amount of warmth-granting potion nor helpful bobbing turtles would have been enough to keep him from plummeting like a stone, had he been properly garbed for battle. But he was not, and so the swim to shore is an easy enough thing, easy enough that by the time he reaches the shallows his mind is already turning over the possibilities as to what was happening.
If all of that possibility-pondering leaves his gaze distant and leaves him caught in his own head for the moment, so be it. He rises to his feet with an easy motion, sodden long blond hair hanging forward over his face. Another easy motion and he is sweeping it up and wringing it out, then tossing it it over his shoulder. His next motion, just as easy as the rest, is to square his broad shoulders and cast his eyes out upon the shoreline... and then he gives a sudden start, surprised to find that the silvery sea dragon that had been trailing him all this while seemed insistent on following him out of the water.
Hm. That's troublesome. Unthinkingly, he motions as though reaching to draw a sword, and startles awkwardly when he finds no blade at his hip.
That's enough of an opening for the serpent, it seems. It lunges in and bites Zenos's grasping hand, setting him roaring and recoiling backwards, snapping his arm back powerfully in an effort to shake the beast loose. Perhaps someone should intervene? But surely a 7-fulm-something paragon of power like him can handle one little sea serpent familiar. ]
B - Trial and Icy Errors
[ A snowball fight holds little inherent appeal to Zenos. What use is there in a mockery of a 'fight' with no clear victor? No true violence, no stakes? But the invitation also included the exhortation to come and test new powers... and that, he must admit, is worth making the time for. Testing his new limits in a situation with much lower stakes seems... wise, if dull.
So there he stands in the midst of it, his serpentine familiar Ginryu (who he has since worked out his differences with to the point of even granting the clever beast a name) wrapped protectively around a basket of snowballs, the pair sizing up the situation. He has ever been a man inclined to rely upon his own physical strength, but he has ever been adaptable as well... and he is determined to not let his loss of his Resonant powers be any sort of hinderance. For it has given him an inkling of how to begin tapping in to whatever new gifts this place has seen fit to grant him. He inhales, exhales, reaches purposely for a snowball and plucks one from the basket... and finds that three others lift up in tandem. ]
...hmm.
[ Best to make the most of that. A quick glance to the side to sight a target, and then abruptly he is whipping that one clutched snowball at them with force enough to sting painfully upon impact. And it is followed shortly after by those three others, traveling at similar speed with similar strength.
He is not smiling, now, but there's a hint of interest in his gaze now, at least. It is just as important to gauge the skills of others as it is to test his own limits. ]
C - Wildcard
[ Any particular ideas you'd like to see happen? Let me know! I'm
B. I'm sorry
The next three, however, are blocked by his upper arm one after the other, instinctively. The impact stings of course, and his clothes are getting soaked but at least he's spared himself from getting pegged in the face FOUR times versus just one.
It isn't until he's sure there are no more snowballs headed his way that he peeks out from around his arm, face screwed tightly into a grimace.]
You're throwing those really hard, you know...!
[This guy is intimidating by sheer presence, what the heck.]
But I'm probably the one that should be apologizing!
This is a snowball fight, is it not?
[ Two more snowballs lift from the basket, and copy the motions of the first. ]
If you feel sorely about it, hit me back.
nah it's fine, ITS Fine, they'll be fine
[He's really really not sure he wants to get into any kind of fight with this guy, he's got the aura of a guy who really just means business.]
I'm not any good with these powers, anyway. It's asking for trouble.
[All the same he crouches down to pick up a snowball, his gaze flicking from it to the blond man currently seemingly determined for a "fight".]

A-ish/Wildcard}
Even has her traveling bag so that she can give them something warm to wrap around themselves! So as the newcomers are offloading and wandering in, she looks around and ends up (as expected) walking into a figure that seems to be intent on not getting out of the way!
She makes an annoyed sound, ears frizzing as she begins to draw up a scolding when she — sees his face-
And freezes.
So does her little dragonet familiar, even if it doesn't know why she has frozen.
Oh. Oh no.
The sight of who she's looking at brings back the images of horror and pain, for certain- but also the vaguest recollection of something else tied to the world she was formerly in. It's enough to make her take a few wary steps back and stare, however-
Actually, never mind, she's still scolding him. ]
Don't go knocking people off their feet!
[ Why did that not come out as strongly as she wanted it?! She coughs and tries again. ]
And I should warn you, you aren't to go picking fights willy-nilly around here!
[ Actually she hasn't seen a rule like that but- what the hells. Of all the people to run into why did it have to be him?! ]
no subject
It does make him stop, though. Stop, and frown, and take in the absolutely wild series of expressions that flit across her face. None of them are unfamiliar things, no, he knows a vast variety of looks of fear and anger... but most varieties of fear require a reason. ]
Hn.
[ His eyes narrow, his displeasure plain, when she has the audacity to try and command him... but the latter command is a far more interesting thing than the former. What evidence does this Miqo'te have that he is the sort inclined to fighting? ]
And how, precisely, do you intend to enforce this command?
[ Please, do tell him. He would like to hear this. He would like to see if she stammers and squirms and retreats, or if there's fire under all of the smouldering.
His serpent friend, also looking a bit worse for the wear as it trails a pace behind him, gives a hiss. ]
you had to use a threatening icon didn't you
She, on the other hand, has a little more composure than that, and her dragonet seems to follow suit, watching her reactions. It puffs out a little bit of blue smoke, and she lifts a hand dismissively. ]
However it needs to be enforced, Zenos yae Galvus. New world or not, there are still going to be some who know of your reputation, you know.
[ Yet, she seems to be talking to him with a little more familiarity than one would with a prince of an enemy Empire. ]
Now come this way, you're still dripping all over.
[ She certainly doesn't waste time. ]
Well he's got a very limited emotional range

