A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's still chilly, but not enough that you can't manage on your own. The Lady of the Lake is swimming around under the water, helping to rescue any wayward travelers who look like they're struggling in the water. This month's helpers are giant pillow jellies, a species of jellyfish that is capable of ballooning itself at the surface to create bouncy pads for characters to hop across to the shore, should they choose or not be able to swim. They come in a variety of bioluminescent colors, but do not seem to be very talkative even to animal magic users. Those who try may find themselves being ignored, even if they hear the jellies talking amongst themselves about this and that. If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. (Though.. given how hot and muggy the weather is this first week, maybe you might want to ask him to toss you right back into the lake where the waters are still cool.) *Reminder: Your character's familiar may or may not be with your character in their initial plunge. If the familiar isn't partial to water, it may meet your character on the beach or sit atop their head while they swim. Or if they are, they might splash about and swim alongside your character. Familiars have different personalities and body specs and we leave those up to the players. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with whole coconuts filled with tropical drinks and topped with tiny umbrellas. Strawberry daiquiris, pina coladas, margaritas, mai tais, and more... all frosty and in the spirit of keeping you cool during the sunny month of August. (Naturally, virgin editions are available for the underaged.) Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, ![]() C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]()
With communications with Elphame in Celliwig disrupted by specters and Arthur temporarily decommissioned, the Hall of Mirrors is temporarily off limits for cleansing rituals. Celliwig has encouraged people to return to Camelot for the time being, which is just as well with all the newcomers flooding in. Last month's new arrivals through the old guard got an introduction to the new aquatic mounts and there are now plenty of people versed in how to handle and work with the magical alpacapies, mossatees, and deinosuchus. As scout parties head out further, there are a few problems that they've run into that need a helping hand from Camelot's otherworldly population.
B ⦿ Clash of the Titans
C ⦿ Fresh Waters
Or if you weren't so lucky, you may find yourself waking up on a slightly different shore. An underwater shore. An underwater town, in fact. After the initial panic of realizing that you're not drowning when you wake up settles in, you'll realize that you seem to be able to breathe underwater just fine. In fact, the real panic is probably about to start when you realize that like the fine people of this town that saved you, you've been temporarily gifted gills and a bottom lower half of either a merperson, a naga, or a cecaelia. Your caretaker, a nurse of the local town, offers the explanation that the only way to save everyone from drowning was to pull them into their territory, which is cursed to turn them all into sea monsters. Not to worry though, as long as you leave before the sun sets on the third day, you'll turn back to normal just fine. ...Though, they're not really sure when that was or if they battle is over, so you should probably find your friends and any possessions you had with you and start heading toward the surface. Not too much time to explore this strange, underwater town... especially since you don't have much practice not having legs to get you up to the surface. Don't worry, if you don't make it out in time, the Lady of the Lake will come fetch you... though perhaps not in time, so you may need to spend some time back in Camelot seeking out someone to break a curse. ![]()
Arthur is injured and recovering, and news has spread on social media about it. There are lots of well-wishers and gifts being sent to the castle... enough that there's just too much for Arthur to do anything with it. He needs time to recover and rest and not be bothered, and as such declares that all those who need it shall share in the wealth and generosity of those wishing him well. The abundance (Especially from guilty Celliwigians who didn't realize what was happening right under their own noses) results in a few things happening...
B ⦿ Swap Meet
C ⦿ Healing Circle After Party

Gandra Dee | Ducktales 2017 | Healing/Technomancy | Sphinx familiar
The last thing Gandra remembered before arriving here was falling out of the Sunchaser. She plunged into the water with a loud resounding 'SPLASH!', taking a moment to orient herself right-side up before she started swimming toward the shore. She was skeptical of the large jellyfish at first, not wanting to be stung, but once she saw someone's silhouette bouncing along to shore in the distance, she accepted the jellyfish were there to help.
She had so many questions to ask, but didn't want to interrupt. At least this place had some measure of technology, though she had no idea how she was supposed to learn magic when she'd never showed any affinity for it before.
Spotting a fellow new arrival struggling with the smartphone, she quietly asked, "Need some help with that?"
