![]() Premise ⚔️️ Rules ⚔️️ FAQ ⚔️️ Taken ⚔️️ Reserves ⚔️️ Apply ⚔️️ Locations ⚔️️ Bestiary ⚔️️ Top-Levels Only ⚔️️ ![]() A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's chilly waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's paralyzingly cold for a few seconds before you're approached by the Lady of the Lake beneath the water's surface. She puts a vial of a vibrant, glowing red Everwarm* potion to your character's lips. The icy water doesn't feel so icy once consumed and you'll be able to move your limbs enough to swim to shore on your own. She can't stick around to explain, she's got to get this to all the new arrivals! Many of which you'll see plopping in around you. If you can't swim, a handful of helpful ice turtles will scoop you up from beneath and drop you off at the shore. When not helping people, the turtles are going around and hitting the ice that keeps forming on the surface with their shells to keep the surface open for the falling arrivals or pushing personal items to the beach near the new arrivals they smell like (belong to). If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. If anyone with Animal Magic asks the turtles, they will give the full spiel, but very slowly, and they like to get off topic and gossip about other turtles you've never heard of. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]() Everyone needs a little fun from time to time; the locals have put together the annual Snow Games. As with all things Avalonians plan, magic plays a part in the competition. There will be three separate tiers for characters to enter. Each Tier will have its predetermined track or ring, set up and ready to go. A ⦿ Foot Races
Along the route, racers can expect to run into minor obstacles such as snow bunnies, puddles that can’t be jumped, a flock of snowbirds giving hassle, trees that upend their own roots and move to confuse the pathway. Whatever the interruption, it will come in the form of either a small creature made of magical snow or some minor hindrance to the path. Competitors will have to use magic to overcome these obstacles. Whatever your magic class, find a way. B ⦿ Sled Races
On the path, obstacles will come in the form of wholly washed out portions of the track that need to be reformed using magic to pass. Use elemental magic to flatten rocky areas or wash away debris. Larger creatures such as snow deer and moose congregate in large groups blocking the path, so an animal magic user could be useful for asking them to move... someone with cognitive magic could try their hand at a little hypnotizing a fellow newcomer with big muscles to move fallen logs for them. Healing mages could easily use buffers to support their fellow magicians with temporarily increased speed or strength. Use light magic to sneak past living obstacles, or dark users can cast a love enchantment and make a love match between two moose even though it's far from spring. There are tons more creative uses of magic to help you get through the obstacles on the sled's pathway. Find a creative way to use magic and get through the obstacle; make sure you are faster than the other guy. C ⦿ Snow Chicken
Just... be wary, these friendly yeti are surprisingly big on hugging as a form of congratulations. It's much more challenging to escape from a yeti's embrace than it is to knock one over. ![]() Trumpets hail an announcement by the town crier in front of the castle. More than a few people pull out their phones to record it and post it to the AOL network for all to see. "Hear ye, hear ye! Our noblest of lords, King Arthur of Camelot, will host a tournament on this January the 20th on castle grounds. All are welcome to participate in competitions to determine those most skilled in both the physical and magical arts. In preparation for the upcoming tournament, we are sending envoys to Celliwig. In Celliwig lies the Magic Mirror of the South, gifted to Camelot by the Fae, and a means to communicate with their royal court at will. It is a vastly important task in your journey to become magicians and to show your good will toward the fairies. Parts of the mirror's frame have been damaged. We will need those brave of soul and pure of heart to retrieve the crystals needed to repair the mirror. Those interested, the party leaves at dawn." A ⦿ Brave of Soul
B ⦿ Pure of Heart