A. time for him to befriend all the villains
Amon, his own large flaming hellhound had taken a defensive stance, growling, but Kuroko held him off for the moment. This man seemed dangerous but he did want to at least try to resolve this without violence.
Hoping that his nearly invisible presence didn't let him get attacked this time, he spoke up.]
Excuse me. I believe that creature is not actually here to harm you. I don't suggest fighting it.
There is just so much possible friendship here, yes
GRAAAH!
[ He grasps the serpent by its long body, pulls hard enough to dislodge it from his hand with much hissing and screeching, begins to grip harder... and finds that it only results in the slippery thing twisting free and splashing back into the knee-deep water below.
He uses this pause in the fight to look in Kuroko's direction. ]
You're mistaken if you think-
[ And then the sea serpent is biting him in the thigh, and he is roaring and snatching for the blasted thing again. Maybe it's just that they're both violent and irritable sorts... ]
no subject
The large hellhound was already approaching the two, growling in an attempt to seperate the two before he started using his teeth. Despite this feeling like a downhill battle, Kuroko trying to get his arms in there too.]
If you keep provoking it, it will keep biting you. Please stop before one of you gets hurt.

It's just as a plethora of snowy butterflies have taken wing that Zenos' projectiles whack him on the back.
Irritated, he swivels around, mouth open to deliver a scathing indictment on the person responsible. But when he does see who it is, he freezes. Of all the people to arrive here... ]
...Don't tell me your father is about to join us in a moment, [ he says, still with a bite of annoyance in his tone. ]
no subject
It's the lack of beard, he thinks, that's making it seem particularly wrong. ]
I would hope not.
[ But the old man's miserable attitude hasn't changed a bit. That's something. He follows through with his earlier intent of plucking another snowball. ]
But it seems it's not entirely impossible a thing to have happen, given your presence here.
[ He knows you're supposed to be dead, great-grandfather. Perhaps there will be an explanation? He's listening. ]
no subject
I'm afraid I don't quite follow your meaning, boy, but I half expect the entire army to follow us here at this point.

A-ish
Unfortunately for Felih, today's surprise came in the form of a very familiar, terrifying Garlean prince.
As soon as he comes close enough to realize who the man is, he instinctively freezes up, ears pinning back and tail tucking between his legs as his heart starts to race. He. He should run. He should definitely... definitely run... But right now he can hardly move.
no subject
He is, however, beneath Zenos's notice at the moment. His eyes pass over him, certainly, as he scans the beach for lost items of his own... but they do not return to him. What's one more frightened and rattled and utterly unremarkable person to someone like him?
"Ah." Especially when he has spotted what looks to be Ame-no-Habakiri, laid out on the shore. He changes course and his steps quicken, coming closer and closer towards where Felih has found himself frozen. Mere coincidence, of course, but neither of them know that.
no subject
He bolts, because without his offensive magic, he's nigh defenseless. His chakrams will do little against a foe like Zenos, and here, he is without his beloved team to support him. All he can do is run like hell for a hiding place, and also eventually get the wherewithal to let everyone else know that Zenos is here.
It is very likely that Zenos will later encounter Felih trying to de-stress and calm down in a hot spring. Water is his home and comfort. He feels more at ease there, he can relax... things will be fine. Zenos would never come to a bathhouse, right? He seems like the type to think it pointless.