A dip in the springs
Today was turning out to be extremely strange, and it was more than a little distressing to not be able to find any of the people she'd been traveling with. No Fenton, no Huey, no...anybody that had been onboard the Sunchaser. Had the world been frozen in time mid-fall? Did no one else have a familiar that pulled them here? Well, if it was going to fall to her to save the world, so be it. But first? She wanted to sit and soak in the springs and sort out what she'd learned about this world so far.
"I hope this training they're offering is worthwhile," she remarked, glancing down at the water she was soaking in rather than the person near her. "I've never tried learning magic before, although there are magical artifacts and a few select people who can use it in my world. What about you?"
Training grounds
Bahira, her sphinx familiar, watched from the sidelines as Gandra attempted to use her magic. At first? Absolutely nothing, but if there was a trait that Gandra possessed in spades, it was boundless curiousity. She would figure out what her magic was, no matter what. If nothing else, the obstacle course looked like good exercise - and something that could relax her when she needed to meditate.
She got tripped up on one of the hurdles, falling painfully to the ground with a twisted knee. "Ow!" She rolled her pant leg up, gingerly touching the injury when some pale blue light surrounded the injury and began to mend it. "Huh...healing." Her tone made it clear it was not the sort of magic she might have expected to wind up with, but she didn't have any objections. "Neat. I'll have to brush up on my biology knowledge."
Wildcard
(Want something other than one of the prompts here? Surprise me! Gandra will be spending a lot of time in the library and will offer to heal injured people so she can practice with her healing magic)
Training Grounds
"Hey, need any help theeeEERAAAAHYOUUUUU!"
- And now she's pretty surprised. And mad. How did F.O.W.L. manage to wind up here?!
no subject
"Um...it looks like I wound up with healing magic, so I think I should be all right in a minute."
Although her knee is healing, she stays seated. "So...how long have you been here? I didn't see you in the new arrivals caravan."
no subject
"How does a F.O.W.L. agent get the good magic, and I get spooky curses and darkness?!" Boo! Boo, she says! She wants to talk to the manager of Camelot!
Wait. No. Focus.
"Er, what I mean is... we've got you four to one, Miss Dee! So if you're thinking of any... evil things... don't!"
... She was starting to realize how silly she sounded. Really, how much trouble could one person do against a whole world full of (mostly) good guys?
no subject
She trails off, considering the hostility and the accusation of 'thinking of evil things', and quickly reaches a conclusion.
"...you don't remember any of this, do you?"
no subject
"... Considering I have no idea what you're talking about, gunna say yeah, not remembering." Unless it was a trick, and really, you couldn't rule out that possibility!
no subject
An apology probably couldn't hurt, all things considered. She doesn't expect Della to trust her much, but if she can at least reach basic civility and get her to accept that she doesn't have anything evil planned, that's enough.
"Well, like I said...I quit F.O.W.L. They took it poorly. And...I'm sorry. For the trouble I caused while working with them."

But he doesn't really get around to doing much training of his own, because something else catches his eye. It's not often that he sees a fellow bird in this world, after all. He watches her take on the obstacle course - and tries to approach after she trips.
"Whoa, are you okay?" Although as he tries to reach her, he ends up tripping over one hurdle and slamming his face into another one. While also realizing that she just healed herself! "Oh, that... that must come in handy!"
no subject
She bends her knees, testing just to be sure...and it's as good as new!
"Let me try healing you."
Now that she knows the basic nature of the magic she's supposed to learn, she's enthusiastic about learning to master it. Supposedly people wind up with a secondary type as well, but she'll cross that bridge when she reaches it.
no subject
"It's okay... Don't think anything's broken. Aside from my pride? Just, just an ordinary little trip, that's all!"
no subject
"Come on, I could really use the practice. We're supposed to master our new magic to save our worlds and other people's, right?"
Of the people here, he looks like he could be from her world, but she's not going to make assumptions. After all, there's so many worlds with those humans.
no subject
"You do have a point, though! Practice does make perfect... and any step towards saving all worlds is good in my book!" He wants to save his world and all other worlds. And hope that Dr. Waddlemeyer is on one of them.