"The pure of heart will form the bridge with a leap of faith." Since everyone has gone as a group, it will be possible to see others walking over the water once one person figures it out. Though the clue may seem challenging, it is quite straight-forward. Characters who are pure of heart will find that if they believe in themselves, they will be able to step off the bridge and hardlight will form beneath their feet to allow them to step over the water. Those with ill intentions or those who are willing to harm others to get their way will slip into the rapid waters and may need to be saved by other characters. At least you're off the bridge, so magic will work to that end. C ⦿ Celliwig, the Splendored Court
The party is led to a hall at the center of the city-- the hall of mirrors. Those who have succeeded in obtaining crystals need to bring them and set them on a table placed before a mirror at the end of the hall, which appears to have a number of empty settings. It's unclear what happened to the mirror previously, but now it's necessary to restore it to garner the favor of the fae. Once crystals have been delivered, people will be free to explore the quiet city, but it seems most of the city is closing shop while the visitors are around. There is a restaurant that will serve visitors food, though all of the dishes are of the molecular gastronomy variety. Alcoholic drinks seem to come in vapor form and flashes of light if ordered, but seem effective nonetheless. The local general store seems to be willing to sell supplies to weary travelers as well, but that's about it. ...That said the inn doesn't seem particularly keen on allowing visitors in strangely, so you're either going to be sleeping on the iridescent streets or camping just outside the city if you prefer the soft grass and the darkness of night. Just be aware, if you leave, you won't be able to get back into this mysterious city so easily. MOD NOTES: • All test drive prompts are open to anyone in the game at any time to create your own logs with, but this post should have top-levels by potential new characters only. Current characters may reply to any threads, but should not top-level comment on this post. • If your application is accepted, you may accept TDM threads as game canon as long as both players consent. Characters may begin threading as soon as their journal is accepted to the communities. • If nothing here tickles your fancy, try one of this month's Quests for your TDM prompt. • Note that the third prompt in this TDM will have consequences on the game's progression. After the application round, a poll will be put up to see how many characters who are in the game, both new and old, are able to obtain the crystals from the Brave of Soul and Pure of Heart prompts. • The first "Arrival" prompts are present on every TDM, but may contain seasonal tweaks for flavor. All other prompts will change monthly. • Questions about this TDM's content? Comment here! If you have a question about the game at-large, please head over to the FAQ. *This Everwarm does not count toward your potion collection for those who wish to take up potion brewing. You must obtain Everwarm from the Elphame Trader's to count. **Jackets come in a variety of neutral colors, enchanted with a fit-adjustment spell that will adjust to your character's size. |

Zuko | Avatar: the Last Airbender
[ An unexpected plunge into icy cold oceans does not make for a happy firebender. He's a competent swimmer, enough to annoyedly push turtles out of his way on his way to shore, but he's none too calm about his situation — in fact, he's furious. It's not Zuko's fist time being spirited away to another realm; he's just arriving from a six-month-long stay in Prismatica, where he lived a life of willing poverty for sheer resistance of intimacy, but nevertheless made deep friendships and lived a peaceful life, which were both now... gone... along with his own real world, apparently, if he didn't do his best here to save it, as if that weren't what he was doing at home, too. He'd had an existential crisis knock him out of commission for a week upon his first veer off destiny's path, but this one mounting now just felt spiteful. He'll not be a good companion for anyone in any sense, more likely than not, for the first week here, but he'll will himself conscious for it, at least, since this ain't his first time at the alternate-reality rodeo...
