TEST DRIVE MEME ⚔️️ 2
![]() Premise ⚔️️ Rules ⚔️️ FAQ ⚔️️ Taken ⚔️️ Reserves ⚔️️ Apply ⚔️️ Locations ⚔️️ Bestiary ![]() A ⦿ Soaking in Your Arrival
Regardless of what you were in the middle of, you and your familiar have been magically pulled into the world of Avalon just above the Bay's chilly waters. After a brief plunge into the Bay, the rush of water filling your ears and soaking up into every creak and crevice of your body, you may need to cough to clear your airways when you rise above the surface. It's paralyzingly cold for a few seconds before you're approached by the Lady of the Lake beneath the water's surface. She puts a vial of a vibrant, glowing red Everwarm* potion to your character's lips. The icy water doesn't feel so icy once consumed and you'll be able to move your limbs enough to swim to shore on your own. She can't stick around to explain, she's got to get this to all the new arrivals! Many of which you'll see plopping in around you. If you can't swim, a handful of helpful ice turtles will scoop you up from beneath and drop you off at the shore. When not helping people, the turtles are going around and hitting the ice that keeps forming on the surface with their shells to keep the surface open for the falling arrivals or pushing personal items to the beach near the new arrivals they smell like (belong to). If anyone tries to ask the Lady of the Lake for directions, she will direct you to Archimedes at the Rent-a-Ride. If anyone with Animal Magic asks the turtles, they will give the full spiel, but very slowly, and they like to get off topic and gossip about other turtles you've never heard of. The shores themselves are littered with new arrivals complaining their way up a staircase carved into the walls of the White Cliffs. There is no railing, so be careful, but if you do fall, be prepared for a mysterious sand hand to reach out of the side of the cliffs to catch you. The hand will pat you atop the head twice before retreating back into the wall. This is the Cliff Beast; despite the name, he is quite friendly. B ⦿ The Caravan to Camelot
These carriages use fae technology that combats weight, so your character will be able to get in regardless of whether they're light as a feather or weigh two tons. The carts have air conditioning when it's hot, heating when it's cold, and a mystical shield to protect from bugs. There is also a mini-bar that pops out of the console with nip bottles. Characters can use their smartphones to connect to Camelot's internet service, C ⦿ The Red Spring
If you don't want to relax in the room, try taking a dip in the spring for another chance to meet your fellow travelers. The waters have restorative properties that help horses and travelers recover quickly when drunk. It is known to relieve stress, improve energy levels, and mildly accelerate healing. It may be a little chilly when you get out though, so make sure you don't slip rushing back indoors when you get out! The springs are also home to a large training grounds just outside town limits, where there are teachers who will teach basic magic safety and help you discover what kind of magic you have together with other new arrivals. Try target practice, obstacle courses, meditation circles, and other ways to try to figure out just what you can do... if you didn't already have an accidental discovery on the ride there. ![]() A ⦿ Trial and Icy Errors Winter has arrived in Avalon, and with it has come to a change in the weather. Puffs of breath precede sentences when outside, small fires fill braziers to allow people to stop and get warm for a moment between where they come from and where they are going. Snow has begun to fall; at first, it is the same, fluffy, white flakes many adventurers will have seen. However, as the day progresses, the snow begins to shimmer; it’s like a prismatic effect, a magical light catching against every little crystal and illuminating sparkling flakes, so vibrant it’s clear someone has enchanted the snow. Shortly after the change, there will be a text alert to all devices: Tired of the same old routine with your magic? Ready for a little something new? Come on out and have an old fashioned snowball fight with a magical twist. Be sure to practice your new powers and have fun! 😉 -MerlinThose who come outside to find the rainbow snow already being packed into neat balls by Camelot's citizens; go ahead and grab a basket full but remember, don’t just toss them. Let’s get magic with it! Different types of magic will have different effects on the enchanted snow: In the end, it seems while adventurers will be able to get plenty of practice in, some of that practice is going to come from trying to stop the side effects of mixing their powers with the magic snow; welcome to your first lesson in control. If one is going to use magic in conjunction with already magically imbued things, they ought to know the right amount, seems Merlin wants you all to learn in a trial by snowball error. Those who practice their magic and participate in the snowball fight will be given hot chocolate, warm soup, fresh baked goods, or other treats to warm them up after their training is done. But don’t slack off! You’re like to find your hot chocolate spiced with pickle flavor, that warm treat suddenly turns to ice cream in your mouth. Avalonians want that practice to happen, and are willing to add some incentive... whether that means the carrot or the icicle. ![]() All throughout the City of Camelot is a buzz of excitement about the oncoming winter solstice on the 21st. Citizens will tell you of the winter solstice's importance in cleansing the flow of Avalon's magic each year and absorbing sunlight to increase its potency. In other words, the winter solstice generates a significant amount of magic if the proper ritual is followed, so the visitors from other worlds really should head on over to Albion's White Cliffs. A ⦿ The Darkness in the White Cliffs