So he just... raises his beak towards her to offer it for healing. "Y'know, while you're at it, I did singe some feathers on my arm this morning too... just in case you want some extra practice!" He can get used to this! Too used to it.
no subject
"Sure, I'll see what I can do."
She positions her hands near his beak. She can't remember exactly what set off her healing magic. Was it the pain of her injury? Or was it assessing the damage?
"How did you get singed? Cooking, experimenting with magic, or something else entirely?"
Might as well make conversation while she tries to make this work.

"Atom!" the dog's frustrated owner calls, and then there's Fenton trying to bodily haul the dog off of her. "I swear, I can't take you anywhere...!" Too busy trying to reign the dog in, he doesn't notice the canine's victim yet. "I'm so sorry, I really shouldn't trust him to be off the leash - "
He finally turns towards her then before he freezes, his beak audibly snapping shut in his shock.
"G...G-Gandra Dee?"
no subject
"Fenton!" With her knee freshly healed, she springs to her feet to give him a tight hug and to plant a kiss on his cheek. "I'm so glad to see you!"
Maybe it was a little mushy, but she's grateful to be reunited with him - especially in this bizarre place.
no subject
His first instinct is to push her away, but he just manages not to do that by grabbing her shoulders instead. “U-Uh...” he stammers, because suddenly his brain isn’t working right.
no subject
They would have noticed one another if he was on the caravan with her, and Gandra's starting to wonder if perhaps time isn't frozen back on their world, so much as moving at a glacial pace.
no subject
But he’s too busy just staring at her for a moment, his face still flushed as he tries to get his beak to form a response. “A-Ah, um...a c-couple of months...being here...I mean...”
And he did indeed miss her, but he couldn’t seem to bring himself to admit it right now.
no subject
She's not going to be bold enough to suggest they move in, but she does want to ensure she's living nearby. She intends on visiting often, and she hasn't really picked out where she wants to stay in this world. She's just adjusting to this world, and truthfully, the shock hasn't set in yet.
"So, what kind magic did you end up with? Looks like I've got healing, but I haven't figured out my secondary magic yet."

Makoto always goes to the Bay this time of month to look for people from home (none this month, alas) and to help newcomers get settled in. Not to mention she visits the spring regularly outside of that to relax and train her own magic.
But as she tries to take a deep breath and focus on the earth so she can summon rocks to throw at a dummy (lightning is still her strongest element, of course, and earth one of her weakest), she catches something out of the corner of her eye. Or rather... someone.
So after a while, Gandra will see a human girl approach, tall and muscular despite her youth... and with bear made of jade green lightning strolling at her side.
"Hey. Your name's not Gandra Dee, is it?"
no subject
The interesting looking familiar gives her away as someone who was brought here from another world rather than a local, so she can't be one of the local tech experts Gandra asked Archimedes about meeting.
"Yes?" she answers, unsure of what the girl wants. "Can I help you?"
no subject
A curt nod.
"Thought so. I'm Makoto Kino; I'm a friend of Fenton's. You've come up once or twice..." Yup, blunt as a hammer, this one. "And this is Kaede."
The bear gives a wary rumble, not quite a growl yet, though.
no subject
She gestures to the blue sphinx watching on the sidelines as she trains. If Makoto was introducing her familiar, then it's only polite to introduce hers as well. "This is Bahira."
no subject
Ah, hello, winged kitty. Makoto nods and Kaede gives a soft huff through his nose. So... mentioning Fenton didn't make the chick flinch...
"Welcome to Avalon. So... what is your deal with Fenton?"
After all, she only knows Fenton said she was a scientist... and had tried to rob him. But then again, Tuxedo Mask was a jewel thief and then a brainwashed zombie when they first met him. She just wants to make sure this Gandra isn't going to string Fenton along and then break his heart.
no subject
Although with the way Makoto phrased her question, it makes her wonder exactly what kind of stories came up. Possibly some of the bad things she did in the past?
"I...uh. I used to work for some questionable people in order to get funding for my scientific research, and I've done a few not so great things in the past because of that. Fenton played a big part in me turning things around and working on being a better person."