Find him having a public meltdown, fuming and seething to himself on the beach once escaping the freezing waters, dripping wet and cursing the turtles bringing him his belongings, in spite of himself. Maybe you've found yourself in the same caravan as him, where he's no more fun; he'll barely fidget with the device, won't strike up friendly conversation with friendly strangers, won't drink from the mini-bar... No, he'll just wrap up in himself with legs splayed to keep maximum distance in his personal bubble, glare out the window, and maybe grumble or sigh occasionally. If you're the lucky
turtle-ducky to find yourself rooming with him, you might find a slightly softer (though no more agreeable) fire prince in the inn, a roll of parchments with various small paintings on them spread across the bedspread before him, a pensive, distraught look on his face as he examines each sheet. In the morning, though, is where he'll shine: Zuko's at the training ground at the birth of sunlight, determined to start practicing his new magic. All he knows is he can't make fire, and he's going to lose his absolute shit if he can't regain his flames, like... tomorrow. Unfortunately, it seems he's just full of hot air — literally. With his new elemental magic, any firebending forms he tries just produce puffs of unintentional airbending, and a whole lot of frustration. He doesn't know he's now an Avatar yet, essentially. ]Mirror, Mirror
A » Unquestionable Honor
[ Zuko is an exceptionally brave boy, for better or worse. While he may be reckless, however, he's not fearless by any means. It's just that his fears are rather— entrenched. He's never met a battle he was afraid to join, even if he shouldn't, or an adventure too intimidating to avoid, even if he should. His fears are more conceptual; philosophical worries, deep self-criticism, misdirection... Fears of his own moral bankruptcy, abandonment, latent dishonor. So given the inconcrete nature of his innermost fears, illusions of these doubts are all but entirely convincing and realistic, without any logical tells physically to show that it's not just... typical. That said, it's promising too because it means he already knows how to defeat his demons — and already knows that he knows how, too. Overcoming one's darkest sense of self is no easy task alone; in fact, it's impossible, and it took him the better part of four years to realize it, only with the support of his wise, kindhearted uncle... Someone he's sorely missing now finding himself in Avalon — especially in this instance, facing his own fears of innate disgrace in a dank cave with no magic, where the old man's guidance would be more useful than ever. But any friends he finds himself with in the cave, old or new, can be of just as much help. People need to reflect on themselves, but sharing yourself with another person allows them to be like a mirror; so any glimmer of light you share will shine on both of you, leading the way as it's revealed. ]
B » A Pure Heart
[ After overcoming fears of being just, like, a terrible person at his core, and still coming out of the cave triumphant, the invisible bridge seems less challenging now than maybe it otherwise would. Beyond this, Zuko is courageous, trusting, and thickheaded — pure of heart, indeed. For someone who's plagued with doubt, he's also rather confident, maybe overly so, and more often than not acts before thinking. Watching the others successfully crossing the bridge briefly before trying anything himself, it doesn't take him long to take a stab at it. Before he does, though, he turns to his partner to make a wry joke... except he's entirely serious, so it's not really a joke, is it? ]
Hey — let's jump off the cliff. Literal leap of faith.
C » High Ideals
[ It'd been a long and arduous day on this mission, leaving Zuko looking pretty haggard, with a lot of confrontation within and without himself. Zuko's not exactly the social butterfly drawn to the big groups, or in this case more like a moth drawn to the prismatic city of light. He's not exactly tired, but he's done. He's beelined for the outskirts of the iridescent city by the end of the night, determined to get away from the hustle and bustle. The city was stunning, but it was a heavy emotional load to bear to get there, especially for being so new to this realm, still in shock of his situation. He'd explored a bit but the novelty is not as absorbing for him as it is for maybe most. He needs time to think and rest. There's a lot on his mind. He's set up "camp" on his own, content to just lie in some grass to sleep, no frills. But before that, he'll spend a contemplative silence gazing at the stars above. There's a lot out there to contemplate. He's got to rather literally think about his place in the universe tonight, and that's a real brain-buster. Maybe he'll ruminate aloud to the right person; maybe another might break his revery, for better or worse. Either way, company is appreciated whether he appreciates it or not. ]
beach arrival as promised with hugs
In fact, he's do glad he's giving Zuko a hug.]
Zuko...! Finally. You can help me finish my training.
[No, really, he's glad to just see him but bonus.]
c; avatar buddiesss~ i'm assuming our other thread can stay canon for sokka but zuko will forget it?
Sokka...! —Seriously? That's the first thing you say to me?
nah, but we can handwave stuff they talked in the threads so we don't have to repeat. Easier
Don't get me wrong it's great to see you. But it hasn't been that long since I last saw you. And you need to understand that I need your help now more than anything.
[He looks serious as he takes a deep breathe.]