Once you gain entrance, you will find there is no light within the caves and the door seems to close behind you. Non-magical lights won't illuminate anything within these caves, so you will need to either navigate through the darkness or find a magical means to light your path. Be wary-- traveling in the dark will be a much safer journey if you can find your way through the caves and keep track of your companions. The reason there is no light are the bat-like creatures that eat energy like fire and electricity. With the magical light attracting them and nothing to consume, they'll be very aggressive and swarm anything emitting heat.. like an unsuspecting traveler. Make too much noise, and the Cliff Beast will spit you out back onto the sand and you'll have to start over. B ⦿ "For a greedy man, even his tomb is too small."
There is no clear warning about what will happen if you take anything besides your one cup. However, characters who disobey this instruction and take any of the riches within the cave will initially experience severe symptoms such as magical blockage, an endless common cold, and food turning to ash in their mouth. They will experience dreams in which they are urged to return the treasure and a day later, advanced symptoms if it goes on for too long have been known to result in vomiting frogs and snakes, insomnia, speaking in tongues despite the translation spell, bleeding from the ears, and eventually death. C ⦿ Drink Up
Upon arriving at the Red Springs, a party of people there to guide those who have made the ritual's journey to a particular pool within the vicinity of the springs. Characters will be directed to take a sip, then pour the rest into the Spring alongside your peers, finally throwing the clay cup itself into the spring. Throughout the day, you will begin to feel strangely giddy, but it will pass. Nothing much will seem like it happens otherwise, but the guides assure you that you will understand on the night of the winter solstice when the ritual is complete and your body becomes a conduit to purify and rejuvenate Avalon's magic. For now, as thanks, the guides offer you one of the celebratory gifts they have to offer-- free drinks (this time of the age-appropriate alcoholic or sugary variety), a free night's stay at the Red Springs, a yule log, an escort, a Recipe: Snow Dance. (Effect: Snow Dance will cause small flurries to pick up where the spell is cast, resulting in decreased visibility. Only works if snow is already present, as it cannot generate elements.) The choice is yours. Pick one. Despite the warming brew the strange women had forced on him Crowley still spluttered in the water, not sinking, but not exactly making progress towards the shore either. One tended not to get very far when they were too busy shouting and waving their arms about angrily instead of swimming.
"Of all the... You bring soup?? Why not a life preserver? OR a boat?? A boat would be really useful right about now!"
The ice turtles were beaten to their mission by a rather large black horse who unceremoniously lifted the demon from the water and brought him to shore, not as a rider but more like a drenched sack of grain slung over its back. While the Pooka had been helpful as soon as it's hooves touched the sand it's mischievous nature was triggered and it was off, running wild over the shoreline with the helpless demon clinging as best he could to the creature's back.
"WHOA! WHOA, I SAID! Oh... won't you STOP!??"
A ⦿ Trial and Icy Errors
The whole rainbow snow fight wasn't really his scene. Oh, he stood back and watched it, meddling occasionally when it seemed like he could mess up some one's epic winning streak. That guy over there the one who hadn't been hit with a snowball the entire time would find the tree behind him shaking the snow off it's branches to bury him in an avalanche. That girl barricaded behind the snow fort would find a small fire break out in it's center, melting it until she was open to attack. The snowball some one was holding ready to throw, would find it doubled in size so that it landed on them instead!
This was Crowley's brand of fun! Sitting back with a nice warm coco and cackling over causing little acts of mischief while staying nice and dry himself. Feel free to spoil it.
A ⦿ The Darkness in the White Cliffs
It was dark! Almost darker than demonic eyes could navigate. They had managed to make it several feet into the cavern with only the light from the opening to guide the way forward but now even that seemed to be drawn away.
"Careful!"
Crowley hissed as his companion's toe glanced over a stone to send it clattering down the tunnel in front of them. His voice when he spoke was barely above a hushed whisper.
"There are some bats hibernating here... I don't want to see what happens if they wake up."
He took another step or three into the gloom which grew ever darker and ever more difficult to see the pathway ahead.
"Then again, I wouldn't mind some light. Think that would wake them up?"
Soaked on Arrival
Jaws dropped, he tries to do something to get the horse to stop and save the poor man, which involves standing on its path and waving like a mad man. Granted, Harry does not have animal magic for talking to the horse, but it doesn’t stop him from trying though.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop it, Mr. Horse, you’re making that poor man dizzier by the minute,” he tells the horse, expecting it not to listen to him.
Apologies to him for not knowing what a Pooka is at the moment.
Re: Soaked on Arrival
"I'm not dizzy!"
Crowley complained in a voice that betrayed a sense that he might have been lying about that.
"I'd just like to get..."
The Pooka took that moment to rear up on his hind legs and bounce as if he were a kangaroo sending the chilly, dizzy, and completely confused demon tumbling to the sand. Like the brat it was the fae horse then took off, dodging past Harry so fast that if he weren't quick on his feet he might have ended up in the sand himself.
"What is this place... And don't tell me it's Oz."
Re: Soaked on Arrival
“So, you’re not dizzy at all? Okay, how is the arrival for you like?” he checks with the man before he answers the man’s question about their location, “Oh no, this is not Oz, I’m afraid. This is the Isle of Avalon. There is no sign of other lands from here, which technically makes this like a world of its own.”