The second thing she thinks is, "fuck me, better get this over with."
Perhaps it's cheating to bring a sword to a snowball fight, but one can never be too careful. So, at the sight of three projectiles hurling towards her, she steps back against the momentum and makes a horizontal slash, to cleave the snowballs in half. One is a bit too high for her to reach with that slice, however, and smacks her square in the side of the head.]
--Shite.
[That hurt. She reaches up to swipe the snow out of her hair. But what good does healing magic do, imbued in a snowball? Then, the thought of what it does here leads her to wonder in turn: would such a thing work on someone like Zenos, stripped of his abilities?
Without a word, she glances at a pile of snow, gathers it up, and starts imbuing a few shots. For someone deficient of the feeling of pleasure, would a magical influence be able to change that, even just slightly? Perhaps being able to entertain him in some measure is a more important skill than being able to fight him while they're all on relatively equal ground...]
no subject
Which then proceed to explode into a veritable cloud of pastel-colored snow just before they can manage to make impact with her. The magic here is purposely tricky, after all, and Zenos has yet to fully grasp that fact. ]
no subject
One after another she pitches them at him with full-body throws, unafraid to draw closer to maximize her accuracy in a mirror of her usual combat strategy. Normally, it wouldn't matter so much, but it's imperative these at least hit their mark, even if it means putting herself out there as a broad target in the aftermath when she runs out.
In fact, any that impact him, if at all, should cause a tingly, relaxing sort of sensation; not quite happiness, but certainly a sense of calm. It just remains to be seen how it affects him, for being the antithesis of his usual state of being -- and she is interested to see.]

[Zenos would likely notice the serpent's eyes darkening unnaturally as if night had fallen purely for the serpent before a bear the size of a small horse charged in and swiped at the serpent's body attempting to dislodge it, Gundham following after it, his bandaged arm still glowing with a dark aura.]
It is dangerous here. If you can move, I highly suggest getting to the stairs.
no subject
And it's just in time for that bear the size of a small horse bolts in and takes a swipe at the snakey familiar. A swipe that said familiar seems to anticipate, and so it unlatches from Zenos's arm, twists and writhes, and deftly curls itself about the enormous man's shoulders as though it were frightened. ]
Wh-
[ Zenos himself had expected none of that, but he should have, and so it has all left him wild-eyed and on edge, and no small amount confused. He looks at the bear. Looks at the young man commanding it. Looks between them both one more time. ]
What?

B
He’s found a shaded place to stow himself away, to watch from a distance all the goings-on before him. That is until he catches something in his periphery — the arc of an item blisteringly fast flying his way, and it’s only through instinct alone that Kain raises a gauntleted forearm to block the incoming assault.
An assault that explodes in a spray of white powder, followed by another concurrent round. The next few he manages to miss by mere inches, twisting his body out of the way, though the last one still shears past his dragoon armor, splaying itself in half before it lands behind him.
Kain frowns. Deeply.]
Was that strictly necessary? You should find more entertainment in assailing those who have an interest in fighting back.
[“Fighting” being used very liberally, here.]
Pardon the delay! New FFXIV patch hit.
[ That was a fine reaction to so vicious a volley of snowballs, in Zenos's estimation. So much so that he's tempted to just forget about the snow and the magic practice entirely and go retrieve his sword and see how things proceed from there.
But he withholds that impulse. The corners of his mouth twitch, but he does not quite smile. ]
If you've no interest in the exercise, why are you here?
[ It really isn't much of a 'fight', yes. But it seems to be serving some purpose, at least in giving him a better idea of the other sorts of people that have been brought to this place. ]
Confident enough in your skills, are you?
[ It is making an assumption, and he knows it. The sort of assumption that, he hopes, may goad the man a step closer to returning with some violence of his own, snow-based or otherwise. ]
A
For what it’s worth, though, he remains wordless as his boots trod through the loose sand of the shoreline, eyes fixed downwards as if seeking treasure hidden beneath the earth. He’s noted the turtles pushing in personal belongings like the slow rising tide, washing up valuables close to those who have lost them; and Sephiroth has lost one of his own. A hand no longer grips the familiar balance of a familiar blade, and he seeks to find its crescent steel peeking out from beneath the shore.
And at a distance, he does — a metal shimmer that runs the length of curve that he would know absolutely anywhere. The problem? A man, taller than even him, seems to have found himself in a bit of trouble with a sea serpent-looking creature just adjacent. Sephiroth would rather just swoop in and take what is his, instead of interrupting the scene, but there seems to be little choice as their tussle brings them closer and closer to Masamune in the sand.
Nothing for it, then, but to lope forward until he’s close enough to attempt to firmly grasp ahold of either flailing arm or serpent tail, with the boldness of a man who has never had much to fear in the past.]
Calm down and step aside.
no subject
That's different. ]
No.
[ But not so different that he feels inclined towards not being his usual willful and violent self. Zenos's grip suddenly tightens, but before he can take any further violent action, the sea serpent is suddenly back on the scene. A sharp hiss is all the warning that it gives before it makes a valiant effort at biting the silver-haired man on the thigh. ]