You need to teach me how to firebend.
perfect, what i had in mind
Firebending? Well, sorry to break it to you, buddy, but I'm all out of juice. Look—
[ He takes a step back, but barely a couple because he knows already nothing is going to come out. And indeed, as he stretches out for a basic firebending form or two, no flames erupt from his palms. He stops his failure of a show and waves his hands in the air emphatically, snarling in frustration. ]

Arrival !!!
Maybe she'll feel at least a little bad for the soaked fireboy later. Then again it's not like she hasn't thrown all kinds of waterbending at him in many circumstances too, even in the middle of a snowstorm.
But right now? Katara is way too happy and excited about seeing him!]
ZUKO!!!!
[That's the only warning he gets from nearby before the girl rushes in for a hug.]
no subject
Katara!
High Ideals
He's moving away from the rest of the sleeping party that had left the city in order to have a few cigarettes and not bother anyone.
Which means he's wandering about and may be happening by Zuko, but isn't looking to have any conversations. He's just trying to think out his approach to his current cursed state.]
no subject
He'd already just assumed he wasn't here... That he'd never see him again... Already even told people about him! He'd met his own friends from home and was elated to reunite after so long. He'd met his sister, endeared and relieved to be by her side for the first time in his life. He'd met Hikaru and his crush Taichi, had already grappled with annoyed and jealous feelings that Hikaru and Zuko'd had this parity of being in gay alien love spells in Lunatia, but now found he missed his confusion over Gokudera's absence and loss by all means. It put a new spin on his previous mindset that should he ever return home from Prismatica, he'd want to forget everyone, because it'd be too sad to lose them and miss them. But now that it came to that... that standpoint seemed less appealing. Transitioning from one plane of reality to another, being told your world might end, and remembering this other that ripped apart, for how it felt... losing Gokudera but not the memory of him had already been weighing heavy on the boy and he'd only barely arrived.
But knowing that everyone else he's met who were in Lunatia remember being there so far, he can't swallow his elation at seeing his not-so-long-lost friend. He goes by this baseline assumption that he'll remember, and once the recognition sets in, he springs up, running to catch up with the hitman, calling his name as he comes up. If only Gokudera could know, could remember, Zuko's wearing the brightest, most open-hearted smile he's ever worn — and he's smiled quite a lot around Gokudera, compared to anyone else. His eyes light up, his body language is open as if on edge of expecting a hug, he looks young and friendly and exceptionally happy... not at all the actual first impression Zuko would make in any other circumstance but a weird twist of fate such as this. ]
Gokudera...?! Hey! Hey, Gokudera! So you are here! Hi!
oh I feel so guilty
And now for some reason he keeps having lapses in his memory that are happening more often than he'd care to admit. He can't let the Tenth find out! The Tenth already knows. It's happened in an important fight with the baseball idiot! Pretty much everyone in this world knows he's cursed, so he figures it may be for the best if he stays on his own.
So he's sulking, wandering about and trying to find some way of curing his curse. Taking off his shirt and hanging it didn't help, but then... he wasn't cursed to be dizzy like that Sokka guy.
When he hears someone calling his name, he stops and lifts an eyebrow at the boy approaching him. Gokudera doesn't recognize him, and then pulls his device out to see if anything he's put on the network has his name on it. No.]
Hey. [This guy has some crazy confidence approaching him in such a friendly manner. Gokudera's very closed off, sneering a little and looking much too tense in stature to be welcoming.]
Do I know you? [Did someone introduce him to this guy during one of his memory lapses?]
the pain ;c we knew it was coming
Haha— Uh... H-How long have you been here? I just got here. Azula's with me, too — but not right now, don't worry. Is Yamamoto here, too?

A Pure Heart
[ Still water, maybe! Not waters like these! Taichi was thinking maybe they go and see if there's like a ladder back at that shanty town or something!! He doesn't know who this guy is really (at least not visually, he may have heard the name from someone) so he latches onto the broken bridge railing like it's going to save him from this rando who wants him to jump to his death. ]
no subject
Well— I can. And look, it doesn't look like anyone's died, right? What else could the sign mean?
no subject
If they washed away with the river no one would know!