Or or he claimed as he very dizzily stumbled to his feet and crash landed on Harry's shoulder. He would only stay a moment until the world stopped spinning so fast.
"It's a trip, isn't it? Been like..."
He paused as great mental efforts were being undertaken to come up with something all this was like that wasn't still in line with Dorothy, Toto, and a few Wicked Witches.
"Drinking all night on a Carousel in the middle of bloody winter without a jacket on."
With a shiver he managed to right himself before glancing around for a fire.
"They have hot coffee's in Avalon? I could murder a cuppa right about now."
no subject
And luckily for Crowley, this teenager is also a barista, if only he has brought along take-out cups of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for the arrivals today. Maybe he should give the man a cuppa once they get back to New Camelot real soon.
“Oh yes, there are coffee available in Avalon. I happen to work for a cafe in New Camelot’s city centre,” he replies, “I am also sure that they provide hot drinks at the Caravans to the city as well.”

Nothin happened.
She frowned and closed her eyes, not noticing him any longer as she tried again.
Nothing.
She dropped down in front of the horse, her wings folding neatly behind her back. She couldn't speak to the tree, but at least she could calm the horse, right? She started speaking to it, in Horse. Which she was learning from Ionn and Coella. She should be able to speak to the horse, right...? Either way she was right in its path....
(Given it is a familiar, up to you if she can speak with it.)
no subject
"Go on then girl, move out of the way. Let me give this silly creature the run of his life!"
The Pooka whinnied in a way not unlike a horse, but that held a distinct un-horse-like accent that only those who speak animal could have picked up on. Crowley meanwhile was just looking for a handhold to slid off this crazy ride which was a bit difficult to do while dangling upside down over a trotting Pooka's back.

Crowley's yelp was cut off as the Pooka took to the sand, flying over the dunes as quickly as anyone could fly. The demon might have found the speed fun if he were sitting on the animal properly and not eating the sand he kicked up.
It was fun for the Pooka! There was nothing a Pooka enjoyed more than tempting some unwary traveler onto their back and tearing around the countryside. Eventually though, and after running over every hill and dale he could find, the Pooka came back to where they started and stopped long enough for Crowley to slip to the ground.
"Bloody hell... Is this how you greet every new arrival??"