[ All the bodies would be down river!! ]
You have to be pure of heart to make it don't you? There's no way, I'll fall!
no subject
[ Taichi hardly seemed the type to be taking a walk on the dark side of life... Zuko knows what that looks like, knows many people who walk it — has walked it himself... Taichi ain't it. Hikaru ain't it, either, as messed up as he is in his own way. Zuko knows evil people; was raised by an evil person! He has no doubt that Taichi is gonna walk the bridge, not even knowing him. He knows enough about him with enough context to know this guy isn't a murderous maniac or something. Maybe that's a bit of a black and white spectrum for "pure of heart," but Zuko's purity of heart also leans him toward idealistic notions, too. He's brazen, if not optimistic; it balances out. ]

c; high ideals
And there's been plenty of other things on his mind.
But seeing Zuko, well, that does make him happy. Kaoru and Tamaki are more than enough, really, but Zuko had filled a niche friendship role for him that Hikaru's never quite had before. Selfishly, he's glad he doesn't have to go out and find another friend. That sounds like torture.
Instead of telling Zuko he's happy, Hikaru walks to him like it hasn't been a month since he's last seen the other.]
Took you long enough.
no subject
Until today. Today was horrible. He had to confront his worst fears, convince himself that he's not innately a disgrace to exist at all and remind himself that his uncle told him, after forgiving him for his worst regrets, that he's "an idealist with a pure heart and unquestionable honor." That got him through the cave, got him the crystal, even with an illusion of his father lurking in the background. If Hikaru had been there, it would've been like Bubble Part 2 in emotional intensity level — but this time would have been a lot easier within their friendship, probably. But he got through it still. He got through the test of confidence, too, proved he is as pure of heart as his uncle says, and crossed the invisible bridge... with Taichi, of all people! Who remembers Prismatica and Hikaru! Zuko's privately thrilled to finally meet him properly, as funny as it is to meet him in Avalon and not Lunatia... But he'd mentioned Hikaru is here, so Zuko's already in the know, already means to find him, knows he remembers him. And Azula remembers him. The guy with the piercings online remembers him. He just assumed if he knew someone there, they remember him here. Until that default line of thinking blew up in his face quite literally. Gokudera didn't remember him. They weren't best friends anymore, to put it lightly.
And so he's still happy to see his other best friend, inexpressibly relieved by already knowing that they both remember everything. As happy as they may be to see each other, they certainly don't show it clearly, no big grins and no hugs — that's not them — but Zuko is quite distracted in the moment Hikaru finds him, and not doing so hot. He's made off closer to the city, pacing frantically down the lip of the forest on the edge of town, whole body aching but overcome with nervous energy in the throes of a panic attack. Hikaru'd just missed him talking to himself out loud, flailing and screaming like a crazy person. It was a hard and heated argument with himself, and he didn't win... But when he hears Hikaru's voice, his heart leaps. Hikaru remembers. Hikaru's still his friend. Hikaru wants him here. "Took you long enough" shows that, snarky as a first greeting as it is. Normally Zuko'd probably find it funnier. But Hikaru's found him in a state... When Zuko spins round to face the host, he looks terrifying, like a villain out of an indie action movie.
His short stylish hair Hikaru groomed so well is a mess of wild black spikes. His black jeans are torn at the knees and thighs, all his clothes randomly singed, the collar of his black coat frayed, speckled with grey schmutz because he's covered in dirt... No, ash — soot? Dirt, and ash, and soot. And bruises and scrapes. And blood. A good part of Zuko's grey T-shirt's neckline look black, soaked with fresh blood. And his face is also soaked with both fresh bright red blood and dark crimson dried blood, as are both his hands. He couldn't wipe it all away; faces gush a lot. He has a fresh shiner on his good eye, and a couple gnarly gashes bookending it on his cheekbone and browbone, with a stripe of hair missing from the tail of his only eyebrow, which would look very chic and modern of him like one of those cool notches, if it weren't that the skin was missing, too. His lip is fat and swollen, also bright red, and there's another bloody gash down his chin to match it. Rings, man. Big, tacky rings. A new weapon on their own. He has a feral look on his face, and it's mixed with suspicious surprise at the sight of Hikaru, as he stands stunned before drawing closer. But surely it's Hikaru who should be painted with suspicious surprise, because what the fuck, Zuko. Way to make an entrance.
As you can see, your friend seems well. ]
Hikaru!
no subject
So when he sees Zuko's face, everything, he yells:] Zuko, what the hell?! [Very comforting. Very nice. That's how you react to your friend who looks like he got the shit beaten out of him.]
Crap. Crap, what do I do?! [He is not trained in first aid!! And when he tries to take a step closer, he withdraws because that's so much blood? Hikaru is a prissy rich boy and that's always just been a well-known fact. That just shows itself even better right here and now. But he wants to help. The answer comes to him when he can think for a second:] Healing magic! Taichi has it but there's no way he can do this much. Crap. Give me a second, I'll ask around!
[Taking out his device and furiously texting as he's asking for help.] Seriously! What the hell happened?
no subject
I'm fine. Don't. It's fine.
[ He sighs, shaking his head, bringing his hands to his temples. His whole being hurt, inside and out. Strange, anxious, awful pressure inside his head, heart still racing, blood still boiling. He's willing himself slightly calmer for Hikaru's sake cuz he knows how this goes, this ain't Hikaru's thing, but he's also slightly calmed just cuz... Hikaru's here. Shitty first encounter, but seems on brand for their first encounters, of all occasions so far. He'd only been here a couple days. Now this? He's exasperated, fury still burning slow, but he feels like he wants to deflate suddenly now that Hikaru's here. He evaded several fucking bombs tonight, and didn't evade a couple, too. He's tired, man. There's an edge and breathlessness to his voice that's not usually there, an oddly sharp but slow cadence, almost barely panting from the pain at points, and his anger adds to his natural rasp, too, though his voice cracks a bit when he raises it. ]
Katara's here. She has healing magic, too. And I met Taichi today, by the way. Great. I also met Gokudera. But as you can see— didn't go so great!
[ He waves his hands in the air emphatically. Then winces, cuz it hurt his shoulders to do that; one must have got hurt when he was thrown up against the tree. He feels like shit, and suddenly not being alone with his thoughts makes the physical pain more real, as Hikaru's sensibly frantically focusing on that before anything else. That Zuko has any amount of humor at play right now is actually probably a scary sign. But, on the bright side, he did sort of just casually give Hikaru his blessing about Taichi, so there's that? ]

Arrival: Training Grounds (f... finally)
Having left with just his thoughts, he's been wandering just to wander, and with little intent of doing much. No plans, or wish, to meet someone. Let alone at this hour.
There are many things he'll notice here. The boy, though not much older. His eye with thickened scarring, present also on his left. Or expression, like his own that time. It's all so familiar; watching him now from safest distance, each burst reflecting efforts, and his mind can't help recalling: how he's pushed, and been pushed down, and trained himself to overheating. And while several things occur on flickering film of recollection, he'll see slip of opened door, or his father in his dim-lit room. Much as memories often startled, these remembrances don't linger long. But fading, ugly imprints now.
Was this guy here all alone, like him?
Whatever the case, he doesn't look pleased. So thoughts insist he ignore, and keep to himself along his path. Leave him to do... whatever he's doing. But kinder thoughts resurface: those who'd meddled despite his wishes, which is crux of all he's become; the heart-warm words he'll carry forward. It's all the push he's needed—to move in quiet steps, press his voice into a softened,]
Hey.
[Too late now. He's meddling.]
Don't overdo it.