As it was, not seeing where he stepped had worse outcomes than just a few kicked pebbles; he probably was getting guano all over his boots, and without a miracle, that meant he was going to have to clean it off by hand.
"Well. It might. But we're not going to get far fumbling around in the dark, now, are we." He rummaged in a sack, quite proud of himself for thinking ahead. "Lucky for you, some of us had a little foresight and didn't decide to go into adventuring with nothing on hand. Like the Scouts say: Be Prepared."
The haughtiness might have been a little more impactful if what followed wasn't the sharp strike of a match that was swallowed completely by the darkness.
"Oh." Perhaps he should have been learning Light magic after all.
no subject
He retorted with a cool awe at the fleeting brilliance of the match which flared to life only to die just as quickly leaving all that angelic haughtiness echoing emptily down through the maze which was still dark... very, very dark.
"Lucky me. Where would I be if you weren't so well prepared?"
In the gloom he managed to slither closer, more from guessing where Aziraphale might have been than really knowing.
"You're an angel, can't you just... summon up a sunbeam?"
no subject
He gave an annoyed sigh at the sarcasm, but when he felt Crowley step closer, Aziraphale didn't move away. If anything, not that he would admit as much, he took a half step closer.
Once upon a time, he could have made light, back when he had miracles at his fingertips. Now, however...
"I thought I'd try my hand at Alchemy instead," he admitted, only a little guiltily, cringing now at how useless it seemed by comparison and glad Crowley couldn't see, even though it was undoubtedly evident in his voice. "It sounded fun, and Light magic--well, it's a little on the nose. Just because I'm an angel doesn't mean I have to be pigeon-holed into a certain stereotype."
He shot a questioning, judging look in the direction of Crowley's movement. "I suppose you picked Dark Magic?"
no subject
His laugh never quite manifested into anything more than a wide grin, one that only mellowed only when he was asked about dark magic.
"Right up my alley hexes, curses... love potions..."
He drifted just a hair closer before sighing all that away.
"Nah, like you said, too on the nose. What I went with was..."
In the gloom he lifted a hand and summoned a little spark of flame which danced and waved about in his palm, creating much more light for them than the little match had.
"Elemental."
no subject
The light illuminated an impressed, awed twinkle in Aziraphale's eyes as his gaze flicked from the demon's face, to that flame, then back to Crowley, who was standing so much closer than he had been when they last could see. Elemental? He raised a brow. You've been holding out on me, clever thing.
"Oh, really--" The words barely made it out of his mouth before there was a shriek of a bat, followed by the shriek many, many more further in the caves, and the scattered tangle of the sounds of wings unfurling for flight.

"It's a snowball fight, isn't it?"
no subject
Oh! So you're playing, too! Okay!
[he starts to gather another meteor snowball]
no subject
I'm more of an observer.

[and just as he's about to launch that snow meteor, Crowley's own missile lands ... going straight down through the meteor to land squarely between Yakko's ears. in a hollow, 'well that just happened' voice, he coughs:]
I am a flake on the wind.
[he freefalls backward into the snow, dropping the meteor as he goes ... which starts to roll toward Crowley, gathering mass and gaining speed]

Icy Errors
Uenoyama's familiar, older looking woman, wearing Greek toga and brown hair braided up and tied in a bun on top of her head with harp in her hands, was quite adamant that he uses the opportunity of magical snow to learn whatever magic he has. She's used her harp to manipulate the snowballs with kinetic magic and nudging Uenoyama to do the same with his guitar.
It did not end well.
One strum on the strings and the snowballs were everywhere. He himself fell backward in the snow from the kinetic force as a dozen snowballs just flew every which way from his direction, slamming into buildings, other people and, with very weird precision, right into Crowley's forehead.
Uenoyama is very unaware of what happened as he's trying to get up from the pile of snow he fell into.
Re: Icy Errors
"OI you in there! Come out! You've got payback coming!!"
no subject
Speaking of, payback? What for?!
"Goddamn this magic-" a set of colorful swears were covered up by appalled gasp of Muse, as Uenyoama finally pulled himself up on shaky feet.
"What are you talking about?!" He finally focuses on the guy talking to him, squinting so he can see him better. What's his problem?! He's already out, there's nowhere to go!