[That's some force the guy's kicked up...]
omg ten years late but hello
But what if somehow it is? What if he could be able to use fire magic, but for some mental block, emotional disruption, just like the other two times he's lost his firebending? He had an existential panic attack that left him bedridden, ensnared in fever dreams, for over a week, the first time he'd been spirited away... His destiny had been interrupted again. Is he reacting to this in a way that's blocking his chi? What if there's something wrong with his spirit, his conviction, or even his moral compass again? He's never fast to rule himself out as a suspect when things go wrong. He's not been morally in the clear exactly lately, and lives with this problem now, shares a room with this problem now, and that's the problem... He's easily led astray from the right path. It's hard to see clearly through the red; he's been almost blinded in more ways than the visible one in his short life so far. Maybe he's blind to how badly he's fucking up in life right now, and it's caused him to snuff out his flame. The air feels empty by comparison.
But in his mind, air is an element embodying peace, balance, harmony, within and without oneself... which on the other hand, he also feels in life right now, at least until it was disrupted when he found himself here, less than 24 hours ago. It's a painful shock to be spirited away twice, but especially going from living as a fugitive and rebel in a coup against his father, to working in a teppanyaki restaurant as a busboy and just hanging out with a bunch of teenage boys watching movies... to this? Whatever the fuck this is? A lot has been robbed from him, in all three realms he's lived in now, but he feels the most robbed now. There's an empty pit inside him without his flames. But it just conjures stronger gusts of air the more he dwells on these dark thoughts all morning.
These are heavy, dark, existential thoughts that, indeed, he's immediately disgruntled to have interrupted. He turns to face Shoto sharply, obviously ready to snap back at him with some vicious words, but they get caught when he notices the boy's nearly matching scar. He's never met someone his own age with a scar like his, and it takes him aback visibly before he settles back into his real disgruntlement. It's not necessarily a sense of camaraderie or empathy, but... it somehow makes it less offensive than if he were some cute chipper genki boy meddling in this moment, telling Zuko, a stranger, to take it easy. Odds are, this guy's probably speaking from a place of empathy, himself, and it disarms the firebender slightly. Just slightly, though. He still snarls back at him after a beat, brow furrowed, voice raspier than usual for overdoing it training. Shoto's not wrong to meddle, and just as he was conflicted whether or not he should, Zuko's conflicted about whether or not it should be welcome. It's not his first inclination, though... ]
What's it to you?
Glad you're back! Hello!
It's with patience, then, he stays in place. All his tolerance not to scowl, bare his teeth, sling his ire back in brimstone. New growth, then. That Todoroki's melting. For one, it means effort. Petty words were best avoided, so with calm, the boy dodges, "sidesteps", keeps his animus trapped in ice. He isn't as keen to make things worse, and while it's audible irritation—all the bite of a wounded cat—it's easy enough to brush aside.
How unfortunate he's himself, here to push his meddling further.
"The 'old' me wouldn't care", he thinks. It's sobering as a slap to see his attitudes reflected, and before, it'd hardly mattered. It'd been easy behind his ice, to shield himself from every outside thing. But Zuko's glaring rings a bell, and his wording holds the mirror up. Reminds him he'd rather forget.
"What's it to you?"; "You're in my way". Was his wording any different, once?
And, has it mattered that he's different, now? Always ignoring the others around him; did mistakes need repeating?
So instead, he'll ask in earnest, because he's here and because he tries,]
What's it to you? [What's riled him up?] What are you doing, anyway?
[Despite his almost-somber voice, all his softening tone beneath, it's as strong as he's persistent. Closer, in fact, with slow steps forward.]

Caravan?
It was taking "Junko" a little time to get accustomed to things as well. She'd...died. She was sure she'd died, and that left her in a bit of a dazed state.]
Seriously...what the hell...

She blinked a little in surprise at that, catching sight of his eyes and that obvious old scar- a burn, definitely, probably from close range. Perhaps a grenade... no, that would have a wider radius. Too shallow to be a backfired gun.
...No, it probably wasn't any of her business. And now he was scowling. She fidgeted, wanting to fill the awkward silence with something to break the tension.]
Sorry- I know I look kinda a mess right now.
